Sarah - your bunny is sooooo cute! I absolutely love bunnies. I had one when I was a little girl. Mine was a mini-lop. Does your bunny leave "cocoa puffs" on the floor or furniture when you have her out or is she trained to go in her cage? Do you keep her in a cage - or let her stay out like a dog or cat? Does she leave fur all over the place like dogs and cats do? The reason I ask is that I was thinking about getting a bunny, but I don't really remember much about them from when I was little.

This is just a side note, but when I was a kid I had 2 house bunnies (angoras) and they did shed seasonally, but they used a corner litter box, like a ferret box to potty in.....they are just naturally clean, there is no training involved. :P

Wendy~ You can always get a chinchilla. Those are my favorite! I always said, if a teddy bear could come to life it would be a chinchilla.

So, they don't need to be in a cage? That is so cool! And they are potty-trained? That's amazing! I think I wish I would have gotten a bunny instead of my dog - bunnies don't bark and growl. I'm going to have to look into getting a bunny. Are there breeds of bunnies that make better pets than others?

Regina - are those legal in CA? I don't think I've ever seen a chinchilla. I think I've heard the name before, though. I'll have to see if I can find a pic of one on the Internet. I really like bunnies, so I think that is what I will get if I get another pet. I want to find out all I can first, though, so I make an informed decision and don't end up regretting it. One of my WoW characters has a pet bunny and he's a Tauren. It's so funny seeing this big tough Tauren warrior walking around with a cute little bitty bunny. He bought it in Booty Bay (a neutral area) off a human - bunnies aren't available in Horde areas.

I keep my bunny in her cage most of the time. For no big reason other then this is an apartment and I'm all big on getting as much of my deposit back when we move, so I'd rather not be cleaning up pee if she has an accident. When she plays on our bed she has only had 1 accident so she's real good at holding it in. She doesn't shed much, and she's a dwarf bunny, other than that I don't know what she is. I got her on Easter at the pet store in our mall in Erie (my home town). Everyone says not to buy pets there, but she came right up to me and I couldn't leave without her. And she LOVES giving kisses (licking), it's so cute. The place must not be too bad she's never even had the sniffles. Everyone should have a bunny

"Everyone should have a bunny" - That is so cute! Does she get stinky at all? How often do you have to clean her cage? Does she ever need a bath? Sorry I'm so full of questions. So, she doesn't just know to go to a certain place to go potty like a cat does? I should just Google all these questions. [/quote]

I had an angora rabbit. This thing should have been a goat. It was so mean and ate everything in sight. One time we went to Disneyland for a few days, when we got back, the neighbor had left the cage undone so "Bubba" got out of his cage and followed the cats up the wood stack. Hopped through the kitchen window b/c he learned it from the cats and stayed many days in the house. He had it made! He ate the cats food and water and slept on my room mates bed and had diarrhea all over her bed My room mate threatened to make rabbit soup with him. I told her it was her cats fault b/c they were the one's who taught him how to get in the house and to climb on her bed. Bubba was meaner than a junk yard dog. He hated people

I was cracking up at this. It reminds me of the song "Bad Bad Leroy Brown."

She doesn't get stinky and she doesn't bother my alergies. I can barely pet a cat without my face feeling like it's going to explode, but I can bury my face in her fur and it doesn't bother me and it has no odor. I've yet to bathe her, she just doesn't need it. I (and let me say this again "I") clean her cage once a week. She's peed in the same corner of her cage since we got her. Oh another reason she doesn't roam around free is she loves to chew cords. And don't be sorry, I love talking about her.

Sarah - I found a really cool website about bunnies and their care. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/medical.html. It says that bunnies shed their fur every 3 months. So does this mean that there is a lot of fur everywhere all the time, or does it just fall off all at once? I don't think my Dh wants me to get a bunny. He likes them, but he didn't sound too happy when I brought up the idea of getting one. He even had the nerve to call them "rodents" - like they are some nasty old sewer rat or something . Well I guess they are technically rodents, but it was the way he said it. Yeah, he also mentioned the chewing up of everything in sight. I told him that only happens if you aren't watching them and they don't have their own stuff to chew on.

Regina - I heard that about rabbits before, too. That's one of the reasons I didn't consider one before I got Haplo. I guess you just got a mean one. I think it was your neighbor's fault that your bunny got out and made such a mess - she's the one who left his cage open! I'm glad the cats didn't hurt him.

Tammi - Thanks .

I've never noticed her shed more then normal everyday amounts. I probably lose more hair a day then she does. So I'm not sure how much that site is talking about.

Sara - That (what you said about her going in the same corner) is why we put a corner litter box (made for ferrets) in my bunnies cage. It made it so easy to clean b/c it was just that little box instead of the whole under the cage thing.

Wendy - Tell DH that bunnies are classified as Lagamorphs, not same as rats and mice and stuff. Just to get your way! Rodentia is an Order of mammals, and Lagamorphia (rabbits and such) are another different Order!

Regina - Thanks!

Sarah - In the thread that is new made for sharing blinkies and such, Kia has hers posted and on pg. 16 of her TTC blinkies there is one that has pictures of bunnys on it and it says "BD like Bunnies!" That would be perfect for you! So cute!
