there was a study done the last time I was pg which was between dec & feb that said no caffeine because it increases your chances of a m/c by alot. . . I completely cut it out at least untill the 2nd tri. .. but some people dont cut it out at all and have healthy babies. I am just super cautious due to my past pg history

Hope everyone is doing fantastic!! I have had the worst migraine the last 3 days to the point that i think I am going to make an appointment with my dad's accupincture guy i am so afraid of needles!! yikes!

Bugaboo - Im excited about the new doctor too. I just hope that I am comfortable with a male. I have always preferred a female doctor (dentist as well).

As far as the caffeine goes, like I mentioned to Claire, I will try plain water for a while and if I feel the need for some flavor, then I will go ahead and have a Lipton Tea packet. It has been quite a challenge NOT having cokes but when I feel the urge, I either go and get some water or some oange juice.

I just want to make sure me and baby are ok and we make it past the first tri. I guess I am a little nervous because I know that these first few months are crucial

You know, we worry about SO many things during pg, I think a lot of people cut out caffeine just so that it is one less thing to stress about. You don't have to drink ONLY water, either; there are many other choices (juices and caffeine free teas, for example). Soda pop is not good for you for a variety of reasons; it is a lot of empty calories, and if you are putting calories in your body, they may as well be beneficial; but again, if you have some here and there, I really doubt it will make a difference.

Allison...I will try my best not to take in any KNOWN caffeine for now...

Bugaboo - I agree that we worry cause I know I am worried about a lot and I am only about a month in...this will be an interesting 40 weeks...whats a good caffeine free tea? I am not a tea fan either but I will try anything at this point

allison- Hope the headaches subside for you. dont' worry about the needles. They are NOTHING like hypodermics. I have major needle issues also, but acu doesnt' bother me.

Kanieka- Whatever works for you. DH is so funny about having to "drink" something all day that he can easily put away about 8-12 cokes a day. I've been trying to get him off of that as long as we've been together. So I just wanted to make sure you knew, in case you drank as much of those teas as my DH would-LOL. Hey, you need a ticker, too.

I've been really good about avoiding the lunch meat lately- didn't realize how often I reach for a sandwich

allison - accupuncture actually feels pretty good. I went thru treatment during IVF (at which point I was super sick of needles) & I felt really good afterwards. I would recommend it!

Heidi - she is beautiful! It must feel so exciting to actually see her! It look slike she is blowinng you a kiss in the second pick.

Krissy - glad the appt went well. I think you should enjoy a little time off, especially if it won't count towards your maternity leave! I think you will really appreciate it later!

Claire - I think the heart rate sounds great. The important thing is that you heard it!!

Kanieka - good luck with the new Dr!

Allison - I just started going to acupuncture. Initially, I was a little weirded out by all of the needles, but you don't even feel them. It's the most relaxing 45 minutes you will ever experience and since I've been going, I haven't had one headache (which had been becoming a daily thing for me since I had taken clomid).

Kanieka - If you find a tea that you do like, try to limit the green tea (I know your dh was being sweet by buying those packets for you), but too much green tea can actually inhibit the body's ability to absorb folic acid, which is essential to pg, especially the first trimester.

Kanieka- Whenever I am out at restaurants I don't like the water either so I always order either Sprite, Ginger Ale, or Root Beer since they are caffiene free.

Hey ladies!

I agree about the acupuncture. My mom actually dated an acupuncturist for quite a while when we were trying to get pg with Jeslynn. I was going pretty regularly, thank goodness for "freebies", and it really is relaxing, as long as the room is warm. If you are freaked out by them, ask the acu. to put on right in the middle of your forehead between your eyes. I believe this point is called Yin Tang (pronounced tong, actually), but don't quote me on that, it's been a while. Anyway, this point is the one that relaxes you and actually almost made me fall asleep several times. Stinking needles in the way make it hard to sleep. lol Good luck. It's really not bad.

