I didn't vote because it didn't take me 6 months ttc, but endometriosis tends to be genetic. My grandmother, my mom, me & 3 aunts on my moms side of the family has been diagnosed with it. We have all been very fortunate in ttc. I thought I would be different because I am the only one that waited to have children. But it hasn't effected our fertility, just alot of female problems, heavy bleeding, anemia, & lots of pain.

Both of my parents actually had fertility issues. My mom had endometriosis (which is my problem) and my dad had low sperm count. She ended up having a cyst the size of a soccerball, which was attached to her lung? and it burst, so she had an emergency surgery and a histerechtamy when I was 4. I am so thankful technology continues to improve!

My parents started ttc right after they got married, June of 1970. They didn't have my sister until January of 1972, so...10 months ttc to get my sis.
They never prevented for me, mother was nursing, so that knocks out a lot of the first year after my sis was born, but I'm four years and one month younger than she is, so...about two and a half years of ttc to get me. They had all sorts of tests done, which all turned up normal. Then, seven and a half years after I was born, SURPRISE, my little brother was on the way. They were 37 and 38 at the time, and back then, that was almost UNHEARD of. It's nice that she can empathize with me about ttc. We talked about it when I told her about our second m/c. I told her six or eight weeks ago. She also told me that my grandmother had a m/c after she had my mom, before her two younger brothers. |

my family has more issues with pregnancy DESPITE trying to avoid it
1) i was a surprise (mom was 15, dad was 21)....i was conceived day 6 of every other time 28 day cycle... 2) my mom stopped bc when i was 1, cuz she was told it would take 6 mos to a year after the pill....the next month, my brother was on the way.... 3)...when he was 1, again she stopped the pill, but they used condoms...oops brother #2 took just 2 months to be conceived as my mother & her sisters say....if you breathe wrong on a date, you're pg...........(some of them got pg using multiple bc...pill plus condom plus diapragm......)....... my dad's family is a bit more spaced out, but they definately don't talk about conception!! so i really have no idea (my one aunt that side decided to never have kids---unless she just can't, but has a public front...and my gramma that side died when i was little)..... |

My mom had 6 kids total: 4 from a previous marriage and 2 from my dad. Apparently, they had unprotected intercourse (though I don't think they were "trying") for 8 years before conceiving my sister and then I came shortly after. So I guess you never know!
