Default July Baby chat

Crystal---Luke is such a doll!! What a great smile!

Met with the pastor last night; the baptism will be sort of unique because I am joining the church at the same time, and they usually do a little thing in the service for that, so they will combine them--first the church will accept me as a member, and then we will baptise him. I was baptised in the same religion, so it isnt a big deal to join, but I havent gone to church in a VERY long time. I was very honest and explained to the pastor that the main reason I am joining is because I want Ely to be raised in the church. He seemed to think that is an ok reason.
We leave tomorrow night for the fourth---YAY! My MIL will be meeting Ely for the FIRST time on Friday!

He is such a good baby, he is starting to giggle its the cutest!! And we have the breastfeeding thing down now to hurray!! October is when I have to go back to work and Im DREADING that I really dont want to put him in daycare but at this point I cannot afford to stay home, also all of the daycares are full. I live in a very very small town... eh, maybe I will the lottery and beable to stay home

Irene- hiya! we were only able to use the nb size for about 2weeks. There is a big difference in brands, tho as far as fit goes. Then we bought a huge box of size 1-2 (I guess it's bigger than a normal 1) at sam's and he grew out of them about 1/2 way through the box!

Holy cow, JULY? Whoa.

So, lately DH and I have been snapping at each other a lot. I know it is a combination of sleep deprivation and Donovan getting increasingly more fussy/demanding so we are both a little ragged and frustrated. But I just hate it! To top it off, DH tried to actually initiate DTD the other night (something he hasn't done since BEFORE TTC) and I had no desire to! OMG, what's wrong with me? Plus I was terrified that it would hurt or that DH would be freaked out that things had changed down there (i'm worried it might rival the grand canyon). {sigh} I'm sure it gets better eventually, right?

Claire, I think you should just go ahead and DTD. I know it is pretty scary to get back into that, but I have found that it isnt as bad as you think it may be, and then you might not snap at him as much and vice versa

Jo--Dominic is SOOO cute--he has the bluest eyes I have ever seen! Your church looks beautiful; did you do a private baptism before the mass, or did you do it during the mass? We are just doing ours during the traditional service on sunday morning. They have a later service that would be better timing as far as naps go, but it is "non traditional", and I don't think my family will really dig that.

Claire--It gets better, but it is definitely difficult having a new baby. We have definitely had to learn to have a little more patience with eachother than in the past, and struggled with some of those same stress induced arguments. DTD helped us get out of a funk; as long as you use lube you will be fine. I actually think that it is BETTER than before, but it took 4 or 5 times before I was able to completely enjoy it because I was so paranoid. I say have a couple glasses of wine, invest in some KY, and see what happens!

Claire, It will be hard the first time (or first couple of times) but I agree with Krissy, it has been better than before kids every time.

Claire- I am with you on not having the drive..but I chalk it up my DH just thinks that we should just "do it"..When it would be nice for some romance or something before doing the deed.
Jo-he is adorable. I am with Krissy he has the biggest brightest beautiful eyes.
Irene- Isabella is in a size one in Huggies they are a little big like they go way past her bellybutton. But the newborns seem to leak. I weight Isabella the other day and my scales at home said she weighted almost 9lbs.

Oh! I remember trying for the first time!! Yikes talk about strange! And a bit painful! Your world is already upside down with this new baby not to mention things are not in their "place" yet! A nurse in the hospital told me we just need to "do it" like you said back. The pain does go away. I had 3rd degree tearing so if anyone has strange things going on down there it would be me...but it was fine! Good Luck!!

Dana - I was in the same boat with 3rd degree. That first time was uncomfortable, but it got better.

Claire - Get some really good lubricant & go for it!

Jo - He is so cute. I can't believe how big he is!

Krissy - I bet your MIL is so excited to meet him!

