I HATE video games. Ugh I am trying really hard not to let Carter get hooked but he really enjoys it. So we limit his time on them. Now the Wii Fit is a good concept I must say. Combine video games with activity. I need to clarify..I have seen way too many kids that sit and do nothing but games and those are the specific things about it I hate not the actual game or the fact that they can be fun. So that is what I mean. My nephew for example stopped playing all sports and all he does is stay in his room and play games...He doesn't have many social skills as a result. NO it is not the games fault but I think they should have limited him early on. Does that make sense?? Carter has the same tendencies...We have to MAKE him play and do physical activity. We played outside as kids and as a whole were less overweight than kids today because they do not do physical activity. Okay sorry for the rant.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and got TONS of fruits and veggies. We had a great dinner with lots of greens and started off this morning with poached egg sandwiches. I am drinking tons of water and I am DETERMINED to get a workout in today when dh gets home. I have exactly four weeks before we go to the beach....Gotta do better than I have been. Oh and the V-8 Fusion light has a Peach Mango flavor....TO DIE FOR! I was craving dessert really bad lastnight and I drank a bit of that instead. Satisfied me and it was only 35 calories! If you haven't tried it I say go buy it today! YUMMMM!

Discovered that Riley LOVES fresh blueberries. She has always loved the dried ones but I figured the fresh ones would be too tart...NO WAY. She ate them like they were going out of style.

Karen- I totally agree. As children all we did was play outside. I think it is like anything else "in moderation" I think TV can be just as bad.. and computer time.

Christie yes...Carter would watch tv 24/7 if we let him and honestly during the day while out for the Summer you can't FORCE him to play outside..he will go out there and come back in ten minutes later...UGh. Even at the ballfield while watching dh play a game he wants to take his Nintendo DS while all the other kids who are his friends are running and playing. I won't allow him to. I say NOPE there are kids to play with so go play. I found him hiding playing his friends the other night at the ball field. His friend was playing with the other kids while Carter sat and played his DS. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I have got to figure something out or he will drive me nuts all Summer. Can't wait til vacation. He at least loves the beach!

I love ANY berries. I was just talking to my dad about this -- the fruit crops available in the grocery stores have been damn pitiful this year. Bing cherries are like, my favorite thing, and they wanted $4.99 on sale from $6.99 for a little bag the other day! I was appauled! But Dad told me that he discovered a little local farmers market that they are holding on Sundays from May through September this year at a big nursery (the tree kind) near our houses. Too cool. I may have to go check it out this weekend; it's only Sundays from 1-4pm. YAY.

Know what else people often don't give babies/toddlers b/c they think they won't like them....PLUMS! I was eating a plum years ago when my friend's little girl was about...9 months old, I gave her a taste and she took it out of my hands and starting gnawing away. I had expected her to make a face!

I'm being bad. I'm not happy, and I'm rebelling. So I'm not expecting a loss this week. But that's okay. I'm not being REALLY bad, but not eating like I normally do. Two candy bars, two sodas this week. I actually had a piece of bread for dinner the other night. Whole wheat bread. It was the night Daniel and I were at each other's throats again. Meds issues. Blah. Anyway, I digress. I had two hours sleep in a 38 hours period because of it all, and so I went to bed at 10pm last night (I get up at 8am). I'm still groggy, but it takes up to 4 nights to recover from one inadequate night's sleep; you can't just take an extra nap to cover the time missed. I'm cranky. I don't like him very much. I'm being a little self-destructive. I'm giving myself permission (not beating yourself up is actually really liberating!). So...I suck. But I can't fall into the abyss. If a couple candy bars are going to help me out, and I don't feel badly about it, then so be it, right? *shrug*

Steph let's get this straight YOU don't suck HE does!!!! I am so sorry you are having issues with him. Pm me if you need a shoulder. ((((big Squeezy hugs)))))

Anyone know how many cals in a piece of american cheese??

I started keeping food journal as of today. I am SERIOUS about getting off this ten pounds before the beach. Can I do that in four weeks???? I don't know if it is possible?? The last ten are the hardest. I weigh what I did before Riley but I want to weigh what I did before Carter....

Edit I found it the cheese has 60 calories. What a waste.

Hey for those of you that want a food journal I found this today and started using it!
Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate

I think it may be helpful! That way you can add in foods and it calculates and all taht jazz. I am excited to watch my progress.

How many calories a day should I be eating?? 1200??? 1500?? I don't even know because eating healthy hasn't been my thing... I am going to really give this a go and see what happens. Not empty calories either but BETTER calories.

I mean I suck cause I'm mis-eating. Not that I suck in general. But thank you.

And Karen if you poke around online, I'm sure you can find some charts with height to weight to body structure (there's three basics I believe), caloric intake to maintain VS caloric intake to loose, and all that stuff. I bet there are charts around.

I also think I have another site like that calorie counter one, and you can search it for the nutritional info on ANYTHING. It might just be calorie counter .com, but let me check.

Tammy~ So you got the job??!!?? Oh, I need to go find your post.

Robin~ AWESOME job on the weightloss!!!! I'm so proud of you!!

Karen~ It is possible to lose 10 pounds in a month - just hard. The only way I could ever do that was when I was drinking slim fast. I would have a shake for breakfast and lunch and a light dinner. Fruit in between. But looking back I was probably only consuming about 1000 calories a day - AND i was working out 5 days a week. It's hard - but possible! Sounds like you're off to a good start!

Ok, I've gotten in 4 workouts this week. 2 treadmill, 1 turbo jam, and 1 hike with dogs/baby/dh. Unfortunately I have been eating like a PIG. Ugh! I feel like I can only do one good thing - I either eat right and don't exercise, or I exercise and don't eat right. I need to hurry and blend the two together. Grrrr...

Karen - Yeah I know EXACTLY what you mean. My nephew used to be that way until he discovered that he had quite a knack for football. I am SO glad that he is playing sports instead of sitting at his computer and/or video games. I love games but I only play them when my niece is visiting which is every other weekend. I never have been a hardcore "play all the time" kind of gamer but I DO enjoy them when I play against my family !

Jenna - I know how you feel. I ate so well yesterday and did some yard work but I ate SO bad today. I am paying for it because I am feeling SUPER guilty now. Why oh why did I eat that Mexican food today!?

Amber, something seems to have gone wrong when you originally installed your ticker. You should be able to click it and go straight to your page, type your password, put in your update info, and that's that.

I clicked your ticker and couldn't access the site either, so looks like you'll need a new one.
