This is such a good point. I have started to stockpile when I can find good prices on something we will eat. I always try to have cans of soup, beans, tuna, fruit. Seattle has such a high chance that we will have a major natural disaster that I want to be prepared. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get some bottle watered stored. I don't think we could last 2 weeks as it would be hard to store that much water.
For christmas my mom bought every family wind up radio/flashlights since we had that 7 day power outage in dec 06. You can even charge your cell phone with it.

Okay, this is the red cross checklist, but I think this is only for a 72-hour supply. I guess you could just expand the list in order to supply more.
American Red Cross Space is definitely an issue for me. We have a storage shed behind the townhouse that I could use to store some things, but it's definitely not "cool" in the summer in there. I think I will try to stock up on at least getting some bottled water. You can go a lot longer without food than you can without water. A first-aid kit is a good idea too, and having a good supply of vitamins. It would be nice if we were allowed to stock up an antibiotics, but I doubt a doctor will give you a prescription so you can add it to your emergency preparedness kit.

Okay, and this was distributed by the LDS church. They're big on food storage, so it has some good ideas.
