Default New and TTC in Nov

Hi everybody! My name is Jill and I'm 37. My husband is 41. We have a 3.5 year old son (unplanned). We're going to start trying in Nov. I've been wanting to for awhile, but dh just gave the go ahead. We had unprotected sex the day after I ovulated this month, but I'm not sure if I can get pregnant from that or not, different websites say conflicting things.

I'm not planning to do the BBT or OPK at this point. My ovulation is generally easy to predict; I can feel it happening and it almost always comes cd10. I'm worried about my fertility because of my age. I'm hoping it's a good sign that my cycles are still very regular. I did have 2 fibroids when I had my son, but they were small and never caused any problem.

This seems like a great site, I can't wait to get to know everyone!

Welcome jill. I'm 36 and TTC #2 for almost 2 years now. I think my age has a lot to do with it as well too. Good luck to you. Will you be charting next month?

Thanks for the welcome!
Regina-I'm not sure about charting. I did one on babycenter that you put down when you had your period and when you ovulate, then it tells you when you should be fertile for the next 6 months. Do you think that's enough? My cycle is usually regular, 24 maybe 25 days, and I almost always ovulate at 10 days. I'm thinking it may not be useful to do the temps, if I already have a good idea when to expect to ovulate.

How old is your first child? Did it take you long TTC the first time?

Welcome Jill! This is a good site with lots of great women! I am 31 ttc my first. I have been trying for about 7-8 months, but only charting for 5. Charting is VERY helpful for me, but everyone is different!
Babydust to you!

Jill~ DD is 5 yrs old. I got PG first try with her no problem. Since then I married someone else and it's been almost 2 years now TTC. DH had a SA done and all is well in that category.

Most of us chart with FF. Click on the WW down at the bottom of our signatures and you can see how detailed the charts are. You record you morning temp each day as soon as you wake up before you get out of bed, before a drink of water or anything. You can see if and when you O with your temps. I also use OPK's. I'm not sure what you did on Babycenter, but to me it doesn't sound like it was enough. You may or may not want to go that route, but it helps. Good luck in TTC #2.

This is a good webforum. Everyone is really friendly and willing to help with any advise or questions. Or if you just need someone to vent to. Great bunch of people here.

Thanks! I hope you all get pregnant soon! Congrats Melissa! I was 33 when I was pregnant with my first too!

I checked out your charts. They are really detailed! Maybe I'll try for a month and see what it says. Should I start when I get my period or now? Can I just use a regular digital thermometer?

You need to get a Basal Body thermometer. You can get them at a drug store, and they are not expensive. You can start charting anytime, but it may be easiest to start when af comes. Accounts are free at www.fertilityfriend.com and you can learn a lot from reading on that site. Our charts are very detailed, but it is really easy to do, so don't be overwhelmed! It is such a good way to learn your cycle!

If you go under your profile (the tab at the top of this screen) you can add your ff homepage as a link, and you will get that www at the bottom of your signature (like I have). That makes it accessible for people to see it, in case you want help, or want people to "stalk" your chart if you have questions.

It is really easy to do, and quite addictive!

Sarah- I noticed you have been TTC for 3 months. Is your cycle usually the same every month?

Til I started charting I thought it was, but last month I had a super long cycle. If I'm ovulating now which I think I might be cause of my cm then this cycle is early. I'm just glad I know what to look for now so me and dh can bd! I also temp vaginally and that seems to work much better then temping orally. Everyone is different and like I said you can find out your not as regular as you think you are.

I went to RiteAid and got a thermometer, so I'll check tomorrow. Do you think it will be all messed up if I don't take my temp at the same time each day? I work Thurs, Fri, and Sat and get up much earlier on those days.

I tried to get back on the FF site, but it didn't recognize my username. It said my browser might not accept their cookies, but I tested it and it passed, so I have no clue what to do now.

The thermometer did come with a chart, so I'll just start with that for now.

Jill~ Glad you got your thermometer. Yes, definitely try to test the same time each day, even if you have to set your alarm early on the days you work later.

Yes, it is IDEAL to take you temp at the same time everyday. Not doing so will severly mess up your chart causing inaccurate results. Just temp at the same time everyday, except for the days that you have to work, temp as soon as you get up, even if you're getting up an hour or two earlier.

Does FF work for you now?
