Thanks for the advice girls. He finally went this afternoon. It was thick like toothpaste. Then, once that was out, whoa.. big explosion. I guess it must be the formula. But, he's had some for a while and this is the first time this has happened. Hmm...

Lauren- I hope things work out with the new job. That's great you would only have to work while Abby sleeps. Would you have to work every day or only part time? I love the new ponytail!

Lisa- Yay for your sis coming!

Ath- LMAO about Nate and the grass. City kid... lol.

Robin- I keep forgetting to say YAY on DH's new job. Congrats! So sweet about Madison worrying.

tammy - thanks for the comments on abby and the shift is 9pm to 5:30am so that's what i would have to work, unless i can get off at 5am instead since dh leaves at 5:30am. we shall see. i'll apply and if i don't get a call i don't get a call. we shall see.

pandc - it would only be parttime. 2 or 3 nights a week. i think 4 hours of sleep every night would get to me after awhile since i'm so use to 9-10hrs a night...LOL.

cassie - definitely keep an eye on rhylee...as i know you are

Amy - it was probably me. I have to get her into some sort of routine before I go back to work in 7 weeks or it will be hard on all of us. She has gotten into a good nighttime routine though - sleeping from around 10-4, then waking up at 7/8, then sleeping again 'til around 10am. Some people would probably think that's too late for a baby to stay up, but DH and I want to have some time to play with her when we get home from work and he doesn't usually get home 'til 6 or 7. She is going to MIL's, not daycare when I go to work so she can sleep as long as she wants until it's time for her to start school. When I take her for her 2 month next week, I'm going to ask tons of questions, but one is can she go 8 hours at night w/out eating? I will have to get up a 5ish when I go back to work and wake her up at 6:30 to feed. I don't think I'll get good rest if I have to wake up a feed her an hour before my alarm goes off. I did let her cry herself to sleep for a nap today, but then she only slept like 20-30 min b/c she was hungry by then.

Lauren - If you want that job, def. apply for it. Would it be full-time? I don't know how you would get enough rest, though. Can your mom/MIL watch Abby any so you can get sleep? I don't how much money you need to make but have you thought a/b something like selling Avon? I sold it for a few months before my wedding to help pay for my dress and other wedding stuff. I made like $300-$500/month for aobut 5-6 months. Then I quit b/c of the wedding and then I was finishing my master's and had no time. I'm thinking a/b starting again. It's very easy if you find a good group to sell to. I spent Tuesdays working on it for 2-3 hours. One Tuesday I had to make my order and the next Tuesday I got my order in and had to sort through it. Since I'm a teacher, I sold it only at school. I brought some books to Bible study once, but didn't really get any interest. Anyway, if there are a couple of schools near you, you could sell to them (Bring Abby when you drop of the books and they will lover her and want to more).

I just went to Wal-Mart. I think I am done shopping there. Nothing I bought there was any cheaper than Kroger except maybe laundry detergent and there are so many people and such long lines. I am starting to agree with Lisa that that is where people who don't get into heaven end up.

kelly - did you start making that kind of money right away? i have a friend that sells it and she says she makes barely anything. i know she spends a lot of what she makes on AVON. i had thought to sell it and dh told me there's no money in it...hmmm...

Ok gals, this is JMHO, so don't get insulted, long post cause I tried to back up my opinion with some facts for you to ponder. I think you gals are getting a little too overzealous on the removing sugars from the baby's food thing..... some naturally occuring sugar is normal and good in a baby's (or adults) diet. Just don't make yourself crazy trying to get every gram of sugar out of their diet!

Yogurt, even plain HOMEMADE yogurt with no added sugar or flavorings, will have sugars in it, specifically Lactose....which by the way is also in breastmilk or ANY milk....5-9% sugar content in breastmilk (have you ever tasted your milk - it is quite sweet). I agree, added sugar is not necessary or beneficial to anyone, but you have to read those labels remembering, that Sugars line includes the natural fructose and lactose that are in the milk and or fruit to make the product even veggies like carrots and sweet potatos would have a number in the sugars line if they came with a nutrition label on them.

