Kanieka- Oh he does eat well, huh? Hmmm, yep I guess your next best bet is to explain to him that being pressured and stressed isn't good for baby either. I say as long as you aren't drinking, smoking, doing illegal drugs or most OTC drugs-then you are OK. I mean, I don't think there has been a study that proves that a big mac causes low birth weight, KWIM?

I've decided that I'm not emotionally stable enough to watch the discovery chanel baby programs-LOL! I caught one this weekend and for the first time I was totally wigged out about labor! It was scary and made me wanna puke a bit. And then this poor little guy was born with trisomy 13 (I think it was, maybe 18 ) and I just lost it bawling. OMG, I bet I was funny to watch. No more "special delivery" for me!

Kanieka, I would suggest you make changes slowly so it doesnt feel so daunting. Try to start with one bottle of water a day and then move to two and so on. Also if you are still feeling like you want fast food have a chicken sandwich on wheat instead of white. I had to really change my eating when I got pg with my first and I took it slowly and by the second tri-mester I was doing really good.

Claire - Indeed he eats pretty good...he has cut back on even more since he began working out again. I guess I will explain that to him...I hope I dont make him feel bad.

No drinking, smoking, illegal drugs or OTCs for me. I had a TERRIBLE headache last night and I ALWAYS take Excedrin but I know now that I can ONLY take Tylenol (Regular, PM, or Extra Strength) so while I was making my grocery store run yesterday, I picked up some Tylenol Extra Strength Rapid Release Tablets...surprisingly, they did the job and they did the job quick. So now I have the bottle in my purse in case this happens again. I hope not though...there was a point where I was getting headaches everyday...it was terrible! Had an MRI and saw the nuerologist but they didnt know what the problem was. I am just glad it went away.

Im sure a big mac wont hurt BUT at the same time, when I have a soda or have fast food, I feel so GUILTY about it.

Mom3Girls - I will try that and see what gradual results I get. I am sure it will be better than just trying to change everything overnight. I think that is what is overwhelming me...I feel like I have to do it all at once.

I know it will get better...it just seems so hard at the moment.

So I just called my insurance company.

I have Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plan...it is the greatest insurance ever! No copays for dr visits, etc!

I wanted to verify my "maternity" coverage to see if I was covered or not. I AM ELIGIBLE.

As long as I go to one of their health centers (which is where my normal doctor is), and I am referred by her to the OB, I am 100% COVERED!!!

No copays to the OB!

No fees for the hospital stay!

Nothing!

Well, possibly one thing...they did mention that if I needed to see the anesthesiologist and they were not "contracted" then my insurance would cover 70%. If they are, then I am covered but it all depends on who is on call once I am there for labor. But they mentioned that they connect it to the referral...so its a win-win situation. What a wonderful day for me today!!! She said the normal cost is about $1200 so I would pay $360...not too bad!

It beats having SERIOUS hospital bills after the little one is here...thats for sure!

Kanieka--Wow, you have awesome insurance! I'm jealous

Claire--If you are already scared about labor, I would recommend NOT reading the labor sections of the pg books; they are not helpful, anyways, as they mostly just outline worst case scenarios. And for movies/shows, try to watch some good documentaries on REAL births that are NOT worst case scenarios. In the movies and such, it is so unrealistic with all the screaming and people freaking out. It does not have to be that way. Once again, I recommend the movie "The Business of Being Born"(they should pay me for advertising!) Not only is it informational about labor, but it shows quite a few GOOD births. They are mostly at home, and with midwifes, but keep in mind that even a hospital birth with drugs is usually going to be much more normal than the stuff in most shows. Even shows like Bringing Home Baby or Baby Story seem to focus on really wierd situations. I was TOTALLY freaked out at the first labor I watched, but now I am totally calm and excited for the labor. Oh, and this goes for everyone, when people start to tell you their labor story (and they will), don't feel bad interrupting them to ask that they NOT tell you their story unless it is a good story. Again, what happened to them has NOTHING to do with you, and it will only add to your anxiety list of things that "Could" go wrong. I am positive that most of life is all about how you frame things in your mind. If you expect bad to happen, it will. So, I figure that surrounding yourself with only good birth stories will not only make you less scared, but more likely to enjoy your childs entrance into the world.

