hello. my husband and i have been trying to conceive for 2 months now unsuccessfully. i am really bummed as it seems i come from a huge family of "fertile mertyls". obviously i am not one of them. i am 29 and have never been pregnant before. i was on birth control for 2 years and have been off it for a year and a half already. we were using other methods of birth control up until 2 months ago. i really wanted a baby to be born next summer so i was really hoping to get pregnant this month. unfortunately i just started my period yesterday. i am so desperate and going to buy one of those ovulation kits. does anyone recommend any in particular? since i start my period anywhere from 21-28 days, i am very unsure when i ovulate so i want to use those kits to be sure. also, when is it best to take one of those tests, right after my period or before? any responses will be very appreciated. thank you for listening.

Welcome!!! Jump right into the October TTC section. Everyone will be glad to help you out! I only used an OPK once, I didn't even know what OPK stood for and I never did get a + and I got pg that month.

Alot of the girls here use the basal body temperature method. It's really good at detecting ovulation.

Like I said jump in on the Oct TTC thread and you'll find lots of information, help and lovely women!!

Many of us use the OPK's but mostly we rely on our temps.

As a beginner to OPK I would start at day 9 and continue until you get a positive. Read ALL the instructions when you get the box. Do not use your first morning urine (FMU) Use the next one after that.

There is a wealth of information to be learned. Don't be discouraged, you'll feel better once you start becoming more proactive in your fertility.