You have to look at the ingredients part to see if they added sweetener esp. HFCS - I am not a fan of High Fructose Corn Syrup, which is sometimes the first or second ingredient on a label - which are listed by amount, highest first .

Eg.:
Amounts of Various Sugars in Everyday Foods

DESCRIPTION GRAMS
Apple, medium 14g
Bread, whole grain, 1 slice 2g
Carbonated beverage, cola-type, 12 fl oz can 33g
Carrots, 1 cup cooked 5g
Catsup, 1 tbsp 3g
Chocolate candy bar, 1.55 oz 25g
Grapes, 1 cup 25g
Milk, 1%, 1 cup 13g
Oatmeal cookie, 1 6g
Orange juice, fresh, 1 cup 21g
Sweet corn, 1 cup cooked 5g

Here are a couple articles on sugars:
http://www.ific.org/foodinsight/2006/nd/sugarsfi606.cfm

"5. Babies need sugars in moderation.

Sugar, which exists in several forms, is a source of calories and makes some foods taste better. Breast milk, the ideal food for infants, contains 5% to 9% lactose, which is similar to table sugar but much less sweet. Other foods in a balanced diet may contain moderate amounts of sugar, but excessive amounts can crowd out more nutritious foods. Sugar has not been shown to cause hyperactivity, diabetes, obesity, or chronic diseases later in life. Sugar is linked to tooth decay, but good dental hygiene, proper bottle-feeding practices, and adequate fluoride intake will reduce the likelihood. Bottles of milk or juice, or a pacifier dipped in honey, should not be used to put a baby to sleep, because prolonged contact with their natural sugars can cause tooth decay. Artificially sweetened foods should be avoided because they lack the calories that growing babies need." from : http://www.quackwatch.org/03HealthPromotion/dgi.html

Here is the link to the YoBaby site on Stoneyfield Farms site ( not defending them, just FYI) - http://www.stonyfield.com/OurProducts/YoBaby.cfm

It says this halfway down the page (I know this is probably "spun" to their advantage-but I bet they changed it for a reason - parent complaints" Now a little less sweet—We’ve recently reduced the amount of sugar in all YoBaby yogurts. You may notice a slight difference in taste from our original recipe, but since little ones’ palates are so different than adults’, they won’t miss the sugar one bit. YoBaby yogurts now have only 12g or 13g sugars depending on flavor (including natural milk sugar), which is about the same amount as a jar of baby food fruit! "

Here is an article about the sugary content of most yogurts, http://peertrainer.com/CS/blogs/pats...07/12/521.aspx and it lists YoBaby as 16 g sugar, so that is probably the previous higher amount.....at the end she lists some good alternatives of natural plain yogurts, one is made with while milk which is what you want for a baby....."Let me finish with a few words about plain yogurt. This is the yogurt Dr. Nestle says she eats. She is right when she says it is hard to find amidst the myriad of sugared, flavored, preserved, and hyped yogurts. In my local Safeway, the plain yogurts were placed in a completely different part of the dairy section—separated from the sweet stuff by containers of cottage cheese and sour cream. I bought several different kinds. Pavel’s Original Russian yogurt only contains whole milk, living yogurt cultures (good bacteria such as Lactobacillus bulgaricus), and one additive, vitamin D3. Eight ounces (1 cup) has 140 calories and 10 grams of sugars – those that naturally occur in milk, not added as in the case of the sweetened yogurts. Nancy’s nonfat yogurt’s only ingredients are skim milk and nonfat dry milk plus the yogurt bacteria. It has 120 calories per cup, 17 grams of milk sugars, and no fat. Voskos’ Greek Style Yogurt is made from milk and cream as well as nonfat milk. One cup has 260 calories with 180 from fat, but only 8 grams of sugar. It is fat and fattening, but it probably tastes terrific."

