We had a scare today. Hannah felt warm this morning and I took her temp under her arm - it was 99.7 so I gave her some Motrin and juice and she acted so happy and silly and playful all morning. It was down to 98.1 an hour later. We went to a b-day party and when we got home, her temp was 104.2. I was freaking out and ready to head to the ER. Thank goodness we have a 24 hours nurse line. She calmed me down and told me to give her Mortin and watch and wait. She's sleeping now and it was around 101 last time I checked. I'm still worried about her, but I was thinking brain damage and the nurse told me that doesn't happen until around 107

Yikes, Kelly! I'd be freaking out, too.
Does she seem sick other than the fever? Poor little girl.

Kelly- Hope Hannah feels better. Gosh, I don't blame you and I would have freaked out too. Mason has only had a 99 and for about an hour 100 degree fever before. I hope when she wakes up it's down.

Thanks, Sarah & Judith. Yesterday, she was acting just fine, being silly, singing and dancing. Today, she definately doesn't feel good. I have to give her the motrin every 6 hours. I set my alarm and got up at 4:30 and gave it to her. Her temp was around 102 then, so we're getting a little better. I'm supposed to take it again and do the motrin in 5 mins, but she is sleeping and I don't really want to wake her. At 4:30, when I was giving her the motrin, she woke up and said, "Medicene" Then I was trying to get her to drink and she said "Stop it." At least I know she is still thinking clearly. I'm still very worried a/b her. Later I will go to work to get ready for a sub, b/c I will staying home w/ her tomorrow. Oh, she's up!

Kelly- I hope Hannah is feeling better. Jeslynn had a fever of about 104 once, and I also called the nurses line. You would think the younger they are, the more fragile, but she said the same thing your nurse said, not to freak unless it's around 107. They actually can withstand a much higher temp than an adult can. It is miserable though, for both of you. I hope you're handling it okay. Just make sure and keep her hydrated, which is what it sounds like you are trying to do. She hasn't been throwing up or anything?

kelly - i hope that hannah is feeling better!! abby has a temp that high a couple of times. just alternate motrin and tylenol to bring it down. (motrin every 6 and tylenol every 4. Start w/ motrin and after 2-3hrs give the tylenol. then just keep track of them both and alternate. it's brought ab's temps right down...).

our computer crashed last night....so dh and a friend of his went to the Apple store and we now have an iMac. what a difference...and what bad timing w/ money...

now dh needs the computer...

karen - to be honest, there are a TON of differences (what exactly they are tho, i have NO idea...LOL)... i know for sure, mac's can't get viruses (so that makes the internet better). One of the main reasons we got one is because of the filming and editing. dh loves to do that (and is doing it on the side for someone right now). He hopes one day that will be his job. The movie 300 was completely edited on a Mac. Basically tho, I just get on the internet, i figured out how to do that and i'm happy there are a lot more things I need to learn tho that for sure. Also, for a one time fee of $99 you can take as many classes on how to do things as you want for 1yr.

Thanks for Hannah's well wishes. We are going to the dr at 11:30. Her temp was up to 104.6 last night. If DH hadn't been here, I would have been taking her to the ER. In the morning, her temp goes down and she's super cranky. At night, it spikes and she just acts silly and wants to play.

Lauren - my cousin had told me a/b doing the tylenol and motrin, but I was still afraid to try it. If it gets up that high again, I will have to do it, though.

Kelly, I hope Hannah feels better soon. Keep us posted on what the doctor says. In the future, if her temp is that high, you can give tylenol and motrin at the same time and then alternate like Lauren suggested to keep it down.

Kelly, I hope that you have some luck today with Hannah's fever. I also suggest getting it down manually with a bath. My pedi says to keep it at a normal bath temp so that it doesnt bring it down to fast, that makes them shiver.

Thanks again. We went to the dr. She has an ear infection - full blown in one ear and just starting in the other ear. She gave us an antibiotic - a different one than last time b/c the last one tore her stomach up. She also has to take a probiotic and try to have lots of yogurt. Poor thing just SCREAMED when the dr. looked in her ears. She has to stay home tomorrow, but hopefully will be feeling much better soon.

In other bad news, my bff is dur tomorrow and just found out that has husband has been lying to her for months - he said he was living out of town for work but was actually living 10 miles away with his stripper girlfriend and her 3 kids. He told her last night that he doesn't love her (my bff) any more and wants to be w/ the stripper. So she is filing for divorce today, I think. Her sister told me all of this and told me not to say anything, so I'm not sure what to do. I want to call her, but I don't know what to say.
