I am a business/computer teacher at a public school in a tiny town in ND. Our school currently has 19 kids K-12. So I work with kids in grades 4-12. I am also a high school volleyball coach in a neighboring town.

DH is a cattle rancher and also has a rural mail route.

Lisa- Your story cracks me up!

Default Hey!

I have my Bachelors of Science in Nursing & Hold a multi-state RN license.
That being said, I am not currently working & don't plan on returning to work as an RN. I want to be a SAHM, but I will keep my license up just in case.
DH owns & manages 5 car lots & a salvage yard.

I'm currently clerical volunteer in Maternity Department in the local hospital by me. Also, I'm currently a temp at one of the local Lord & Taylor by me as well, but hoping that will turn into a permanent part time job. Love to volunteer, but need money so don't need to rely on my parents all the time for it.

Thank you.

Jessica - Theres more reason behind why we choose for me to not work. I've enjoy working and being independant and have experienced it before. But my desire to be a SAHM is much more important to me. Despite that we're currently not pregnant or have any children, we feel that since we've been TTC and we dont know when we will get pregnant, I dont feel its right for me to go out and find a job if I know Im going to go and quit when I do find out Im pregnant, which for all I know could be next month or the month after that.

Not only that but I have major trust issues and I know that once our child is born, I will not just be able to pass him/her off to just anyone and I wouldnt be able to just be home for a few short weeks only to return to work. We read so many horror stories of nannies, daycares, and even accidents that happen when children are babysat by other people. And in my opinion, I am not going through all this fertility stuff just so I can have my baby and have some careless person accidently kill my child. I know thats a bit extreme but its geuninely how I feel.

I do respect those who choose to work. I do respect those who choose to put their children in daycare or stay with nannies, but it just isn't for me.

Anyways, I do understand what you mean about not wanting to depend on anyone in case something was to happen, and I used to think that way before, too. Witnesseing my mother go through two divorces, I know how ugly they can get. But I guess Im no longer afraid of that happening since I know the kind of person my DH is and we both know and understand the reason why we chose this.

Jend-a detective, huh. How cool!

I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and currently work for a non-profit agency as a program manager supervising a counseling program for "at-risk" youth and families.

I forget DH's official title-he works with computer databases (sequel I think?) and other technical things that I don't really understand

Good idea!

I'm an admin assist. for a small plastics company. DH is finishing up is Masters of Divinity this May, and will be looking for a position as a pastor in a church as soon as he's done. Right now, he works as the Maintenance Guy for a plant nursery that he's work for since he was 14 -1/2 his life!
We're due in July, so I hope that we don't have to move until after the baby is born. Should be interesting.
