Default FIFA WORLD CUP

Anyone else going to be a world cup widow?

I told him during my 2ww...he better take advantage & watch all the soccer he can. I can only hope that he's bored with it by the time the big O comes around again

I love football and will be watching all the matches. It's a really big thing here in England and even most woman will watch it even if they don't follow it any other time.
Englands first match is tomorrow so we'll be setting up the tv in the garden, lighting the bbq and having the neighbours round.

We'd love to beat Germany in the final cos there a serious rivalry between us and the Germans so you are always guaranteed a brilliant match and atmosphere.

I'm sorry about all the footie "talk".I know you don't want to see it on here as well being a football widow.

Enjoy the time by getting yourself pampered and going shopping.Or arrange a girlie night.

At least it only happens every 4 years.

Oh Betsy, I know your pain!
My DH is taping (tivo) everything... so not only is he watching the coverage when it's on, but also everything he might have missed!
I really enjoy soccer, and would MUCH prefer to watch that over basketball or football or pretty much any other "guy" sport. But I can't believe that this thing lasts for THREE WHOLE WEEKS!

What is it now, day 3? Oh boy...

Sarah,

It's not 3 weeks. It's 4 weeks!!! Started June 9th and goes through July 9th. Actually this weekend wasn't bad. We did wake up early to watch the Mexico vs. Iran game Sunday Morning. I thought he was going to watch games the rest of the day but he didn't. We had his brother and some friends over. And we spent the day at the pool, making food and watching a movie. So I just have 4 more weekends to survive!!!

I was in Paris in 98 when they hosted and won the World Cup. Talk about CRAZY!! We made sure we were back in our hotel by halftime and did not leave again.

It also didn't help that Bastille Day was only 3 days after the World Cup Finals. That whole place was insane while I was there!

I think I'll watch the finals when they come around, but as for the rest of it, I'm probably going to pass.

Enjoy the games, y'all!!

Mere I was in Paris during the 98 world cup too! I was actually spending the semester there so was in the city/country for the entire world cup. I remember going to bars and all the sudden you'd hear a huge blast - garbage cans/cars/random thigns being blown up by the hooligans.

It was scary but fun. I don't think there's anything in the US that would ever bring people together like that.

Emily - I remember the garbage cans! They also were setting off fireworks in the subway! I kept waiting for someone to come stop them, but no, they kept going off!

That was the summer I interned for an airline. There were 16 interns all assgined to go to every airport in the US and Europe that they flew to doing Y2K testing and updating. Paris was one of my assigned cities, oh poor me.

My boss was really nice. We only had about 2 days of work, but he scheduled us in Paris for a week. He did that to all the interns in their Europe desitnations. Gotta love it!