Speaking of; sure wish mine would enter soon...

Kanieka- Yay to getting your referral and you have awesome insurance

Jen- Aww....your poor Dh ...lol

Claire- Yeah, some of those baby shows are pretty emotional, but I love them. I can handle them b/c I have already been through labor and I have a child with heart problems. I still boo hoo with the best of 'em though...lol

Okay, I feel like a pig. I just ate a whole bag of powdered doughnuts (Small bag, but still a bag)
They were REALLY good though

Kanieka- ditto. I'm jealous, too. I have HMO but I haven't even called to verify most of my coverage because I'm stuck with these fools anyhow. LOL. But that is AWSOME coverage-you go, girl.

Krissy- Thanks for the tips. I didn't used to be afraid of labor.....and I'm not terrified, it just sunk in that I'm going to go through that bloody yucky mess! LOL. I just can't watch those c-section documentaries yet, because the blood and the scalpel and my nausea .

Well, I just made my appt with the perinatalogist (I guess that's what they are) so they can monitor my cervix. I had a cone biopsy and we are trying to be cautious. It won't be until I'm 12wks tho-darn, I had kinda thought it'd be sooner, but I guess there's not much incompetant risk before the 2nd tri.

Claire- I agree with Krissy. There are a lot more labors that are normal than there are bad ones. Also, even if you do have a rough labor, those memories will fade away when you look into you little one's beautiful eyes. It's all so worth it. When I had my girls, I had a vaginal delivery with Ginni and a C-Section with Graci (long story), but as you can see I will do it again in a heartbeat. My girls are my world.
Sorry the novel, but I just wanted to tell you that everything is worth it.

Wow, so much to catch up on!

Dh was home all weekend and didn't work so we just hung out and spent time together. I told him I needed more times like that so I could remember why I married his crazy butt! haha!

Kanieka- Congrats on the insurance! That's awesome! I bet a lot of moms on here are super jealous!

Congrats to all the new BFP's!!! We've had a ton just here recently! There will be a big baby boom in 6 to 9 months!

Claire- Yes, I also have a retroverted uterus. It was folded in half and crimped backwards, and I also have endometriosis. My dr said that having a retroverted, or tilted, uterus is incredibly common, enough so that they don't usually even mention it. But having endo on top of that can complicate things. It took about six months to get pg with Jeslynn, but I was doing acupuncture, drinking herbal teas, using preseed, laying on my tummy after bd, temping, pretty much everything except taking something like clomid. We did it all naturally, but I was worried that we would have to go to fertility treatments if it didn't work soon since my dr was saying I would need surgery for the endo if I didn't get pg soon. With this pg, we tried for 2 or 3 months, took a break (using condoms) for 2, then got pg the first month back at it. I was surprised it happened so quickly, but they say once you've had one, your uterus may stay upright like it is supposed to be. I have to say though, I had a lot of cramping for the first 4 or 5 months with Jeslynn, and this time the cramping has been worse. I don't know why, but it has been much more intense. I don't know if that's how it is for everyone though. Wow, I just wrote a novel! If you want to know any more, you can pm me so I'm not taking up the entire thread! lol

Krissy - nothing is worse than hurrying up and waiting! You're so anxious to get into the safe zone and then you're sitting there going, okay, any day now! lol I hope it happens soon for you! Have you tried walking backwards, patting your head and rubbing your belly while eating carrot sticks and drinking fruit cocktail juice? Okay, just thought I would check.. lol

Heidi- I'm with you on the remodeling and moving. Dh is a contractor and owns his own construction company. We buy houses, live in them while we remodel them and then two or three years later sell them and move again. We actually just got moved into our new house and our old house went on the market today! It can be super stressful. At least you are in the home stretch now!

