Crystal, I wish I could say that it was just a saying, but she really thinks she is old enough to do whatever she wants, she keeps me on my toes. The other day I let the big girls ride their bikes around the high school (we live right next to it) and she told us she was going too. I told her no, you have to be seven like Morgan and she looked at me, grabbed her bike and said "I am seven" and then tried to ride away

Lisa-that is too funny, I am sure having older sisters just encourages her

speaking of crazy toddlers, I am not allowed to sing anymore whether its a lullaby or along to the radio in the car because I'm told to "stop it" And whenever I finish talking to someone on the phone she says "what were you talking about?"

Lauren-Avery likes to say "you do it" whenever I ask her to do anything.

Bina, isnt it funny when they want to know what is going on. Mia always says "who was that" when I am done with the phone

Lauren, at least she has good manners

Hey ladies.
My little guy is younger but I noticed no one has posted in the "Terrible Twos" section since 2008! Matthew is throwing tantrums every time he is told "no"! We are finding it hard to go anywhere with him - especially if the event is outdoors. I am supposed to be on limited activity for this pg but find myself being dragged all over playground equipment etc! If I try to steer him back to a place to sit down, he will throw himself on the ground and refuse to walk and I can't pick him up. Very frustrating!!

He also isn't talking yet which is concerning to me. He still wants his paci all the time but I try to take it away when he gets dressed and only use it for naps and bedtime. Sometimes he will repeat words clear as day and then we never hear them again. Most of his speech is gobbly gook. I figure I will give him until the end of the summer to start talking more (he'll be 22 mos) and if he isn't, then I will request a speech evaluation for him. I think if he could talk, maybe he wouldn't tantrum all the time! It was like a switch went off at 17 mos and my sweet little boy was replaced by a screaming, tantruming little grumpy pants.

Rebecca - I'm sorry Matthew is giving you such a hard time. You're not alone. We have good days and bad days w/ Hannah (she turned 2 in May). My activity hasn't been limited, but m/w doesn't want me picking Hannah up, which is impossible b/c she runs away and throws herself down, too. Sorry - that doesn't really help, but it's not just your child. As far as the paci, Hannah only uses it for sleep so we don't let her take it out of her room. When we were first doing that, if she asked for the paci, she had to go to her bed to have it and she figured out that she did not like that. I know boys talk later than girls, and lots of other boy mommies have expressed concerns. Is he saying any words? Is he around other people much - does he go to school? Hannah talks a LOT, but she'll still nonsense talk for a few minutes a couple of times of day.

Jack went pee pee in the potty last night! I was using the bathroom and he decided he would come sit on his potty (completely naked) and I was reading a book with him. He peed a little and was shocked. Dh and I started clapping and saying how proud we were of him and gave him a piece of candy. He got up and started running around naked and then came back and was yanking on his pee pee trying to make more come out. I was afraid he was going to pull it off but he managed to pee pee 3 more times, each time getting up and running around all happy for a piece of candy and then coming back and yanking on his pee pee for more to come out. Dh and I were dying laughing by this time!!!

RebeccaQ - my twins were born the same time as Matthew and we are going through the same things. Evan does not say many words at all - he prefers the screaming until I figure it out method. I too find it hard to go places because Evan does not understand that he can't have everything that he wants (ie - other kids toys on the beach - that was a mess) - now my Audrey - she knows so many more words and uses them correctly - I just think it is a boy/girl thing

both of them have tempers !!

hopefully it is just a phase!
