I KNOW I couldnt or wouldnt get in a dumpster for food. I wouldnt mind growing all my own food though

Well, I don't think I could go garbage-picking for food either, but really, it was a wake-up call to see how much STUFF gets thrown away. My little brothers both work at a grocery store and bring stuff home all the time. They say that so many things get thrown out that are perfectly good, but they are required to toss them for whatever reason (expiration, one broken egg, etc.)
Although I couldn't imagine doing it myself (well, maybe I could in a group like they were), it was interesting to think about the fact that, a few hours earlier, we would happily purchase those wrapped items in the store. Now, just b/c they are outside, still in the same wrapping, we say, "eww, I wouldn't take that."
Just makes me think...

(It did inspire me to get moving on listing furniture I no longer want on Craigslist. I've already gotten four offers in half a day's time!)

I just spent 30 mins reading a/b the Freegans. I'd already been planning to get rid of all the stuff we have and don't need. I just joined freecycle to see if that can happen.
