We think maybe he is. He is getting a rash today from his diaper too. Why now? Could the antibiotics have weakened his system? He has never had a problem with diapers before.. Hmm..

Christie, allergies (even ones to latex) are caused by a malfunction of the immune system thinking it needs to work harder. You may be right on in wondering if it could be caused by the antibiotics. I would look into getting some probiotics into him and try to get his little tummy back into balance

Christie - Just let it run its course. That's what they did when we were babies. He's young and it's not a fatal disease.

Oh, I know he will live through it. I just didn't have them until I was 17 so I am at a loss as to what to do to make him feel better!

I'm not sure, but I do know that they're easier to deal with when you're little as opposed to getting them as an adult. Maybe some tepid baths with some soothing oatmeal or epsom salts will help to relieve some of his discomfort. Tap on the upper portion of his breast bone to stimulate his Thymus gland (that's where the white blood cells - T Cells are matured for his immune system. Wouldn't hurt to do that every day, just to support (I do it to myslef every couple of days).

Amber - Unfortunately, one of the possible side effects of any vaccination is the disease itself.

Christie-OMG, so the vaccine gave him chicken pox? I don't know if it is good for babies or even still recommended, but when we were kids I think my mom used Calamine(sp) lotion, it is that pink stuff? It is supposed to help with itching. I hope he gets better soon, that just stinks.

I'm sure him having been on antibiotics didnt help. Normally when your child is sick or is on meds they don't give vacc. to them. It's probably the only reason he got them.

Bina - I used to cover myself with that stuff I always had an itch.

Good news, well I guess it is good news, LOL no chicken pox BUT we are allergic to penicillin. (I am and so is my dad so not altogether surprising). So, we take Benadryl every 6 hours and stay out of the heat/sun and get better! Thanks for the well wishes!

Christie~ Can you post a pic of Charlie's rash? Does it look like little red bumps all over his body? That's what Jaicee looked like when she took penicillin for her ear infection. I'm sure she is allergic to it. I'm just curious to compare his rash with hers, if you have time to do it. I'm glad it's not chicken pox. Poor little Charlie. The good news is that Jaicee's rash went away completely within 48 hours, and she didn't get any benadryl. I hope the same thing happens for you.
