Christie, Claire and Lindy ~ ROFLMAO! That was a good belly laugh after my crazy day, thanks for that.

Well, a little background on my weightloss journey. I've pretty much been a WW girl. I dropped 30 lbs 5 years ago and then put it back on plus another 35. The last time I saw my doctor I was 28 lbs lighter and she told me to lose weight then so I am dreading having to see her again and have her blame my TTC issues on my weight.

I'm going on a scrapbooking retreat this weekend and probably, heck, who am I kidding, won't be good but I'll be back on the horse again come Monday.

Thanks for the welcomes, girls!

HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY New girls! We are SO glad to have you! I am normally the drill sargeant BUT I have had some Ta ta surgery and let me tell ya I am in no shape for ANYTHING. Especially giving pep talks. I need some myself. I think if I wasn't careful I could go into depresssion over all this! GEEZ that definately doesn't sound like me> Sleep deprivation is not helping and then the pain well let's not even go there....Okay enough complaining. I am SO glad yall are here and admitting that you have a problem and are ready to start trying to conquer it. You have came to the RIGHT place. This is now my favorite section of CT. Strange I know? We are tight over here and I am looking forward to getting to know you girls. So welcome!

Okay so what are your goals for this week? What are you going to avoid and what are yougoing to do better??

Hi Karen~ Sorry you are recovering from surgery, bummer. What did they do to your ta ta's? This morning my goal is just to make it through this crazy baby shower I'm throwing tomorrow for my cousin-and her whole dang family. Then, I'll re-asses.

Lindy- So the original diagnosis was right w/ diabetes?

Mel- I think you need a weekend to hang out and be bad. . Start fresh next week.

Cassie-I love that so much, I might make it my new motto- "I suck a little less" LOL

Good morning ladies. Ok, I haven't set a goal for this week because I have had so much emotional junk going on with being diagnosed. I am going to the three different gyms here for free trials so I can decide on the best one. Although I am fairly sure that I will be going to the one that has an indoor heated pool, so I can do water aerobics. I took a semester of water aerobics Fall of 05 and I had the best time. I need some suggestions on how to go about this. I know for sure I want to lose 30lbs by August 1st. I am also in the process of finding the best diet for me and be able to control my diabetes.

Cartersmom- I understand the ta ta situation my cousin had hers enhanced but she was feeling great in 6 weeks. It has been 8 years and they look amazing. (if that is the kind of ta ta surgery I think you are implying.)

Claire- yes the original diagnoses was correct she just told me the wrong hemobglobin at first.

Mel- Yay, I hope you have a wonderful retreat. I want to go to one now. I guess I will be scrapping more this summer and get DD into it.

Laura- I was hoping my weight gain was my thryroid and could just pop a pill and call it a day. I am considering this a blessing in disguise bc, I don't want to be PG and have to worry about losing my life or my childs bc of something I could take charge of before hand. I didn't think in a million years I would ever have diabetes. Oh well, I am going to take charge of my diabetes. Thanks for the welcome.

Kmreid- I think it sucks but ditto on what i said to Laura. Thanks for the welcome.

Kelly- Thank you for the welcome.

Cassie Jo- So why do you suck a little less?

I just wanted to let you girls know that I FINALLY got my Zumba kit in the mail on Tuesday, and I've done one workout each day since! Let me tell ya, it is HARD. I really would recommend getting the DVD and learning the steps before going to a class, or at least finding a really beginner class to start with. The workout itself is great, and is really fun. The express workout, which is 20 minutes, left me feeling hot, sweaty and definitely worked my body, but the 20 minutes flew by. They say that Zumba is for anyone and everyone, but I think having done some latin dancing helped me a lot. If you're willing to put in the work, I think it's a great workout that doesn't feel like a workout (DH watched it and was convinced it was a "learn to dance" DVD, not an exercise DVD).

So that's my take on Zumba. Unfortunately, I haven't lost any weight yet. I am the same place I was last week. I know you don't see results immediately, but it sure would be nice if you did!! Oh and the best part is that the abs workout is totally unconventional, and would probably turn your DH on

Emily-glad you liked the Zumba, and I am very "intrigued" by the abs workout

Claire, Lindy and Mel-hey, don't I know you?? You gals can do this!!

Karen-this is one of my fave sections of the board too, I think because its a place we can all come together and are not "categorized" by our reproductive status.

Well girls, I guess after I get my b/w results today I will have to officially drop out of weight loss, but I will still read and put in my two cents of course,. I do have to say that I am so GLAD that I lost those 9lbs (which I couldn't have done without you girls) before getting PG because now I'm only 4-5lbs heavier than I was when I got PG with Avery, instead of the 15lbs I would have been. AND I know that next time I will not wait as long post partum to get my butt into gear!

Lindy - I suck a little less cause yesterday when I weighed I had gained!!! (I ate bad the night before) This morning I weighed a little less. I was at like 5 lbs loss, but I been gaining the last couple of weeks. I am "supposed" to be doing weight watchers, but I'm slacking VERY bad! I think WW plan would be a GREAT way to help manage diabetes. Low sodium, low fat, lots of fruit and veggies... My grandmother has diabetes and I'm waiting for the day that I have it too. I already know something is screwy with my blood sugar. When I was pg I failed the glucose test around 10 weeks, but passed the 2nd one. So no diet....then when you normally take it around 28 weeks, same thing fail...did it again and passed. Again no diet, but I almost wish they had put me on one! That being said the ppl I know with diabetes eat simular to what I should be eating on WW. I've done WW before and lost 32 lbs, but went back to my old life style and that didn't work. I'm working on it...hopefully I can get back into the swing of things...I am also have and VERY hard time beginning and exercise regimine (sp). Sorry that turned out long...

