![]() Here you will find useful information, tips and examples of items you can create in the wonderful world of Digital Scrap booking and lots of fun things to do with Photoshop!! I will be adding more things to the page through-out the week, so stay tuned!! Enjoy what is here so far. ![]() ![]() When making anything you want to print you will need at least a 300 dpi (dots per inch) /resolution. This will give you a nice quality print. To do this in your photoshop program go to File>New File; Next - from the menu that comes up under the preset drop down menu select a size layout you want (2x3; 4x6 ;5x7 ; 8x10 etc). I also like to set my background as Transparent at first, you can always add a background later. ![]() You will notice when you select any of those settings (2x3; 4x6 ;5x7 ; 8x10 etc) , the resolution will automatically change to 300 dpi since they are presets ![]() In the new file drop down menu, just make sure to enter your file size in inches; and under the resolution enter 300 for the number. You can also save these custom presets in the same menu above. ![]() Open your web ready image(which is 72 dpi); be sure to create a duplicate file of the image to prevent overwriting the original. Then select Image > Image size > from the menu that comes up select the check box re sample image > In the resolution area enter 300 > select OK. Your image should resize itself after a few moments, and enlarge to the actual file; which will be very large and not fit on your screen. Click the magnify option and at the top of the program select the button that says Print size for a preview of what your document will look like printed. It will print out perfect! ![]() ![]() Simple. Just make sure your page layout resolution is set at 72 Dpi and then feel free to create your graphics. I will be posting lots more tutorials below to get you familiar with Photoshop and to polish up your skills. This tutorial is posted below in the next post, but please check it out. It shows how to resize images properly. Resizing Objects Proportionately - Tutorial More info and screen shots coming!!

![]() Making Glitter Fills Same steps for making glitter names - Filter>Noise>Add Noise> then duplicate your main glitter name and Filter>Noise>Add Noise> but this time increase the noise by 1. You can add as many layers to this as you want, always increasing the noise for each layer. I normally do 2-4 layers. If your using Photoshop you have to save your document as the following. File>Save for Web> then save your file as a "GIF" document if wanting to your animation to loop itself and play/glitter. More info being added this weekend about Imageready! ![]() You can search in your favorite search engine under "glitter fills","Clear Glitter fills", "Transparent fills", "Sparkle fills" and "Glitter Graphic Patterns". glitterfills photobucket1 photobucket2 goodies ![]() Program Basic Just a Note about Imageready( if you have Photoshop already it comes with Imageready): Imageready can animate images, can do a little bit of what PS can do but with more features. You can create slices to optize loading times on websites, you can create hyperlinks and rolloverstates and much more. ![]() Brushes are like Stamps in a way. For example when I made this heart, I used a heart shapped brush. ![]() More info coming to this topic about Custom Shapes, Clip Art and ImageReady!!

![]() Here is a list of site that have FREE fonts!! You can also type "free fonts" into any search engine! More coming!! ![]() Download the fonts - then under your control Panel ( on your pc) you will see a folder called "fonts" - either download the fonts directly there or drag and drop them into that folder. Sometimes when you download a font they DO directly get saved to the proper folder, but more often they dont - So you have to move them there. Make sure you have extracted(unzipped) the files before moving into the fonts folder. ![]() Tip: If you go to each sites BLOG you will find FREEBIES! ![]() Smilebox was one of the very first sites I ever tried. It is so simple and does all the work for you. All you have to do is supply the pictures into their software and Voilą! Smilebox is free for everyone! but has the option for a paid account - which gives you the Original Print Quality files. Their free account users get web quality pages which are not suitable for printing. Tip for FREE account users: if you hit the "print screen" button on your pc you can paste the image into a paint program, like paint.net ( same program you may have downloaded for "how to add color to a b/w picture" then crop it and save or print!! The "print screen" button DOESN'T actually PRINT from your printer, but takes a screen shot of your screen. This step does not apply to those that have purchased a Smilebox account. They allow paid account members to save the original quality print file.

![]() What is a Photoshop Action? Photoshop Actions are the recordings of commands that can be applied to an image or multiple images. When Photoshop plays an action, it applies these recorded commands to an image sequentially. You can store hundreds of useful actions on your computer and load them into Photoshop whenever you want to apply the commands applied by the action. Why do I Need Actions? You can automate many time consuming routines by using actions. Take advantage of this powerful Photoshop tool to save you many hours of work. With just one click you can resize hundreds of images, convert them to Black & White, Sharpen, Cross-Process, or add borders and copyrights. So, don't miss out, try one of our Photoshop actions today! How do I Install a Photoshop Action? 1. Save your Photoshop Actions in: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Presets\Photoshop Actions (default location). Always keep a copy of the actions you buy or download toprevent making changes 2. Open Photoshop and press "F9" (Option+F9 on Mac), or simply go to "Window > Actions" to open the Actions palette. 3. Click on the small triangle in the right upper corner or the Actions palette. 4. Select > "Load Actions" from the menu, then locate your downloaded action and press "Load" (repeat this step if loading several actions). 5. Click on the triangle next to the Action Set to expand it, then select one of the actions. 6. With the action selected within the action set click "Play" button located at the bottom of the actions palette to run the selected action. Tips: You must have an image open and generally it must be "flat" (not layered) for the actions to work properly. Actions are stored in "Action Sets" that can include up to 100 different actions. I Press "Play" but Nothing Happens? What am I Doing Wrong? In most cases when nothing happens after you press "Play" button you have forgotten to select the action from the actionset. To select an action from the actionset click the small triangle next to the actionset name to expand it. Select an action by clicking on it and click "Play" button again. ![]() ADDICTED TO DESIGN FreePhotoshop The Lights Right Studio It does have some FREE ones but you have to search for them, all other actions cost a small fee.
