We have been talking about this a lot on the TTC side. Check it out in the January Thread.

For starters the main food of interest (LOL) has been Lunchmeat (threat of Listeria)

No Caffeine

Nothing with Nitrates

No artificial sweetners

No fish high in Mercury

This is all I can think of right now

Well, it looks like I've been doing it all wrong. I drink Iced Tea with Splenda practically everyday. I have an occassional Diet Coke. And I've had fast food milkshakes and soft serve ice cream (at least 2 times a month). I guess I can give up the milkshakes and the soft serve.

Wendy - Think your splenda is ok in moderation. From WebMD:

The use of saccharin is strongly discouraged during pregnancy because it can cross the placenta and may remain in fetal tissues. But, the use of other non-nutritive or artificial sweeteners approved by the FDA is acceptable during pregnancy. These FDA-approved sweeteners include aspartame (Equal or NutraSweet), acesulfame-K (Sunett) and sucralose (Splenda). These sweeteners are considered safe in moderation so talk with your health care provider about how much non-nutritive sweetener is acceptable during pregnancy.

As long as it doesn't have fish, then its okay. You can have the rolls with rice and guacamole but I think thats it.

There is a lot of sushi that you can eat. California rolls are ok. Just avoid the uncooked fish. I love sushi too.

Betsy~ I'm a sushi WHORE!!! Oh how I love my sushi! I actually found a lot of rolls here that I could eat. We went for sushi a few weeks ago, I told the server that I was pregnant, and she told me everything on the menu that came cooked. So it was all good!

I'm an old fashioned sushi girl...if it's still swimming even better. And I was serious about being a sushi slut. During my single days since I was broke whenever a guy asked me out on a date I would suggest sushi. If they said yes then they would get another date...if they suggested something "cheaper" I didn't go out with them again.

and poor Carlos - when I had him take me to sushi he was shocked. He had never eaten sushi before. But he's hooked too

Default foods

I have to admit i ate some peruvian stew with fish, clams, shirmp, and calamari. they cook it at such a high temps, i think it was okay. I was a a vegetarian for 7 years before my pregnancy but i have started eating seafood twice a week because i am concerned about not getting enough protein for baby.

*Steph scratches her head and wonders what kind of sushi Cristina has that comes with guacamole...* ROFLMAO!

There was this short lived restaurant chain in San Antonio..."Wok-a-Mole". They had Chinese and Mexican.
