Default Summer Vacations...

I know we had a thread from last year, but I couldn't find it...
If anyone is planning vacations, or has suggestions of places/things to do, this would be a good place to post!

We're planning our vacation with the kids for this summer, and we're going to Orlando, FL. We have taken them to Disney twice, so we're thinking of taking them to Universal Studios and to do things we havent done before. Does anyone have any suggestions about other things to do with kids in Orlando? I know there is SO much there, but I have no idea what would be good...

Any ideas?

Lauren~I live about an hour from Orlando. Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure are really fun. If the kids like water parks you could go to Wet n Wild or one of the water parks at Disney. There is Sea World & Discovery Cove too. At Discovery Cove you can swim with the dolphins & snorkle. There is also an area that isn't too far from Disney/Universal that has places you can play putt putt golf & other attractions.
Orlando Attractions - International Drive Florida

Here in Brevard county we have the space center if you have never toured that.

If I can think of anything else I let you know.

Tammi~ Thank you for the ideas! We LOVE Typhoon Lagoon, so we will probably take the kids back there. I would love to do Discovery Cove, but it is around $250 a person for the day, and I would rather wait until the kids are a little older, so they will remember it more for that much money!

Tonight we bought tickets to see Blue Man Group while we're there. Has anyone ever seen them???

I was always a fan of Disney but Universal sounds awesome. I would try that. I spent a few days doing St. Augustine with my family when I was around 11. I thought that was amazing but I was a nerdy kid anyway.

Lauren, Dh and I saw the blue man group a few years back in Vegas and they are awsome! The kids will love it

I dont think we are going anywhere. Maybe So Cal and then do Disney for a day or just hang out at the beach and the lake in Mission Viejo

We don't have plans. I think we should go visit my in laws but it is a 13 hour drive to the middle of British Columbia. It is hard to leave the Seattle area when it is summer time here. Better to go somewhere warm in the winter and be here in the summer. I am sure we will spend some time at my parents cabin and maybe a trip to the Oregon coast for a long weekend. I need to get DH to figure out how much vacation he has.

Dream trip would be to spend 2 weeks in Italy on the coast. Just live there, relax and eat.

lauren-I would love to see Blue man group. you will have a great time I'm sure. I have never been to disney, so I can't add in on that.

We are going to Maine for a week in July. We rented a house on the coast about 1/2 hour from Bar Harbor. It should be a blast. We are going up the week of Bri's birthday.

laura-Italy sounds wonderful. If it was only not a dream.

As you already know we're heading to MB for a long weekend next month then in late June/early July, we're going to Temagami. This will be our first 'real' vacation ALONE! We've always been with family or friends (except our honeymoon, of course). This vacation is going to be a stress free one, too since I won't have to cook, clean, make beds...etc! We're actually staying at a 'resort' type place instead of our friend's island.

Lisa~ I have heard it is great. My mom went in Vegas a little while back and loved it. We bought front row seats, so I guess we'll be wearing ponchos to keep the blue paint off of us! I think the kids will be so excited!

Laura~ OHHH! That would be wonderful. I have not been to Italy in about 10 years. Since DH and I got married we have planned all of our vacations around his kids. It is great, but usually that means that relaxing trips to Europe are out. At least for now.

Mom of 3~ I have never been to Maine, but I would love to. I think we end up planning vacations for places that we have been before, and loved, rather than trying new places.

Bec~ I hope I can see you while you're there!

We are leaving on July 5th to go to Gulf Shores, Ala. I have never been, but I heard it is so beautiful. The water is really clear and the sand is really white.

So we are looking forward to it.

That's fun. It's probably a great change of environment.

Not sure the dates yet but we are going to Destin Florida. I just love it there! I can't wait to go to the beach since we didn't get to go last year.

Christie - If you go to Portland I might be able to talk DH for a trip down there. I have been wanting to take the train down, stay downtown and do some sales tax free shopping. We can all go to lunch or dinner. Fun fun!!
