Gosh, I know guys, I realized it’s the 13th today! One month to go! Let’s see…updates…mmm…My matron-of-honor found a dress (for $29!). It’s a black, sleeveless, knee-length shell. That’s what I told her to get – something she would reuse, a short, sleeveless, cocktail-type dress. Now I gotta get my sister (the maid-of-honor) to get one, and figure out what the kids are going to wear.

We’ll have my sister, my best friend, and my oldest stepdaughter standing up with me, and my stepson, and the two younger stepdaughters standing up with DH. My sister and friend will be in closely matching dresses, and have hand tied bouquets with three or four blooms, with the kids in nice black dresses, but not matching, with a corsage. I don’t know that I want Eric (my stepson) in a suit. DH will be in some sort of suit or tux (the next big project – figure out what he’s going to wear, and my dad).

My matron-of-honor and I are kicking around the idea of silk flower (nice ones!) boutonnières and corsages. Then just picking up a bunch of fresh cut blooms from a floral supplier, and doing hand tied bouquets for the three of us. It was her idea, but the jury is still out for me. I think I’d rather have fresh ones, but then it’s one more thing to do last-minute. I dunno…we’ll need my bouquet, my sister’s and Gail’s, five corsages (the three girls, my mom’s and DH’s sister), and four boutonnieres (DH, Eric, my dad, and my brother).

My brother is going to play the music on his acoustic guitar. I don’t want to “choose” recognizable music, I just want him to play something pretty. He’s a semi-professional musician, so he’s trustworthy.

I did velvet red roses and they looked very real. Look at them below in myspace pics. I ordered 1 medium round red rose bouquet for me, one small toss bouquet for MOH, and two bouts for about $75. I loved them! I think it's a good choice for convenience and cost.

There are pretty. They'd go with the outdoor thing...

I like those! I think only the red ones are velvet and that helps with the real look. If you are using another color see if you can find it in velvet. I could also shape each velvet petal to fluff it up.

Good luck! I can look online for some in lavender or mixed like the ones you showed. I have some extra time on my hands at work.

Ssshhhh...don't tell!

I printed those wildflower pictures -- I'm going to take them to a florist on Monday and see what she says. My bank teller knows a florist who makes bouts for $5!

We had all of our flowers done at Albertons.
$300 for 5 bouquets, 3 corsages, 2 tussy mussys, and about 12 bouteneirres. We just had to pick them up. Everyone talked about how gorgeous they were. My mom's had a ton of brides ask her where we got my flowers so they can copy them.

Well, there's been a bit of excitement this week with the invitations: they were supposed to ship (UPS ground) Monday, and I called on Thursday, and was assured they were going out that day (I told them I wanted my shipping upgraded no charge). Then on Friday I checked the shipping info on the website again and none was posted, and I called again. They said they were having to rerun the envelopes with printed return addresses because they had printed them in the wrong color (my invitations are a dusky purple ink). I asked what color, they said 'black', I said 'I want them anyway'. If it was red...you know, but black, I can live with. Then, they called back AGAIN and said 'weeell they've already been destroyed'. SO, the moral of the story is, they have SWORN and promised me that they were going to be overnighted on Monday for Tuesday, and that they are going to refund me the cost of the envelopes.

It's bringing the RSVP date really close, but it will be ok, since it is an informal telephone RSVP anyway. We'll get them Tuesday, address them Tuesday evening, mail them Wednesday, and they should arrive Thursday the 20th or Friday th 21st, which gives people 10-11 days to call and RSVP. Not terrible, I guess, but it's a week later than I planned.

But, Hell, if this is the big 'hiccough' for the whole thing, I'm in pretty good shape. I really need to go find a minister now...LOL!

Stephanie - It'll be okay!!! I promise.

Just a suggestion, though.... make labels for your invitations. You can choose your own pretty font/color and have the addresses saved for when you write 'thank yous'. That's what I did and it was a life saver. I used the clear labels, too.....

Ooooooh...good idea. 'Miss Manners' would not approve, but I put an RSVP phone number on my invitation...I'm already off the 'perfect bride' list. LMAO!

It can still be elegant while saving you time and energy! The whole 'wedding etiquite' stuff is old school and over rated anyway. Do what YOU want... it's YOUR day!

That's the whole attitude I took on when I decided a few months ago that I didn't want a traditional reception, that I'd rather have a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant instead. With cake. And presents.

Steph - I'm so sorry the invitations caused a problem and I recommended them to you. Neither I nor my best friend had any problems. I'm so sorry.

LOL! Oh Kel - it's ok. I would have made them myself from stuf you can buy at office depot or something. This will be fine. Every wedding has to have ONE glitch, right? THanks for the recomendation....I wouldn't have gotten wedding favors if not for ordering on a website. I'm still happy.
