Claire--YAY For your bean!!! 122 doesnt sound strange to me; maybe you are just having a boy (boys are supposed to have slower hb). Ely's has been around 135 all the way through. I think I read anywhere from 120-170 is normal for a bean? Try not to worry; seeing that hb is great news!
Haley--Congratulations and welcome! Well, I better go get ready for my appt. I have terrible pain in my very lower belly, so I am hoping they can tell me why. No contractions, though. Ugh. |

Haley- welcome to the preggo side! I LOVE the name Brady. I had it selected as Dominic's middle name, but we went with Anthony as DH has many relatives with the name, including his grandfather whom he never really knew.
Claire- isn't it amazing to see that SOMETHING is really in there?? It still never sank in for me, even when I saw him pop out! It is just surreal. Dominic's HB was always around 135 also. My prediction based solely on HB is: it's a boy! Krissy- good luck today! I know you don't want them messing around in there due to GBS, but I wish we knew if and what was going on- dilation wise I mean. Stacey- do you mean to air them out like walk around bare chested or do you mean not to dry them when he is finished? |

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Claire- I think you are going to have a boy also...Brady's heartbeat was always between 140-150 and when we got our 8 week ultrasound with this one it was around 180 (maybe a girl?). Only a few more weeks and you will be able to hear the heartbeat everytime you go to the drs. Jo- Thanks! We chose Alexander for his middle name, we liked how they sounded together. |

Jo--You and I both!!LOL! I do wish that I knew what (if anything) is going on in there; but I am sure he won't do an internal. If my measurements are way different they may do an ultrasound. I think they can tell if you are dilating through u/s, too? Im leaving in a few minutes, I will let you all know how it goes, but I am not expecting anything too exciting. I am bouncing on the exercise ball while I type; anything is worth a shot! We are going to give Ely his grandfathers name (Robert), too. DH's dad passed away a few yrs ago, so we thought it would be nice to use his name.
Claire--I know that I was really nervous in the first tri, and then I read somewhere that your m/c chances drop DRAMATICALLY once they can see a hb. I think it drops by something like 80% (don't quote me on that, but I know it was surprisingly high). Did you get to hear it, too? I loved that first time hearing it; I agree with Jo, it is SO surreal! Im hedging my bets that you have a little blue bean in there! All of you girls who don't know gender yet, you should do the Chinese Gender Prediction chart. You can find it for free online. Mine said it would be a boy, and was right. I have a friend with four kids, and it was right everytime! Obviously it's not science, but still sort of fun. Ok, here I go, Ill post after my appt...(I am seriously wearing a tent today. Ugh) |

Thanks girls! I have called the Drs office and she said the same thing....keep on the progesterone and take it easy! It's just really hard after two losses in a row! KWIM? I have read so many conflicting things about dull, low back pain, that it makes my head swim! And I think at this point I notice every twinge or cramp! I think I just need to relax! Please keep your fingers crossed for a sticky bean! And thanks again for your advice!

I think I need to start making my messages shorter than what they have been...
Update: So I called the Dr. Office back and they said the doctor was overwhelmed and she still hasnt looked at her calendar yet, ...I ended up calling my regular doctor back for another referral. I will now be going to a male doctor but I feel more at east about seeing him since the orignal doctor I was referred to seems to be too busy to even look at her calendar for 3 whole days (3 days to MY knowledge at least).So....I got home last night and DH had 2 cases of Arrowhead Water for me...guess I wont be trying any Dasani until these 2 cases of water are gone...He also bought me some Lipton Iced Tea individual packets that you put in water...I think its Mango flavored or something like that. I just put the box in my purse. We shall see what happens... |

Ok here are the 3D ultrasound pics from last week. I can't stop looking at her cute little face and this makes me way more excited for her to hurry up and arrive.
![]() ![]() Haley-Welcome and congrats. Hope you have a great pregnancy. Scout-Hang in there. I know there is nothing that can ease your mind until you get to see your little one. Claire-I think the heartrate is fine. I think very early it starts out low and gets higher as you progress. Awesome that you finally got to see the little jelly bean. Just wait til you get a little farther along and you can actually see development. Even cooler! Krissy-Hope Ely is making some progress and hope the appt goes well. Hi Jo! |

