Yeah, DH said this AM-"well, I guess I need to have you make my plate from now on, and I promise I won't complain about eating good food". So, now I have ground beef (that I got for the Spagetti-but I got too much) and I can't think of a single "good" thing to make with it. Any tips, Ladies?

I'd cook the meat into meatballs, cook, and freeze. Then you'll have them for future spaghetti (instead of adding meat to the sauce.) You might be able to control the portions better that way.
How about making last night's plan (chicken and veggies) tonight?

hmmm, good idea. Thanks Sarah. Actually, the chicken is still in the freezer (oops, I knew I forgot to do something this AM), so not tonight.

Claire ~ I often mix ground beef up with seasonings (s&p, garlic powder, A-1, bbq sauce, worchestershire sauce, meat seasoning) and make patties, then broil them in the toaster oven (toaster oven = my hero) so the excess grease drips off.

I serve most things with a BIG pile of green veggies. I mostly only make spinach, broccoli, asparagus spears, snap peas, brussel sprouts, or french style green beans - I use frozen and light steam and season it. I'd never be successful with fresh veggies. Frozen works really well for me.

As for carbs/starches I dunno; it's one of the things I cut out. I make packet pasta or potatoes, or boil-in-bag rice, or like right now I have a box of frozen twice baked potatoes in individual wrappers. I have to give him something like that, but I don't pay any attention to the caloric content of that stuff cause I don't eat it, or will only have a couple small bites. But I don't know -- maybe look into whole grain pastas? Baked potatoes?

Thanks, Steph. I'm with ya on the frozen veggies! I guess I could make burger patties and grill them, just w/o the bun. I'm not cutting carbs, but the bun is like another 120calories!

Not too far but far enough. Any ideas? We want it to include water and sun even if it is the hotel pool. We were going to a hotel/spa resort in Asheville, NC until we found out $800 a night Yeah we can't afford that! lol

Well. I might just have to start calling it that, cause i've never known how to refer to it. Truly. Everything else has a 'name' - to make notes before grocery shopping, or write on a recipe card, or to tell DH what's for dinner, etc. But I hate saying 'hambuger patties' or 'ground beef patties'. I think it's the patties part that bugs me. Hamburger steaks. I can live with that. Ahhh...the little things that make life better.

I got a haircut Monday. YAY. Just in time to have our pictures made for the company website today. I'd like to say I planned that, but it was a coincidence. And I convinced Daniel to get his hair cut short again. Not that it was long-long, but he had been letting it grow. So it is unmanagable, and curling around the neck, and he starts to look like a drowned rat. Never seen a man who could get such insane bed-head. I told him when we become independantly wealthy, he could have purple hair for all I care. And I had to pull out the big gun at the last minute this morning and tell him it makes it look thinner on top when it's longer. *eek* I know, but it's true. He looks nice with short hair. I told him I wanted to see HIM again (meaning not this representation that's been a destructive mess for the past year and a half). He complained. But he did it. (YAY!)

I guess I'm going to have breakfast for lunch, since I had tacos for breakfast (the kind from the little restaurant we always go to with the whole wheat lard free tortillas, so s'okay).

Hi girls.

My friend, my friend...she is about 280 lbs TTC #1 for about 6 months now...no luck. I actually got her to chart for like 2 months. Looks like she is O'ing fine. She doesn't want to chart or hear ANYTHING that she might need to look into. Rac looked at her charts for me and we both noticed her LP is kinda short, well she wouldn't chart after that.

Well she is also trying to diet. She just told me at 3:15 PM she had not eaten today. She just took a diet pill and is not hungry and she is trying to eat ONE meal a day. I told her:

"Girl that is not healthy!!! Your body starts storing fat b/c it doesn’t know when you will feed it again. Food is what fuels your body to burn fat. You just have to eat the right foods. I know I’ve told you that already though so that’s all I can do."

So I'm sure she'll be mad at me or say what ever.

Not to mention that a diet pill isn't good for a baby (or her). Cassie sorry about your friend. Sounds like she isn't open for help.

I just told her exactly that! I also told her she will just end up very hungry and pig out, she said, NO she wont. She said she will eat a reasonable salad tonight and eat small lunch and supper starting tomorrow so everyone will be happy b/c her coworker told her the same thing I did. SO I threw in there "Remember you are also TTC and you want to make sure if you get pg that you are giving your bean what it needs from the get go" I was going to add that IMO she shouldn't be taking a diet pill while TTC (Prescription strenght at that)........Ugggh..

