Default TTC 2 or More October 2009

I have been trying since Nov 2008, and i had a really wierd first four months, It's really hard for me to go to the doctor. So for 4 months I dealt with AF every two weeks. Plus it would go for sometimes 10 days. I always had it it seemed like to I went to the doctor only because now i was desperate. My friend and i had decided to get pregnant together. She got pregnant right away and now here i am still not. My doctor told me that i had really high androgen* (i think thats how you spell it.) levels and that i probably had PCOS. Well he did a uterine biopsy and a pap and everything came back normal except my levels. I was so discouraged. I felt like he really didn't know what he was talking about and just trying to get me out of there with a diagnosis even though i dont think i have that. I've always had a normal period. i am a 28 day cycle except for that four months and i was wondering if anyone else had similar problems. After the biopsy my period stopped and went back to normal. now last month i just went back in and asked for the clomid and he said no. that i needed to wait another 5 months because there are too many risks to it and that i needed to be trying for a year or more, I'm a month away, and he wants me to wait because my period wasnt normal so he's going by feb when my period became normal again.

Amber - First - Welcome! Unfortunately, most doctors want you to wait that full year. IMO, those couple of month should count. Something was up with your cycle and that should have been a sign. Before going on clomid, you should probably get more b/w done to see where all of your levels are, not just the androgens.

I have never actually been officially ttc--I was only off of the pill and using opk's with Ely because my sisters have both faced infertility, and I wanted to see if I ovulate (obviously, the answer was yes) Because it was the first month, the opk didn't smile at me until the day after I had unprotected sex--apparently I am bad at math.
Anyways, I have been having severe cramping along my uterine c-scar, and since I do have endometriosis and a family history, I am a little worried. My ob wants to put me on the pill for now, and then I will go off in late spring and start ttc right away. I remember reading somewhere that you should take a folic acid supplement for the year leading up to pregnancy. Does anyone know how much to take? I do not want to take a pre-natal, because they make me so sick, but is there anything other than folic acid that I should really be taking to get my body ready for ttc? Thanks

PS--for the 'Infertility" girls, I didnt want to post this on your thread because I would feel wierd posting there, and I don't know most of you very well, but wanted to let you all know that the night before last, I dreamed that I got online and three girls from that side had gotten bfp's. Totally wierd thing to dream, but I think it is good mojo for you!

Krissy - It's never a bad idea to have a little extra folic acid. I would take a good multi vitamin for women and add a b-complex. A regular multi usually has about 600 mcg of b9 and you really want to have a minimum of 1000mcg. Adding the b complex will give you what you need in addition to other vital B vitamins. I really like the Rainbow brand vitamins.

Rac--Rainbow is the brand of prenatal that I took. I am trying to avoid an entire multivitamin, because they all seem to make me sick. I was sort of hoping to buy the folic acid alone, and maybe a few other things, also. I am not sure what it is in the multivitamin that makes me sick--maybe the iron?

Krissy.... you can get them with or without the iron. Having a good multivitamin is a good idea, though, just for overall general health. I'd also take a fish oil supplement.

Krissy- You may want to try a few different prenatal brands to see which agrees with you best. I know a couple people that have gotten sick on prenatals, then switched brands and had no issues.
I was really happy w/ my Primacare vitamins, and the woman I know that switched to them said her sickness stopped when she started taking them as well. Maybe you can get a free sample and try it out, just to see.