Anyway - I just didn't want you all to get yourselves all worked up about sugar being in EVERYTHING....cause it is.....quantity ( remember to compare the serving size listed as well - Pavel's Russin yourt 10 g sugar to 1c serving - YoBaby 12-13g sugar for 4 oz. serving )and type (added vs. naturally occuring) are very important to consider. Having done the Atkins diet in the past- I know how it is to look at labels and see that Carb/Sugars line - and think " I can't eat ANYTHING without sugar being there! "....true mostly - but not ALL sugar is evil

Thanks for that info Jess. DD loves her yogurt and I am glad to have the info for when I go compare labels. I am also glad that Judith posted the info about there being so much sugar in the yogurt because I didn't even think to check labels until she posted that. So I guess what I am saying is that I am glad to be informed by both sides of the situation, all of the info helps me to be more aware of what I am putting in my daughter's body!

Jess- Thanks for the info. I planned on doing the the plain yogurt vs. the yo baby only because it is 1/2 the sugar. Like you said there is a difference between natural sugars and refined sugars.

Kelly- WOW, Hannah is sleeping great. Yes, you can let her go 8 hours if she will. If babies are hungry they will wake up. Also, we put Mason to bed 9:30pm-10pm and it works for us. We do it that way so DH can see him after work too.

Amy- That is so funny about the grass & sand.

Jess, I agree with you completely. I look for naturally occuring sugars vs. processed added stuff. If you look at milk it has 12g sugar...lactose. I do plain yogurt and add fruit to it. Sometimes we do a flavored one like Brown cow vanilla. Thanks for the info.

Yay for the 4th falling on my day off..cause that means I get tomorrow off too!!

Lisa~ Did you start your meds for PPD? Are you feeling any better?

I'm trying to figure out a good schedule with the cereal for Caleb and would love some input from you girls.
Caleb LOVEs his cereal & does really well eating it, but have only been doing it at night(if he's in a good mood & not too tired, usually 4-5 nights per week). Should I try to start introducing it more throughout the day? Like in the mornings & at lunch time? Or is that too much now? Or should I just keeping doing what i'm doing.....

Cassie~ When did you start Rhylee on solids? (like green peas, peas etc?)

amber - i don't know if i did it right or not...but i started with cereal for the morning feeding and then a bottle shortly after. then once other things were introduced i do cereal in the morning, veggies and fruit for lunch...and now that she's eating pretty everything i do mix cereal in with fruit or butternut squash to thicken them up a bit at meals other than breakfast...or if she's had something other than cereal for breakfast i will put it in her fruit at lunch...ok, i think i rambled, but hopefully you get the point

Of the ladies that breastfed did you give your baby the extra vitamins? Jack hates it and I didn't do it with the other two and they turned out just fine so I am wondering how needed it really is.

Jess, thanks for that information. As you stated everthing has sugar in it and the extra things that come in Yobaby offset the sugar to me.

Kristy- I didn't. The lactation constultant told me that a few minutes a week in the sun are equal to them. So I just put Mason in the window for a few minutes.

Lauren~ I got it, LOL. Thanks

I am so ticked at the hospital I delivered at. In the past 4 months I have paid them a total of $1300 for my delivery & hospital stay($1000 of it being a lump sum payment in cash). Now they are harassing me over the remaining $140 dollars I have left to pay!! We are tight on money right now, so I called last month to set up a payment plan for the rest($30month) and they said it has to be paid in full by July or it would go to collections! Plus it didn't help that the man was a total a##hole about it and was totally trying to intimidate me by saying i'll be going into collections. Excuse me, but I know so many people who pay their medical/hospital bills out over a couple of years & they got almost everything I owe them within 4months. Well they can just send me to collections and they'll get continue to get their $30 a month from me.
Sorry, I feel better now.
