Kelly and Kristy- I definitely want to get together again. We have to have Bina meet us and we'll have two preggo's. Kelly, are you thinking of trying again soon?

I had my doctor's appt today. This is 5 weeks after delivery. I gained 18 pounds while I was pregnant and I have lost 21!! I am down 3 from my pre-pg weight!!! I cannot believe it!

I mentioned the anxiety and the dr said that was pretty normal for a first time mom especially and as long as it is not interfering with me getting out or enjoying him I shouldn't worry (ha!) about it. If I want to take something he can give me something but would rather I wait it out. I thought that is what he would say after all the responses from new mommies on here.

I'll be posting some more pictures this weekend. We are going to the Arboretum and getting photos taken at the pumpkin patch. We went shopping today for some cute fall clothes. I am excited!!

Jo - We are probably waiting until next summer. Then the kids would be 3 years apart instead of 2 like we had originally wanted. We're not really preventing though, so if it happens sooner, we'll still be thrilled.

Regarding the portraits, after accepting the fact that no matter where I go it's going to cost an arm and a leg, I decided to choose the studio that accepts walk-ins and is most convenient for me. Since I have somewhat of a schedule with Dominic I didn't want to make an appointment and then have him suddenly decide that it's eating time when we get there. So I went to Target studio. They are the same studio as the one in JCPenney stores.

We got some REALLY cute photos. I ordered 9 poses in all different sizes. One of them is going to hang above his crib. It is a picture of him with Hot Dog, my husband's childhood stuffed dog. He is missing his eyes, nose and a large patch of hair is missing from his constant petting. It is a special memento to DH. I am very pleased with how the pictures turned out. I'm glad I wore a cute shirt, as I even got to be in some of them. I cannot wait until they come in-which won't be until at least the 23rd!! >(

Hi, girls. Unfortunately, I am not actually joining you yet. I am STILL playing the waiting game. Im a bit worried that our baby has decided to be a Scorpio. I have NO signs; no blood, no mucus, no loose bowels, NOTHING that might indicate his arrival, and as of last Thursday I was not dilated or effaced (he is pretty far down in my pelvis, though). Did any of you go really fast (in other words; did any of you go into labor without all the "signs")? Also, did any of you do anything to naturally induce labor that worked!? I am ready to try just about anything. I have read all of the midwives sites on natural induction, and other than drinking castor oil or inserting the Evening Primrose Oil, I am trying everything. I am a bit scared to do either of those things until asking my doctor on Thursday.
Oh, one more question; have any of you had your membranes stripped? A friend of mine is one week ahead of me, and goes to the same doc. He stripped her membranes this week. I am thinking he may want to do the same to me; but couldn't that break your water? I am sort of scared; I know it hurts, and that's ok, but I am just afraid of him breaking my water and Im suddenly on a timeline!
Sorry for the novel; hopefully I will be joining you ladies on this side, soon!!!!

Krissy- Sorry you are so uncomfortable, with my son after my 38 week appt we went home & dtd and it actually started labor that night. I was already dilated 2 cm so dont know if that had anything to do with it. I've heard that stripping the membranes can help bring on labor but is not a guarantee. Hopefully your little one just needs a few more days to be ready & labor will start on its own.

Krissy - I'm sorry your baby is not cooperating!! I know the feeling. I ate an entire pineapple (they are supposed to cause uterine contractions) and nothing...my dr stripped my membranes at least 3 times...again. nothing. I will never have that done again. You just have to wait until the little one is ready to come out and your body is ready. I know it is so hard and you are so ready. I read up on the caster oil and even walked by it in Walmart but decided that the other side effects sounded more scary than the potential benefit so I passed on that option. GL you will be done soon.

Jo - I'm glad you got Dom's pictures taken and like them! We got Ava's back too and they were really cute. How could you not get all the poses??!

Well, I SHOULD be on this side by now, but this baby is OFFICIALLY late, and showing no signs of coming anytime soon. I, of course, am completely obsessing over this, so I thought I would see how many of you went over your due dates? I'm not dilated at all; which is what is really scaring me more than anything. They can't even strip my membranes or anything because you have to be dilated a little to do that. Anyways, any advice on getting through the next few days/weeks without going crazy would be appreciated, and if you have some great advice on getting things started that I don't know about, I would also love to hear it!