Hey Cass, you're welcome to tell her a little about my story if you like. I was 267 at my peak last year -- and I've talked a lot before about what I have done. But tell her that a few months ago, I spent a week or two where I wasn't eating lunch almost at all, and I actually STOPPED loosing, when it had been pouring off at a minimum of 1lb a week for months, and that I wasn't exercising or anything else that would have changed it. Once I started eating lunch again, I started loosing again. It was as simple as that. It really doesn't make any sense to the layman's brain -- we've been so cross-wired and programmed by the huge portion sizes and convenience foods being so heavy in calories and fats and sodium and stuff like that, and yet still the 'eating NOTHING should make you thin' thing is prevalent in most people's minds, even in supermodel jokes, you know?

I can tell her that I, without a shadow of a doubt, eat more now (binging long ago aside) than I ever did before.

You can even give her my email info if you think she'd be willing (PM me if you think so). I've spent YEARS heavy, and getting heavier, trying a little of this and a little of that, loosing a little a few times, but never having any real success. I needed a drastic health and weight change, and what I did had drastic, yet healthy results, and I NEEDED to see them FAST to keep motivated, and see the proof that I was taking good care of myself and that my body was FINALLY responding to something (a combination of somethings). I'M NOT HUGRY, and I'm NOT depriving myself, not by a long shot.

I know you've told her a lot of this and you sound so distraught -- maybe coming from someone else who was close to her weight and has had a lot of success in a short time could be a tool for you to use? I don't know how much more you can do. Being willing for your friend to be mad at you in a serious way because of what you had to say because you are worried about her health, that's about as serious as you can get about helping someone.

If you think any of my story can help, you tell her everything you want to. Or I will if that channel is open. I'll even type out a general outline of what I eat, how much, and when (I might do that anyway when I make my thread about my journey once I hit my goal weight). Oh, that's awful, doing that to herself...I'm so sorry that she feels like that is the answer, and I'm so sorry that you are having to worry and trying so hard to help without her letting you. Sucks. I certainly know what that's like. {{{hugs}}}

Steph - I'll keep it in mind, but I know she isn't ready to do anything for real. When we first met she wasn't this big, but she was pretty big and had NEVER even thought about a diet. Always just ate (I typed eated and erased ) what she wanted. I don't know why the diets now. Even with TTC I would send her exactly what Rac said and told her how knowledgeable and experienced she was. She didn't listen. I know makeing a baby is more important to her than losing weight, so if she wouldnt listen about that, I KNOW she won't about this. She goes to WW tomorrow, she is down a total of 7. something lbs...not sure how long that took her, but the first week she is on the diet pills she loses like 5 lbs at one time. Anywho...I just think when she is REALLY ready (if ever) she will seek some advice. I just told her I don't think she should be on the diet pills either esp. since she is TTC. She didn't email me back. I told her to look it up and make sure it doesn't say anything about birth defects (I am sure it probably will) maybe that will scare her enough.

You could say most of that about me...just ate what I wanted, what I made for everyone else, all of it. I wasn't one of those people who talked about my weight or anything, or said 'I don't need that' referring to some food. And she talked to SOME doctor to get prescription diet pills... So, she is going to WW? Well, hmmm...I guess the only consolation is that starving herself and taking the pills probably won't last long, I just hope she doesn't come out of it with bigger problems (like a different type of eating disorder), or drop it all together.

I wish I had something. It's frustrating just from here not being able to help, and it's not even my friend. I hope she's okay.

Oh Cass - I hate that for your friend. I have a friend at work who complained during months and months of TTC, but smoke, drank, took diet pills, etc. Luckily she POAS early so not too much of that once she got pg.

I've done good so far today. Healthy foods, small portions. Meanwhile the girls at work ate Taco Bell. The one I was talking a/b yesterday at a gordita, nachos supreme, and cinammon twists. I understand that everyone pigs out sometimes, but she does almost every single day at work.

Okay so I am a member of the pig out club today.... I ate waffles ( two eggos) with coffee for breakfast then a small taco salad for lunch from home then I just ate roast beef(small slice) baked potato and green beans for dinner but I had TWO rolls when I should have not eaten any...Now the dessert I brought home....The choices were choc cake with Choc icing or banana pudding...I brought home BOTH So I need to just say no? BUT my mind says when we are watching tv to EAT that darn dessert. DARN SWEETS AND BREAD they get me EVERYTIME!! I can't wait until I can WORKOUT again. Girls it is killing me. I know it is too soon though because I vacuumed today and I should NOT have. I felt it majorly and am very sore now. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up.... I go back to the doctor next week and I HOPE he says I can work out again!! Okay so how am I supposed to be the drill sargeant when I am eating like the girl at Kelly's work?

Cassie- I doubt there is anything you can say that will sink in but keep trying to encourage encourage encourage without it sounding like criticism. You are doing the right thing by worrying about her.

Okay girls I just got home from working at church and I am oh so tired...Dh is bathing the kids and I am about to pay bills. Fun times.