Cassie- Well I am excited about losing weight now with so much support. So, if you can't do WW, I think I can help be your cheeleader. I need one too! So what is your WL goal weekly and total? I want to lose at least 30 pounds by Aug 1st.

Update: I weigh 225.2 at home on my scale and that is weighing naked, empty belly, and no pee! I am going to weigh every Monday. What day does everyone weigh in?

Hi everyone!!!!!

My name is Brandy, and I'm 26 yrs old, 5'6" and weigh 210 lbs as of this morning.... My goal is to lose 65 lbs over the next 6-8 months, by cutting out the junk food and sodas and sticking with fruits and veggies. And LOTS of water !!!! Plan an exercise regimine(sp) that I can handle and keep up with lol

Unfortunately there isn't a gym in my area so I'm kinda on my own for exercise here, but I do love to ride my bike with the kids...so best of luck to everyone!!!!

Buona Fortuna

I'm so proud of my new girls! Congratulations on coming over! I know it's hard at first so SAY those numbers to people! Good for y'all. Now, choose a goal number, either a long term one or a short term one, and put up a weight loss ticker so we can cheer you on!

One of the wonderful things about this group is that we've got ladies that do all different plans. We have people on weight watchers, atkins, south beach, variations thereof, individually designed plans (like me). People who exercise more, different kinds, different ways. There is a GREAT variation to learn from.

My story so far (after the first 15 or so 'I hate my husband' pounds came off earlier in the year) was that by mid October last year I felt like crap, on all kinds of meds for miscellaneous reasons, including elevated blood pressure from anxiety, and had to do something in general to help myself feel better. I've lost 64lbs in just over a year, averaging 1.5lbs a week. Slow and steady. SO, what I've done is cut out fast food (I still eat Subway, or plain Arby's roast beef if I get in a jam), cut out soda, and cut out starchy 'junk' carbs (like rice and noodles, chips and stuff like that). I eat whole grain bread only. I EAT BREAKFAST EVERYDAY, and lots of it -- that was hard, cause I've never been a breakfast eater. But Now I have a 12oz carnation shake (1% milk and the chocolate powder), three slices of ww toast with real butter, and either cheese or fruit for breakfast every day. I typically eat either home made sandwiches or dinner leftovers for lunch, sometimes Subway. And In the evening for dinner, I have whatever meat I'm preparing, along with a BIG pile of green veggies -- that is filling. Sometimes another slice of ww toast. If I'm really wanting the pasta or whatever, I'll just have a tablespoon or two. I don't buy anything lowfat except milk (1% organic). I do allow myself a 'vice'. For a while, it was chocolate pudding. For a while it was hostess chocolate cupcakes. Hot cocoa. Now, it's plain hershey's chocolate bars. I MIGHT have one a week, and usually don't eat it all at once. Another BIG key for me is that I increased my fluid intake; I drink one 32oz gatorade every day, and then refil the bottle with water, and drink that too by then end of the evening (I often don't get through ALL the water, but I try). Also, after I eat dinner, I brush my teeth and use mouthwash -- it changes your taste somehow so you know that any snacking you'd do, well it wouldn't taste really good. I was pretty strict with myself (like no extra little bites or cookies if someone brought them at work, that sort of thing) for the first month or two, and then as the train really got rolling, I have my moments where I let something slip past. I've had less than ten sodas in the past 7 months. One was about a week and a half ago. I have noticed that after a few months, your tastes change themselves. I don't even buy pre-packaged meals anymore (like lean pockets or ww dinners), because they don't appeal to me now. I promised Claire I'd tell her what I've done, and that's basically it. I just struck gold for myself, and dramatically changed my metabolism, almost by accident. I don't know if it would work for everyone, but it worked for me. I'm one of those people who has never been thin, and put on weight at a few different points, some of it crept on. I've always tried a little of this or a little of that, but nothing ever worked. Weight watchers worked for me for a little while about 5 years ago, but I couldn't keep up with the meetings, etc. Oh yeah, and I haven't exercised regularly, but am starting too. Except I've forgotten my push-ups for the past three nights (home stuff; distracting). See? Even the 'biggest looser' slips up (where's that tiara?). I'm 5'9"; I was 267lbs last spring, into a size 20, and as of last Sunday am now 203lbs, comfortably in a size 11/12.

Lindy ~ One of the infant mommies, Pam, I think (spamelita), had gestational diabetes and managed it completely with no complications with just lifestyle -- maybe she can give you some pointers? I know practically nothing about diabetic diet. I know it's not the same thing, but maybe it can help?

WOW all these new members joining the weight loss it great! Welcome ladies!!

Speaking of Diabetes, I got this in my email today
http://www.everydayhealth.com/diabet...betes_20080502

dieting and diabetes
http://www.everydayhealth.com/public...c-5f0c4a1fd789

I REALLY REALLY need a tap measure. I havent lost anything this week at all if you count loosing then gaining. Like I mentioned I havent been cheating, I've been drinking my water etc. I dont have any "skinny" clothes since I've been so overweight for years and gave all my old clothes to good will. I dont even have a size 18 pants I can try on to check if they fit. My 20's have always been big on me since Im ALWAYS inbetween sizes UGH. Since all the drama in our home over the past 1.5 weeks I havent been able to go on those long walks to the park and its raining her non stop this week. SO I know that is too probably why i havent lost anything. Go figure when I started April 14th and I get AF that week that I lost but when she is not here, Im gaining 1lb or have plateaued. I'm still doing my excersises at home though when I cant get out. I was out today again dropping off resumes looking for work.

Good morning, goils! I was a little hesitant to list my stats, but after seeing alot of the other girls do it, I feel a little more confident, so here goes. I'm just like Brandy...
5'6" and 208 lbs.
