Default Hello!!

Hi Girls!!

My name is Stephanie, I'll be 30 in a couple months, DH is almost 40, we've been together 6 years, married for a bit over 3, ttc since January.

I've been lurking on here for probably about 6 months, so I feel like I already know some of you (I hope that doesn't sound too creepy!!), but I've decided to sign up and I'll share a little of my background with you all. I knew ttc was going to be a challenge for us because of both of our histories, but here we are .

Back in 2001 I had a dermoid removed from my right ovary and my Ob found endo. BC managed my symptoms for a long time but unfortunately in 03 I developed a DVT, so no more BC for me. A couple years later my pain was becoming more and more severe, so in early 07 I had another lap done, removed more endo and discovered that my right fallopian tube was blocked. My OB wanted to confirm this result (sometimes there can be a spasm), so a couple months later he did a HSG and confirmed the results. He refered DH and I to an infertility specialist as DH had a vasectomy (no biological children but he was in a relationship with a woman who had twins that he basically raised from the age of 2 for 10 years). The RE said our best option would be IVF, however insurance would not cover IVF with DHs vasectomy, even with my history, plus I am not sure if I would want to do IVF anyway... In December of this past year DH had the reversal and it was a success, his counts were borderline low (20 million), but they said they should continue to increase as well, and all other specs looked great. Our RE suggested starting clomid right after the reversal but I wanted to wait about a year, my feeling was that who knows how many people have the same issues I have but have no idea because they got preggo with no problem (I know probably some denial here on my part, but I was trying to be optimistic )

Several weeks ago I started having a lot of right side pelvic pain and an ultrasound revealed what is a suspected endometrioma. So I have surgery scheduled for June 24th (another RE at the practice we have been going to has a strong interest and background with endo so he will be doing the surgery). He also mentioned starting on clomid right after the surgery, and I know our chances will go up after the surgery so it probably makes sense to go on the clomid right after. I'm a bit nervous though as it has been noted that it can make endo worse, and with my history of a blood clot I hate taking any type of hormonal type of thing, but I know what to look for so hopefully everything will go alright.

The main reason he wants me to take clomid is because my cycles are also very irregular, usually 35-40 days but can be longer. I have TCOYF and I have been temping (although really I've only been really good about temping for a month here and there), but it does look like I'm ovulating, so that's good. I do start spotting on day 10 of my LP with my period starting around day 12 or 13, but really I only have one solid month of "evidence", so I need to get better at temping. I probably will not sign up for ff because I don't want too many distractions while at work (one of the main reasons I didn't sign up here earlier!!), but perhaps I'll try to be better about only doing ff stuff at home, no promises though .

Sorry so long!!!

Hi Stephanie! Wow, you've been through alot. {hugs} to a fellow Endo gal. I hate endo.

Good luck to you and welcome! You should get a ticker going so we can stalk your chart

Thansk Claire!! Endo is such a frustrating thing because there is really nothing we can do about it!!

I'm torn on the ticker and the chart. I'm not really sure if I want everyone knowing exactly where I am as I think this may stress me out if everyone starts cheering during the tww, not that the encouragement is bad, but I don't know how much I even really want to think about it, much less having it stare me in the face everytime I post. Part of me wants to, but the other half is thinking that I may start to become mental about it, not that I won't anyway, but... Maybe I am just crazy, hahaha !!

Speaking from experience, you'll be mental about it anyway! Especially when the first thing you do in the morning is temp. Then it's on your mind all day. LOL. But it's up to you, of course.

Stephanie - Welcome. I'm glad you decided to join and share your story. It sounds like you have a lot going on, but you've done your homework and know where you are. I hope your surgery is a success. DVT is a really scary thing, so I know what you mean about the hormones, but I'm sure you and your RE know what to look for.

I agree with Claire.... you become mental anyway, but yes, sometimes it is harder to stay grounded....

Thanks Girls for the warm welcome!

One thing I was wondering is, should I be posting in the ttc section or the infertility section? I'm sure I'll end up posting in both, but I guess in regards to any treatments or what not? I don't want to make anyone upset if I post in the infertility section as I know some of you girls have been trying for many years.

I see no reason why you can't post in the IF section. I think you've got scars enough to say you've earned it . Most of the girls who've had Laps and such post in there.

Stephanie - I probably should have read here first before answering you in the IF thread, you have had more than one lap! So don't listen to me! Anyway, welcome. What is DVT, btw????

No problem Melissa!!

A DVT is a deep veinous thrombosis, which is a blood clot that develops within the deep veins in your leg and has the potential to break off and travel to your lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism, which can be very deadly.
