I haven't been following this thread. You girls are chatty.

Karen - I think bf is my secret. Plus I just am more active as a mom than I ever was working full time and I don't get all those free customer lunches anymore so I am not eating nearly as much as I did when I was working.

Steph - I think you are doing great. 54 pound is so much weight. You have to be proud of that.

Kelly - Be careful with those pills.

Heather - .6 lbs is great. It will be so easy to lose the other .2.

Bina - Way to go on the salad.

Okay, did better today. I made sure I got down a bunch of my gatorade 1st thing this am, and I'm about 1/3 of the way through my water. I'm now out of chocolate cupcakes. So I won't buy any more. Had my good snacks today, even though my eating schedule is a little out of whack cause we were crazy busy. And did my veggies last night with a ground beef patty, broiled in the toaster oven, so my digestive system was back on track for first thing this morning.

A thought: I don't know too much about where in the digestive system most nutrients/calories/fats/etc are absorbed, but is it possible that eating a lot of stuff like fiber and green veggies with fluids, which seem to 'move it on through' at a faster pace than other kinds of foods, actually keeps you from absorbing extra calories, because the food doesn't spend as much time in the digestive tract? Someone who knows something about this, 'weigh in'. (pun intended )

Steph- I really don't know much about it either, but I do know that greens do make you go to the bathroom. WTG on getting back on your schedule!

Kelly- I saw where thats coming on. Hope I remember to watch it.

Bina- Avery is too cute!! That's just so sweet.

I didn't get to run yesterday like I planned. It was storming yesterday morning and then we went shopping all day long. I felt like I walked soooo much though. I just put my workout clothes on. I'm waiting on Lawson to get up from a nap and then we are going to see dh. I'm going to get on the elliptical there for about 30 minutes.

Oh yeah, yesterday dh got me a new pair of shoes for my birthday. I love them. They have the Ipod thing to go with them. I didn't get that yet. Here's the catch though---I can't have them till my birthday, It's April 10th. He's too funny.

Steph ~ Yes you are right in your thinking. Your nutrients are absorbed most in the small intestine (particularly most in the duodenum...this is the first part after the stomach, its really rather small irl but it has a lot of villi that give it a large surface area for absorption). Everything is absorbed kind of uniquely based on what it is, proteins are broken into their amino acid or just smaller peptides for absorption, carbohydrates have to be broken down into monosaccharides, and lipids (aka fats) are unique because they are insoluble in water (proteins and carbs are sol.) so that is why you need bile from your gallbladder to emulsify the lipids and help you absorb them (aided by pancreatic enzymes...these empty into the duodenum through a really gross looking little hole). Fats, since insoluble and need all that help, tend to slow ya down and the longer stuff is in there, the longer time for more absorption (just like you said). Its really a pretty neat process!

Kayla~ Reading your last post just hit me how smart you are.

Heather~ Good job on your .6 pound weight loss!

Kelly~ 5 pounds is awesome!

Steph~ I'm so glad you're back on your good eating habits. I'm totally not. I did NOT put my big girl panties on! But I will be back on track tomorrow, promise! And I decided not to weigh myself this week...I'm pretty sure I've gained, I only got in three workouts, and I've been eating whatever I want. It would just make me depressed and i'd probably feel worse. So I decided to get back in the game and I'll weigh in next week.

I got my workout in. 35 minutes of cardio. Whew, I was sweating it too!!

My goal for the week is 5 days of workouts. I don't have to work all week so maybe I can get in 5 days. I hope the weather cooperates too.

Jenna- Good luck this week getting back into the groove!

OINK OINK is all I can say for my weekend. We had maple doughnuts of course...TONS of them! and of course all the country food Nema cooked. We jsut relaxed and enjoyed but today dh and I are back in the game. I did weigh and haven't gained but I feel sluggish since i ate yucko food the whole time. Started off right today with my breakfast and will work out later. Looking forward to it actually. And I am with HEather my goal for this week is 5 days of working out!

I have been a bit constipated so I am thinking I need some major fiber!!!

I am back and watching you girls! Good luck this week!

I did all of my runs last week, but no extra. So, I worked out 4 times. My eating has stunk so that is my goal for the week.. eat right again. I have 7 weeks until I go to the beach and I need to get it in gear.

It is a start of a new week, so we can put all the bad doings of last week behind us and start fresh!

I started WW last Tuesday and weighed today (I weigh every day) and I have already lost 4lbs! and that is with eating out three times for lunch last week. I'm going for a birthday dinner tomorrow night and my work is having a pancake breakfast thing on Wednesday, so I will have those temptations to overcome!

My goals is to be back in the 150s by the end of the month. I do need to step up with working out more too.

Bina- That's awesome. For the pancake bfast I would bring some lite syrup and only eat one pancake. Then you can participate without blowing your diet. Good luck!

Christie-great minds think alike! I signed up to bring syrup so I found some sugar free stuff and plan to go easy because they will have toppings galore! That is what is great about WW though, you can make up for a bad meal by being good the rest of the day.

Bina that is GREAT! I am with you it is the start of a new week!

Christie- you will look FAB in that bathing suit. I am so proud of your drive and determination! With that you can do ANYTHING! You already look great so if you lost no more you would still be GOOD!

Jenna join us in putting last week behind you and starting fresh! You are going to do great this week. I totally get the temptation of GS cookies. I do not and CAN NOT say no. There ya go....My biggest sin! lol

I have been a good girl all day today. SHOCKING I know. I ate a good breakfast then had lunch out with dh and chose a turkey wheat wrap with greens and cranberries. NO MAYO! Then for Dinner we had Tuna with a bit of light mayo and dill pickle with some wheat thins. I plan to have some yogurt for snack with grapenuts. I also got in a four mile run and then raked leaves so extra calories burned!

Hope everyone has a good night! BURN some calories! How ever you choose. LOL