Heidi--OMG, she is SO cute! She's even got some chubby little cheeks; no wonder you can't stop looking at them! I wish I had some 3D pic's of Ely, but hopefully I will be seeing him in color soon.
Ok, so here is my update (I'll try to keep it short). Baby's head is completely engaged in my pelvis, and pretty low, so that is really good. I guess I just didn't notice when he dropped because I was already carrying low, and also all the extra fluid. My uterus measured the same as last week, which is great. Now for the real news; Doc gave me a note to take full disability leave starting MONDAY. He can't believe I am still working so much, given the extra fluid and pressure. I don't know if I am really going to use the note, though. I mean, what am I going to do all day if I am not working? It just seems like a week or two at home could be depressing. I am going to call the dept. chair this afternoon and talk with her; I am pretty sure this would not effect my maternity leave, so maybe I should just stay home and get stuff ready? He also said that he is pretty sure he will see me at my next appt (Thursday), in other words, he doesnt think Ill have him before then. However, he said that he might do a pelvic exam next week if I continue having these belly pains. So, I guess I just take it one week at a time! Oh, and my blood pressure was good, so I guess I don't need to worry about that, yet. On a totally different note; I am hungry, but lately nothing seems good to snack on. So, today I bought a couple of pomegranites, and I highly recommend this as a healthy snack. I cut them in half, put them in a bowl of water to soften them up, and then just pulled them apart and took all the seeds out. I put the seeds in a bowl and stuck them in the fridge, and now they are cold and yummy and I can snack on them like popcorn (which I have given up due to the salt). For those of you who may be bored with food, they really are delicious. Yummm. |

Krissy- If the Dr told you to stay home and take it easy, I think that's a GREAT idea. I'm glad he's down there where he needs to be! Awsome! Yeah, I know the chance of m/c drops alot upon hearing the HB, (which we did get to hear!
Kanieka- Glad you got your water-eewww, sorry it's arrowhead-LOL. Just be careful about your caffiene with those iced tea singles. I'm SO happy you got a diff doc. I'm sure that'll work much better. Heidi- OMG she's so cute! Get a load of those little cheeks! That's so neat! Scout- It's really hard to relax, I completely understand. Hang in there . You should get a ticker going when you are ready |

Claire--I just looked it up, and what I found said that at 7 weeks anything from 110-180 is within normal range. It also said that at 6 weeks most heartrates are between 100-120, and continue to rise from their within the next month or so. I know that you will worry no matter what, but it sounds like even if your bean has a slightly low hb, you are still within normal limits. When is your next appt? Did DH go to this one with you (what was his reaction to hearing the hb?)

Claire - Yeah I am happy I got my water too BUT I wish I would have known he was going to the store because I would have had him get me Dasani.
As far as the Lipton Singles, I didnt even know there was caffeine in there until I looked at the bos. Its 12mg per serving and the serving size in one packet so looks like each packet has 24 mg caffeine. So I went to grab a can of coke (NO I didnt drink it of course but here is the caffeine of that. 34 mg per 12 ounces of coke. It seems like the tea is not AS bad as drinking coke but it still has a nice amount. Should I just stay away from these or have them in moderation? Im glad I got a different doctor too. I just need to call and make my appointment now. |

Krissy- I like those numbers! Thanks for looking that up for me. I tried online but had no luck. Yep, DH came with me. I think he was more excited than me about the HB, LOL. He told me that since the u/s tech said the HB was fine-then it must be and no worring about it. Nice try, right?
Kanieka- Yeah, you are supposed to "limit" your caffiene. I *think* all my PG books say the equivalent of the caff in 1 cup of coffee/day. But I'm not sure how many mg that is. |
|

|
Kanieka- Here is just one source I found with a quick google search off the march of dimes page:
"The March of Dimes recommends that women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant consume no more than 200 milligrams (mg) of caffeine per day (equal to about one 12-ounce cup of coffee a day). A new study has found that women who consume 200 mg of caffeine or more a day are twice as likely as women who consume no caffeine to have a miscarriage (1)." Now I went all nazi on myself and cut it out entirely. I just did that bc I figured if I needed 4 cups of coffee to function in the AM, then none was just as good as one. And then if I want chocolate (also has caff) or I'm in a situation where the only thing to drink has caff, I dont' have to worry. But that's just me. |