Back- I think that would be a good question for your dr. I know a lot of women get put on "bed rest" and can't bd until they are out of their first trimester. It would be something I would call about. I get cramping after bd whether pg or not, so I am a bad person to be answering I guess. lol Stinking endo..

Well, I've taken up enough of this thread for now. I hope everyone's having a wonderful day!

Claire- having recently gone through the labor and delivery process, I can tell you that it is what it is. Just try to stay calm and remember the whole point- to bring this little miracle into the world. I know that you struggled with infertility. I did too and that made the whole thing that much more sacred. I didn't think of it as scary-in the back of my mind I always knew that labor would be hard and hurt, but I focused on getting to finally meet my little Dominic. I was actually so excited to start pushing! As you get farther along and closer to your due date, your excitement will take over any anxiety you may have. Afterwards I was just in shock of what had just happened. I still cannot believe that I pushed him OUT of me!!

Jo- Thanks! That helped alot. You're right, I've got several months for this all to sink in. I can see how I will eventually be more concearned with getting it over with! LOL.

Sara- Thanks! I guess it's nothing I need to worry about. Although from the little bit I found on the internet, it can be bad if the uterus doesn't right itself later in the PG, but it's supposedly rare. Ugg, there's no way I could live with all that moving and remodeling! WTG, you must be a VERY patient person.

Anyone else thinking that they feel the baby has hiccups? I swear that every day I feel what are pretty rythmic movements that resemble hiccups. It can almost be as annoying as having them myself!

Heidi--LOL--that's how I can tell how he's laying; hiccups are always near his head. Ely's have gotten stronger as I have gotten further along, to the point that now my whole belly moves when he hiccups. It is SO annoying! Now that he is so far down in my pelvis, it is really wierd feeling. It is sort of cute, though, to know she is hiccupping in there, huh?

Hiccups! Ugghh, Dominic would get them on average three times a day in-utero. Now that he's out he gets them when he eats too fast and/or doesn't get a good burp in. He makes little sighs after each one and sometimes gets fussy. It's got to be so annoying for him. I hate when he has them. I read that nursing can get rid of them and we've been trying that, if he's up to eating. It's worked every time so far.

It was cute in-utero, though.

Kanieka - a little tip that helps me with water drinking - Use a straw....seems dumb, but it makes me drink it faster or something. I also got a HUGE 52 oz. insulated mug at a gas Station Convienience Store and I fill it with water every morning and try to finish it each day, it is really esy if you have it all there with you (especially if you work sitting at a desk) and you don't have to "remember" to fill a bottle over or buy a new one when you run out.

Also, maybe if he packs your lunch for you every day it would make him happy and help you, he can put in things that are good and it is one less thing for you to think about???

Wow great insurance...we had pretty good insurance with CJ, and only had the first $20 co-pay for prenatal visits, all the rest of the regulat ones were covered under that....had I had a regular pregnancy and delivery, I would've paid like $100 total to have her, but since I had to go to specialists for Ultrasounds and then had a c-section, we ended up with about $5,000 in Dr. bills for prenatal, delivery, hospital stay and then follow up for her and I. Could've been worse, too I guess!

Heidi - Cj had the hiccupps TONS near the nd of the pregnancy and still got them alot after she was born, poor thing, she looked so miserable when she had them when she was so tiny....it was kind of cute/funny in utero, though - well, except when I was trying to sleep - not so funny then!!

Sprout is kicking and I need a snack...talk to you all later!

Jess

P.S. - Did I say if it is a girl, we have decided her name will be Evelyn Mae - "Evie" for short. For a boy, William, with one of these middle names: Halden, Lee, or John or Robert William - we will probably call him "'Liam" ( for the last half of Wil-liam)
