Default BD after giving birth

I had my postpartum appointment today and got the green light to resume intercourse but I'm still tender (and scared of any possible pain) and have zero interest in that right now. How long after giving birth did you resume relations with DH and if it hurt, how long did it take to feel normal again?

TIA!

I had a 2nd degree tear. My OB gave green light at 8 weeks pp but said 12 would be more like it. We DTD at 9 weeks pp and it has been better than ever since giving birth! GL and have fun when you're ready!

Snowie-it was painful/uncomfortable for me for a few months, not because I hadn't healed but because BF can really dry you up. They prescribed an estrogen cream which really helped. Since then, like Kayla said, it has been better than ever!

I'm eavesdropping here as I had a 2nd degree tear also but was not told anything about BD-ing. I just assumed 6 weeks, but apparently it could be longer. Too bad for DH, he was just moaning about this last night. Obviously he is happy to have my figure back.

I am in my pre-pg jeans today and they actually fit!! YEAH!! Good day today!!!!!

Jo--I was also eavesdropping; you already fit back into your jeans!!! You give me so much hope! The new pic of Dominic is absolutely ADORABLE!!!

Snowie--Good luck with bd'ing---maybe it is like falling off of a horse, and you just need to get back on in order to not make it too wierd?

Snowie, don't feel bad. I made dh wait 9-10 wks. I was soo not interested. BF'ing dried me up too and so I used lube to help with that. So don't worry, you're not alone. It takes time and it'll be worth it!

Snowie-It took us a good LONG time to get back in the game both times. . .with the first I was still incredibly sore and with this one I am so tired and she has so many other issues that it is hard to find time!

Thank you for your responses girls! I don't feel so "unusual" anymore! I think I'll feel better in a few more weeks. DH tried to talk me into it last night and even if I felt up to it, there would have been no way with Maddie there! How do u mommas manage with baby there?

Snowie - I had severe tearing with surgical repair (not sure on the degree) and was released at my 6wk appt. We waited until 8wks. It did hurt. Just take it slow and use lots of KY! As far as the baby being there...for the first few times we went in the other room. Now we just do it and hope she doesn't wake up! They are babies...they won't be scarred.

Jo - Awesome you are in you pre jeans!!

Krissy - Don't feel bad if it doesn't work that way to hop right back into your old clothes. Some of my jean still don't fit just right.

Snowie- I had two c-sections so my situation is a bit different but we waited until 7 weeks. I bf both babies for around a year so I had issues with lubrication. There just isn't ANY so we used KY and that really helped as well as foreplay. That is a must.

Now by baby being there what do you mean? Do you co-sleep or is she sleeping in your room??

Me and DH were so ready to BD again we both were dying to get at it. I had the go at my 6 wk check. I was back in heaven, didnt have any problems beside when it really came down to BDing i got really scarred of doing it. So we took it slow and after it was in it was A O K.

Jo- I'm so jealous because I'm barely fitting into my pre-pg jeans with this fat belly hanging over them.

Our birthing class told us that the reason you have to wait for the OK is because every woman heals at a different rate, and if you bd before you are all healed, you can get a terrible uterine infection or something scary. Im no expert, but I would wait until the appt. The nurse that taught our class really freaked me out when she was talking about it!

Well, I had my drs appt Friday and got the green light to resume all activities. So, DH and I actually DTD this morning. I'm not going to lie, it hurt, I think where my stitches were. The doctor said that I had some scar tissue there. I didn't bleed, although I just went to the bathroom and am bleeding now. I have a minipad on and will check it to make sure it's not too bad.
This kind of freaks me out. I hope it's not AF already. It's probably just from the BD but I'm paranoid now. I got back on FF this morning and put my BD on it to begin tracking and a note about the bleeding. I guess I'll start temping again now. **sigh**

Jo, are you going to start trying right away? I doubt it is AF since you are exclusively breastfeeding. It is probably bleeding from DTD.

Kristy- oh, heck no! I want to enjoy this one exclusively for a while. We will probably wait a year and then start trying. Don't you leave this week? G/L!!
