Hi girls! I haven't been around for awhile so I just stopped by to say hi!
We moved out about a week and a half ago and we still haven't gotten around to hooking the internet back up and then I was hospitalized since Sunday and I just got out yesterday because of my gallstones. It seems that I have pancreatitis and i'm gonna have to get my gallbladder taken out, so that'll be happening in the next couple of weeks. The worst part of my hospital stay was being away from my babies but they were in good hands. |

Well, Took Brady in for his 6 month checkup this morning and he weighs 15 lbs 1 oz and is 26 inches long. Still only 10%ile on weight but the doctor said he has made a good improvement. He had mentioned last time about maybe having to see a neurologist because the back of his head was so flat from being in the hospital for so long, but today he said that his head is rounding out good and he doesnt think we will need to see the neurologist!!! I am so happy!!!
How are all the other new mommies doing? |

bradys mom- sounds like good improvement. i read an article once about those helmets they put one little babys to round out their head. oh those poor little kids looked uncomfortable with them on but i guess with the sleep on their back campaign there has been and increase in mis-shaped heads. lucas had his four month check up this week. he is in the 25th% for ht and wt but he has been that way since birth so he is growing right. my son justin was in the 10th percentile until he was about 8 months old. now he is 9 and is still a bit short but catching up

Hello Everyone!! It has been so long since I got on here! I've been very busy with work and spending time with Ben. Ben is doing great just turned 6 months two days ago! He's tons of fun with all his smiling and cooing! We had two incidents a two weeks ago were I found him dusky with his lips blue and had to pick him up and startle him which absolutely scared me to death
. The pediatrician is having us see a cardiologist this week. So far the dr thinks its probably just a fluke. I hope everyone is doing great! I have a ton of catching up to do! |

Crystal- the doctor had mentioned a helmet but said that they are very expensive and insurance considers them "for cosmetic purposes only"...I had thought about getting one but the doctor didn't seem to concerened. He actually had us start having him sleep on his side starting at 4 months and now he prefers it so hopefully within the next few months it will get better. At 4 months it was almost as flat as a wall....when he was in the hospital he had to always be on his back and when he came home he had an illeostomy bag so we couldnt handle him very much and had to keep him on his back so that the bags wouldnt leak. He just started sitting up on his own so that should help.
Well taking my neice to Bob Evans for breakfast, I hope everybody has a great Saturday. |

Kristy- I can't believe it either. We need to start planning another lunch date. Hopefully we'll have two preggos this time. I'm following your surrogate story. Good luck on Thursday!
Ok, question time! Where do you girls recommend for photos? I want to get Dominic's one month picture done but need a good place. Should I just go to a real photographer or are the JCPenney type places okay? What about pricing? What should I expect to pay? |

Hello Ladies!
Jo - I haven't done any pictures of Ava yet. Sorry I don't post much. We are so busy keeping up with Ava and working it is hard to find time for myself! And if I do it is spent outside...snow is coming! I hope everyone is doing well! What are your little ones going to be for Halloween? Ava is going to be a mermaid! It is so cute I can't wait to put her into it!! |

We took Brady to get pictures at Picture People in the mall. They didn't cost too much...I think it was under $100 and they did a great job. If I can figure out how to attach pictures to my profile I will add some of the ones from there.

Jo, I LOVE Penney's personally. It depends on the worker though. KWIM? If you find a good one, then stick with them. The one by us will take pics for 20-30 minutes or until the baby has a melt down.

jo- i know what you mean, luke is 5 months old! crazy huh? We have always gone to sears for pictures but when i took luke for his three month (it was more like 4 months) i was not happy at all. i told the lady i am only buying one pose of the two boys together, thinking she would do the majority of the shots together. nope. she did four of justin four of luke and three of both of them, one of which shouldnt could cause luke was crying and justin was trying to pick him up. i will give them one more chance and if they disappoint me this month i will also be looking for somewhere else to get them done. but i agree with spamelita, if you find a good person, stick with them!

I don't know if this is the right place to put this question but I've been wondering: is there such a thing as postpartum anxiety? I have always been a worry-wart but now I worry about something happening to Dominic all the time. I am constantly afraid that he will stop breathing in his sleep or that he will choke after a feeding.
I know all parents worry, but this seems excessive to me. It seems to be worse at night or when I am alone with him in the evening. During the night he sleeps in his bassinet next to my side of the bed and I make DH keep a nightlight on and I sleep in my glasses so that I can constantly check to see that he is breathing. I have my 6 week follow-up this Friday and I plan on letting my doctor know about this. I'm kind of afraid to take anything though. I plan on talking with DH about it tonight but he is at a Knights of Columbus meeting right now and usually stays to talk to his friends afterward and gets home late. Other than the constant worry I feel great. I have no signs of depression, but I guess anxiety is a form of depression, right? |

Jo - You are right, the worry as a mother is always there. I found myself worrying more at different times. I think time helps soothe those worries. Ava had salmonella a month ago and I've worried ever since that she was going to get it again. Having them sleep next to you it always comforting. I learned quickly after my m/c that life is not predictable and you don't know what is going to happen next. He will be fine. You are not the only mother who has lost sleep over this or woke up and jumped out of bed and shook the baby to find that he/she was perfectly fine sleeping soundly!
It helped me to get back to work or stay busy and focus on other things than every single move that the baby made or didn't make. Being a mother is truly the best experience in my life but also the most nervous I've ever been! I'm a worry wart too. She got a cold a month ago and still has snot nose and a bit of a cold...of course I took her to the dr. I was convinced she was developing some terrible illness. Nope. Just a daycare, snot nose. I've been told by many..."Get used to it". I think mentioning it to your dr. is a good idea. My dr. told me just yesterday that I have to just "let it go" and stop worrying. There is no reason to drive yourself crazy over things you cannot control. Have faith in the higher up, he/she will take care of you! (HUGS)Last edited by ivanababy : 10-08-2008 at 10:27 AM. |

Jo, those could be signs of PPD even though you don't feel depressed. I think Lisa experienced the same symptoms you are mentioning. When it becomes so much that it interferes with your ability to enjoy your baby then you need help. It isn't a weakness. MOST women have some degree of PPD or anxiety especially 1st time moms. I will say it does get better with each baby and you enjoy each one more because you are less anxious of doing something wrong. (((Hugs)))
