Amber - that totally sucks about the hospital....uhg....they should totally be spending their energy harrassing the people that haven't paid anything, and not you who is almost done and has promised to pay the rest on a schedule! Jerks.

Also, as for the feeding solids....I did only cereal ( organic baby oatmeal ) for one week, and then started introducing other things one at a time, or mixed with the cereal (since I already knew she wan't having a reaction to it) Most of the time, I just breastfeed her throughout the day, and then her dinner breastfeeding is at 5-6 pm time....then an hour after that,I give her her "solid" for the day....so far we are still only doing one thing at a time, then an hour or a little more later is bedtime boobie or bottle and put her down to sleep.

Today we tried Pears for the first time. She has had Oatmeal for a week, then Applesauce 4 days(Motts Natural regular applesauce - not baby food), then Carrotsevery other day for 4 days, alternated with oatmeal and applesauce, then Bananas one night, then tried a little yo-baby mixed with the oatmeal, then sweet potatos, then today Pears.....we still have peas, prunes, squash, and so many others to try....but after I have tried one thing once for a few days, I can mix things together, etc. I will mix pretty much anything in with the oats, makes them more flavorful, plus adds the iron and the fiber from the oats to whatever else I am giving her. Some days, if she is acting extra hungry, I will feed her a "lunch" around 11 am. I always feed her the boobie first, then wait about an hour and try the solid....then another hour and a half later it is time for the boobie again.

I must say I am not waiting the 4 day rule in between new foods...I am trying one thing at a time, but usually it is only 1-2 days before I give her something else. However, we have NO food allergies in our family, so I don't have too much worry. I will probably lay off on the yogurt, though for now. Although Our Dr. said it was ok to give her bites of yogurt/ice cream/cottage cheese at this point she said not a whole thing of her own, but bites of ours, or a little mixed in with her cereal or fruit - that was what I did with the Yo-Baby was mixed about a tablespoon up with her oatmeal and some real smashed bananas ( thought it might counteract the constipating effect of bananas - it did)???

Also, she does better with thicker foods, so the stage one baby foods are too thin really, I am starting to make my own, now and I am making them thicker....also I have a few stage 2s for her to try I got with coupons.

Kedney - I haven't given CJ any extra vitamins, I take a prenatal myself ( try to remember anyway....I succeed about every other day anymore...I did well the first 3 months or so , though) she gets plenty of sun, and from what I understand, they get/absorb much more vitamins form mother's milk than they would from formula, so I don't see any need to supplement with vitamins, unless you yourself have a deficiency(sp?) of something?

Jess, thanks for that information. As you stated everthing has sugar in it and the extra things that come in Yobaby offset the sugar to me.
Kristy ~ We did! Here is some information I have, but please remember I live in Canada and somethings are a bit differently researched. It is "recommended" here that we give them Also 20min per day in the sun, does the same thing!!!

Lauren, I totally agree about the gifts. DH is just trying too hard! I'd be happy with some new jeans and skirts but I think he got me a new GPS tracker. We have gone geocaching in the past with friends and I loved it but we don't have time for it now and I can't see taking the girls on stuff like that. Not to mention he probably spent WAY too much on it. Oh well. What about weekend nights that way you get to sleep in b/c DH is home?

Amy, Nate is too funny! The girls hated the grass at first too...unless they were trying to eat it! How's the crying it out going? I hope it works out for you. I've found recently that when I go in their room when they cry (not often anymore) they just get more upset when I leave than if I don't go in at all. It hurts but it works.

Cassie, aww, I hope she's not getting sick!

Christie, it takes them a little bit to get used to the formula. I'm sure he'll be pooping like normal once he adjusts. What a cutie!

Kristy, we were told to give the vitamins by the NICU docs but the girls were not taking them well so they said they didn't really need them anyway. Our pedi said to wait until after a year.

Ksh, my picky eater girls wouldn't touch their cake either! I think it was the texture they didn't like. Not to mention they tasted a bit and were completely turned off b/c they HATE sweets. Sorry about your cousin, I hope everyone is doing better.

Have a good night ladies!

Hi I have read all the posts but my mind istn't working good tonight lol.I am sooo tired I just wanted to say hope everyone's little ones sleep ALL NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tammy - I don't mind a little mess when eating but I don't let Lela eat really messy things by herself. If it is something too messy I will give her the spoon and help her put it on the spoon and then she can get the spoon to her mouth. But I am bad I don't let her play in the food. I never did with Madison either and she was able to feed herself very well without a mess I can't remember the exact age but she was pretty young. I really don't think there is a right or wrong way but for me I don't do the mess lol.

I had someone make a comment this weekend that really offended me. We were at a picnic and this was only the second time this person saw Lela and she said "Oh she's cute but now Madison was a true beauty at that age" UGHHHHHH I wanted to say okay lady what the @#%! are you saying that my baby is ugly? But I held in my anger and said to her "Well I think Lela is a "true" beauty too and if everyone looked the same it would be a boring world" and she got all tongue tied and tried to defend herself but Lela started to wonder away so I had to go after her. I mean so what if you think Madison was a cuter child than Lela but don't say that to me her MOTHER because the claws come out. I don't compare the physical beauty of my two girls they are both beautiful to me. Okay sorry for the vent.

Robin- I think your response was perfect!! Both your girls ARE beautiful!! My mom always says to me now your nephew is so beautiful like a china doll with those big blue eyes of his. Then everytime she sees Mason she has to point out his eyes aren't as blue as Matthew's.

Tammy - Our government doesn't give us free classes like that. Tammy you have that whole free social health care thing. I just saw the movie "Sicko" and with our government after seeing that you don't want to live in the USA anymore. Every American should see that movie!!