I have had a big week! My ER was on Monday & my transfer is tomorrow! Yesterday we had 13 little embies growing, so I am hoping we end up with 2 great ones for tomrorow & 2 to freeze. Wish us luck!
AND, Jackson started crawling today!!!! I am so excited! I am so glad that I was home to see it, and my parents are here too, so they got to see him as well. He's had a big week - he can now get himself to a sitting position from laying down, and open drawers in the tv cabinet. I guess we really need to baby proof.
Also, I got him one of those door frame bouncy seats & he LOVES it. He can bounce forever in it. It's so cute! I love him soooo much more every day.

jen--yay jackson! I am with you--We really need to baby proof. Ely has been mobile for awhile and we still havent gotten around to it--I just chase him everywhere! Is Jackson going forward? Ely crawls very well, but almost always goes backwards? He can go forward and has a few times, but he pretty much moves backwards most of the time. We LOVE our door bouncy thing; I don't know how I would ever get anything done without it! We got ours about 3 months ago, so we had to put towels under it so that he could reach, and put it in the bathroom upstairs--he bounces everyday while I shower and get ready. We actually have a free standing bouncer downstairs (our house is an old victorian and the door bouncer only fits in two doorways; the upstairs bathroom, and the laundry room). I remember when we first got it I kept feeling like I was neglecting him because he would spend so long bouncing. Now when he stands up he tries to bounce, though, and that is just dangerous!

Ely has developed his fathers sense of humor He laughs HYSTERICALLY whenever someone gets hurt or pretends to get hurt. For example; when he swings in his new swingset that Chris built, if you pretend like the swing hit you and go flying backwards, he thinks it is hilarious. Last night Chris really did trip over something and fell; Ely laughed so hard he threw up! Should I worry about encouraging this? It is so cute because he is just beside himself with laughter, but I want him to be an empathetic person and not laugh when people get hurt?!?

Here he is laughing in his new swingset

Oh, Krissy, he is so cute with that little crinkly nose! I don't know what to tell you about him laughing, but I've seen MANY kids that laugh hysterically at pretend injuries, so I think it is just a phase. Once he is older and understands what it feels like to be hurt I'm sure he'll respond differently.

Claire- I, too, am on the "it hurt the first time" team. Actually it was uncomfortable the first few times, but like the others, it is much better now. I am just now getting my libido back and it's been almost 10 months, so I think that varies from person to person.

I'm not sure if ya'll are helping me or scaring the crap out of me! LOL

Krissy- OMG, he's cute. I think the laughing at someone getting hurt thing is something little boys are just pre-wired to do. I don't think it really means anything about thier capacity for empathy. I wish I remembered way back to my psych classes but I want to say that a full grasp of what it means for someone else to get hurt is a bit too advanced at this stage-cognitively speaking.

Hello ladies...

I havent been here for a couple of days and I missed out on so much!

Irene - I would hold on to the diapers. I thought with as much weight as I put on, my LO would be like 8 lbs but she was only 6 lbs. Up until a couple of days ago, we were folding down her newborn diapers. We got a TON of diapers at our baby shower since we had a diaper raffle and we are running low on our newborn sizes but the size ones say they start at 8 lbs and when we went to the dr last week, she was 7 lbs 6 1/2 oz so we may be safe...with all of that being said, wait until your LO gets here before u take diapers back.

Jo - San Diego is 2 hours from here...Temecula and Dana Point, I am not sure the distance and I live here in Cali...lol...but I dont think they are more than a couple of hours away...when are you leaving again? I hope you havent left yet.

Crystal - Breastfeeding is a LOT better. I still have a little latch on pain but it is nothing like it was before. I know I still may be doing something wrong but my nipples are no longer sore like they used to be so I must have changed SOMETHING!!!

GOSH...I cannot believe it is July already!!!

Has anyone else had this issue with their LO? If so, how did you deal with it?

K - Yes, Hannah had baby acne bad right after she turned 1 month old. I guess it lasted a/b 2 weeks. We used Cetaphil as a cleaner for her then. She developed eczema later on. We used Gentle Naturals Baby Eczema Wash and Cream. That may help w/ the acne. It has Winnie the Pooh on it and you can find it at CVS/Walgreen's on the baby aisle.