Krissy - I went 9 days past my due date and it definitely wasn't easy! My midwife did a really intense internal exam when I was 7 days over - she pushed her finger through my cervix which was about 1cm dialated. It did start my labor but it progressed sooooo slowly and Matthew didn't arrive until 2 days later. They had to use Pitocin to keep my contractions strong and I had to push for 4 hours and in the end they used the vacuum to help get him out. Now, Matthew's head never molded at all and maybe that is why everything was so slow...but looking back, I probably should have just waited him out. I was so determined NOT to have a baby born on Halloween that I didn't care if they had to induce me - he was born on 10/29. Next time (if there is a next time), I will just wait it out - maybe labor will be easier/quicker if your body is the one to start everything. GL and hopefully you won't be waiting too long!

Thanks, Dana--my patience is running low! Hopefully soon! I posted this question on the pg side, too, but will post here as well. I had a sonogram this a.m., and found out that baby is sunny side up. Any advice on how to get him to turn? I was hoping to have a drug free delivery, and am TERRIFIED of back labor! Thanks in advance

Krissy- I had HORRIBLE back labor & hope you don't get it. They thought Brady was sunny side up too... the nurses told me to get on my hands and knees & rock back & forth to try & get the baby to move. It didn't work for me & ended up with an emergency c-section (pelvis is to small) but maybe it will work for you. Hope he comes out soon.

Just in case you do get back labor I do suggest bringing a back massager to the hospital for labor. Also have your dh press on your back where it is hurting for counter pressure, this helped for me.

So I've got a funny story. Tonight DH and I went to the 5pm Mass and immediately after we decided to stop by a local pizzeria and eat dinner. Dominic was sleeping happily after eating himself into a boob-induced coma, so we had some time to enjoy the nice weather we've been having.
We told the hostess that we wanted to sit outside and if she could bring us a highchair that would be great. She brought the highchair over and then asked, "do you want me to bring him some crayons?" Dominic is only 7 weeks old!! DH and I looked at one another and actually laughed, thinking she was joking. She wasn't. DH said, "He doesn't even know what crayons are."
We just thought that was so funny.

hey ladies, sorry its been so long, we are officially moved into our new home!! its so great! Luke has been sleeping in his crib since we moved in and he is doing great. he is actually taking naps now too, which is heaven sent, lol. i really think he might be teething, i dont feel anything but his cheeks are red, he slobbers like a dog (nothing new though) and constantly sucks his hands and his bottom lip. we will see...
That is so funny about the crayons, i always thought it was funny when people would try to guess how old luke was (like in the grocery store line etc) and say like 6 months when he was 6 weeks. and he isnt a big baby (crazy people). we went to sears for lukes first pics and i didnt like them. i was very disappointed because we have always gone there with good results. this next time we are going to jcpenny. they have a coupon for 3.99 each sheet, sears used to have that but now they have it where you have to buy so many at regular price before you get the discounted sheets
krissy, any news yet. im gonna go peak at the prego side for an update

Last night I got up and fed Dominic and he fell back asleep. I was just getting up to put him back in bed when he giggled!! It was in his sleep, but still the sweetest little giggle I've ever heard. I've had the video camera handy all day today hoping to catch him but alas, no more giggles.

We have our 8-week appt tomorrow. He will get two more shots. I'll post how he's progressing when we get home. I predict that he now weighs 8 lbs 5 oz. Let's see how close I get.

Jo--That is so funny; sounds like I am going to give birth to a baby bigger than Dominic is now! They estimated Ely in the 9-10 lb range (I know, I am terrified!) Good luck with the shots. No real updates here; I have to wait until Monday to get checked, and we will probably schedule an induction at that point.

Well, DH and I went to the dr appt and then went to early voting. I cannot believe it, but my little Dominic blew us away with his amazing weight gain. He weighs 10,7!!!! WOW!! We were just sure he was close to 8.5 and then the nurse kept moving the slide up and up and up. We were all shocked! I guess he's getting plenty of hindmilk afterall.

He's all dressed up in his puppy costume and we are waiting on time to go by before we go to our neighborhood party. I'll take lots of pictures. He even has a little tail!! So cute!