Ksh- Aww sorry she cried at her cake. Was it because of the candle in it?

Lou- I didn't even know there was such a thing as geocaching. LOL

Amber- That is terrible. Hopefully you will get someone else who will be more helpful tomorrow. Maybe a supervisor. $1300 is a big portion you had to pay!!

Amy- We were going to go away but that fell through so not sure what we are doing but DH is off all week after tomorrow!! Yay!! We have always went away for our anniversary so it's weird not going somewhere but would be nice to just stay home too. DH suggested getting a sitter & going for a couples massage & dinner. Sounds good to me.

kelly- It took me months for my hips/pelvis to go back to normal. They still aren't 100%. When I move my leg a certain way I still feel that pain. Hope you feel better soon!!

Kedney- I only gave Mason 1/2 tsp today and he pooped really easy!! That was with food too!! Yay!!

I gave Mason blueberries for the 1st time today. OMG he LOVED them that he actually cried for more. I felt bad I couldn't give him anymore because it was his first day on them and I had to make sure no reactions.

Judith Brandon has a severe milk allergy we didn't find out until he was 10 months old and dh dropped him off at mil house and forgot to take formula well she thought i'll just give him milk 2 months early won't be a big deal wll he started wheezing broke out in hives and was vomitting we don't have a history of allergies either but he is allergic to everything. So I don't know I'm sure the majority of kids would be fine mine just happened to be allergic hopefully mason won't be.

I can't even begin to catch up on all the post I have been busy lately. I will check back in later

Robin - I've never seen you like this! Yeah that would make me mad too!!! Lela is a true beauty ALSO!!! I love seeing and watching her!!!

Amber - Stupid hospitals, like they can't afford to wait. They CANNOT do you anything as long as you are sending them something. Even if it is a dollar! My sister had to do this with dental bills. I started at 4 monthes giving 1st foods veggies. She HATED the cereal and wouldn't take it mixed in either. Finally when the purees were too runny for her I started adding the cereal...I never prepare it, I mix it in dry with the veggie or fruit. I make my own food now and all I did was everything on the first foods list I'd make that ... well now we are on to 2nd foods. She actually does the chewing motion so a little texture is great for her. She's only getting about 16 oz of formula a day now. My pedi said it was fine. Her schedule is pretty much like this:

5-6 AM - 3-4 oz formula
7-8 AM - Fruit & Cereal @ daycare
Nap
10-11 - 5 oz formula
11-12 - Veggie w/ Cereal @ daycare
Nap
3 PM - 5 oz formula
6 PM - Veggie & Fruit w/ cereal sometimes she'll take a little formula (maybe 2oz)
Nap
8-9 - 3oz of formula

Judith/Lauren - I ended up buying some Pedicare for cold and cough. It says "last up to 8 hours" So I figured it's as strong as motrin...but I only gave her the dose I was giving of Tylenol, which is from when she was like 4 mo. old. At her 6 mo the pedi said 1.275 to 1.75 ml of motrin. I had only been giving her 0.8 ml of tylenol. So thats what I gave her of the pedicare. She didn't cough all night and she slept really well, from 9-5 this morning. I didn't get her out of bed till 5:30. I am going to have to get her some blueberries, sounds like they are a hit...a great treat for a WW Mommy too!

Lou - she seems to be getting better. Her nose even sounded clearer this morning.

Rhylee didn't really poop yesterday but had a little smidge in her diaper around 4:30PM She was in a much better mood until right at bedtime.

Jess - I don't wait the 5 days or whatever either. No one in my family has allergy's either, I'm like you, I wait like 2ish days.

Thanks everyone I thought she was incrediably rude!!!!!!!

I wish our county had healthcare system like Canada where everyone is covered. I had to get my own insurance because DH's employer didn't cover spouses and now he will get great benefits at his new job but not until 6 months so that is the girls will have no insurance for 6 months so I have to call the CHIP program and she if they quailfy for that I hope so!!!!

Judith - UGHHH your mom is CRAZY!!!!! Mason is one of the cutest babies I have seen I can't help but smile when I see him and so what if he doesn't have blue eyes big deal.

Tammy - How is Alyssa doing with milk now any better?

Cassie - How is Rhylee feeling?

So does everyone have plans for the 4th? We are going to my parents house they are having a picinic.

I will catch up in a bit

Robin - NO she is not doing any better, today Im going to buy her more formula. I think Im only going to give her sips of milk with her food and that is it. She took another hard pellet poop yesterday and screamed her face off. I think this is enough & dh keeps getting upset at me

Robin - YAY to good insurance huh! I've been lucky so far! We did have one instance where dh's insurance didn't pick up what mine didn't pay on something for Rhylee. They are so stupid with that crap are you supposed to call them once the baby spits out? INS!!! BLAH! Rhylee seems to be doing much better. Her nose sounds clearer this morning and she didn't cough all night. YAY!

Tammy - Awww, poor Alyssa. Yes get her more formula, shes still a baby even though she's 1, they wouldn't make it for older babies if some of them didn't need it!!! Hopefully she isn't holding it in like Mason was.

Robin- No coverage for 6 months Even for your children Thats' nuts!!

Tammy- This is the new movie. http://www.sicko-themovie.com/

Cassie- Glad Rhylee seems like she is feeling better. I meant to tell you the triametic disolvable strips were infant ones it says on the box.

Lisa- 7 months, that's nuts!! When Mason was 8 months old he was sitting up in the shopping cart and someone asked me if he was 3 months old...and he was quite the chunker by then. People are just weird.

Tomorrow is our 9th wedding anniversary...and 14 years living together total Gosh it has gone by so fast.
