Sarah, Charleston, SC is great there are a lot of things you can do there. There is the market area, ladies there weaving baskets and they have them for sale too. All shapes and sizes. Then there are the Forts, the old houses, horse and carriage tours, the Aquarium, lots and lots of great restaurants, the beach, and I could go on and on. Oh don't forget Southern hospitatility.

I'm with Lisa, Charleston is gorgeous. We went there to the beach this year. Love it.. That's the only place on that list I have been.

I've never been to any of them, but since there is one here in Houston, I will try to go see it now.

Hey no problem. I thought it was cool. Sad that none are near where I grew up but industrial towns like Cleveland and Pittsburgh aren't known for being too pretty or fasinating.

I have never been to any of them either, however I would love to go to Nantucket one day. We just have not been able to go yet. Funny, since we use to live so close to there too.

I have seen the Oregon coast, DH and I drove the whole thing after we got married in a little convertable totally the way to see it! I dream of living in one of the little eclectic towns there someday. I have also been to the place in San Fransisco, but I was young and didnt appreciate it very much.
I am sad to see that some of the more natural wonders like the Grand Canyon or Crater Lake didnt make the list.

The Oregon coast is really beautiful. I like it too-except that's where the inlaws are -so I don't want to live there!

My state was #1! Actually, of all the wonderful old churches in NM, I'm surprised that one would top the list. Guess it's thanks to Ms O'Keefe.

Then again, I'm probably wierd for having such an interest in old colonial buildings and pueblos.

Of all the things that could have been on the list, putting the Four Seasons Restaurant in NYC on there is a complete crock if you ask me. DH and I went there one night for dinner to scope it out since he was supposed to take clients there the next week. It was ridiculously expensive and unless you have grey hair they treat you like dirt. I don't even remember if it was the city's "prettiest dining room" because we were so disappointed in the service. The Grand Marnier souffle was really good though.

I've been to Cannon Beach in Oregon and it is really beautiful although it was really foggy when I went. I will have to remember some of those other places since DH and I were just saying that our travels within the U.S. are sadly lacking!

Wow...I have only been to the Oregon Coast and Huntington Library on that top 10 list...I love Cannon Beach, I went there as a kid and collected my first sand dollars and it holds a special place in my heart because that's where they filmed Goonies one of the best movies ever! I wanted to get married at the Huntington Library, but apparently they don't have weddings there . When Cap'n and I were in Boston last year, I kept bugging him to go to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, it is in the book 1,000 Places to See Before You Die but we walked the Freedom Trail instead.

I agree with Claire, I think the French Quarter in NOLA should be on the list...