There was a ton to catch up on, so I'm sorry I'm not addressing everyone. It's been a long day. I was up all night last night with diarrhea, thank you pregnancy hormones, and so I'm dragging today. I did have my first prenatal appointment today, and I got to see my little bean! He/She is measuring 11w4d! Big jelly bean! She said everything looked great. There was a place on the ultrasound that we looked at for quite a while trying to determine what it was. It looked like an empty sac. She thinks it was either a small hematoma from implantation that will be re-absorbed or it could have been a vanishing twin. She said we can't know for sure, so I'm trying not to think about it. Anyway, I got some great pics, but photobucket is being stupid and automatically uploads them as tiny, so I'm going to have to mess with it to make them big enough to see.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Back from the Ultrasound, and we are at 19 weeks today!

And its a girl - well, the Dr. said he couldn't see anything there ( I had tons of U/S with CJ and it was very obvious - this one wasn't visible to me either), so he is 85% sure it is a girl...we will have another U/S later, and who knows, maybe it was just hiding, but for now, its a girl!

Everything measured very well, Head and belly were 18w 5d, and the femur bone was 19w 5d - so we might have a tall one here!

The dues date it adjusted me to on the U/S computer was 2/28, my other one was 2/26 - so not much difference!

It was so nice to see the little hands, feet and face and all the wiggles and movement! And of course our favorite the heartbeat!

TTFN

Jess

Jess - Glad your dr visit went well!

RAC - I guess I wont be having those packets...I feel so bad though...I dont want to tell DH that I wont be drinking them...

Jen - Thanks!

Claire - I am going to see what works best for me and go from there. I have noticed that I prefer NOT to have cold water...I like it better room temp. Its weird but I like it better like that (unless its super hot out or something...then Id take the cold water). As far as a ticker, I dont know how far I am so I didnt want to put one up yet. Should I guesstimate for the time being?

BradysMommy - I will be sure to keep that in mind...either that or juice and I am good to go!

Heidi- Gosh what a cute baby you have!!! That is such an amazing picture.

Rhea- 122 is perfect!!! And it's perfectly normal to measure within a week on either side of your EDD. YAY on seeing the blob!! I can't wait to see legs and arms and stuff.

Haley- Welcome!!

I posted my 8w belly pics on my blog in the original pic post. I actually feel great today. No nausea, no headache and not much fatigue! I can't complain!

Jess--YAY For a Pink Bean!!!! How exciting!! Will your doctor do another u/s, or is this it? Sounds like the baby is healthy, which is all that matters, but I wouldn't want to buy anything too gender oriented on 85%!? Then again, I may be wierd, I had to see his boy bits 4 or 5 times before I even believed them! LOL! Congrats!!!

Jen--How are you feeling? Uncomfortable yet? Did you ever get any good 3D pic's of Jackson? Have you posted them?

Sara--Glad everything is looking good!

Well, talked to the chair of my dept, and she said that she thought it was actually better this way. At least this way they aren't trying to cover all of my classes in a last minute rush (plus, I think she was really worried that my water might break on campus). So, I am going to grade all of my students papers this weekend, type up minutes from our last dept meeting, and work on the proposal I am making for a summer hybrid course. But, tomorrow will be my last day actually teaching, and hopefully I will get all of this stuff done over the weekend and can start to focus on getting ready to be mommy instead of worrying about school. Yay, I am sort of getting excited (even though I still feel a little guilty. I'm not really sick or anything, so it seems wierd to be home?)

Krissy- YAy! I'm glad you will be taking it easy.

Kanieka- Do you know when the first day of your last AF was? Or within a day or so? That's how I got my ticker configured. ewww, room temp? LOL, you are funny!

Rac- Did not know that about green tea. Still trying to figure out the difference between green and regular-LOL.

Stacy- Thanks! Glad you are feeling better

Jess- Great news!

Wonder where Chrystie has gotten to?

Jess - Congrats!

Krissy - Congrats on your last day of work! That is very exciting! You'll get to rest up!
No good pics yet. We are scheduled to go back next Wed afternoon. I am getting more uncomfortable, specifically at night. I have been taking a day off a week, and working from home on Thursdays, so that is helping.

Stacy - Glad you are feeling better today!

Claire - LOL 'regular' tea is usually black tea. Green tea is packed with antioxidants and very good for the body, just in moderation - like everything else.
