Default October Preggo Chat

Stacey - That's a great link. I have an article about the initial 'finding' of Splenda. Apparently, it was originally made to be an insecticide/petsicide. The Agave Syrup really is good and Lisa's suggestion for Xylitol is good, too - just don't give anything to your dog that has Xylitol in it. Xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs. Also, do some more reading about flouride. It is NOT to be ingested. I avoid it at all costs.

As far as I know, Splenda is still OK in PG as far as the FDA is concearned. I know, the FDA is the right hand of Satan and all, but I gotta draw a line SOMEWHERE! I gave up caffeine and smoking and lost weight for this little bean, there's gotta be somewhere I can have something in moderation. I think I'm just bitter because I gave up caff totally so I could have some chocolate guilt-free and the thought of eating chocolate makes me wanna puke a little.

No Flouride? I thought one of my PG books said we needed that. Or was is calcium? Ow, my head hearts.

Speaking of things to freak out about, I just realized that the Omega 3 pills I was taking (although not religiously like the PNV) do NOT say "Mercury Free". Obviously I have switched (to the DHA supplement my RN reccommended) but still makes me nervous.

Jo- What's mastitis? Sounds scary

Kanieka- I too like the crystal light single servings-but I'm sure they are not sweetened with anything natural.

Kanieka- I just have to say, I'm with you on the water thing. I don't like it, never have. Last time I was pg, I couldn't drink water at all for somewhere around 10 weeks... I had a total taste aversion to it. This time, I'm mixing water and OJ together. In the morning, I do a 50/50 mix of it, and then each subsequent drink is less OJ/more water. Last time I was dehydrated a lot, and contracting all the time, so they were forcing water down me toward the end. The only way I would drink (and actually enjoy it) was in a styrofoam cup filled with ice.

I know we all get obsessed over what we should/shouldn't have, and it's enough to drive us insane. In my opinion, if I'm going to add anything, it is going to be regular juice (without high fructose corn syrup), just really diluted. In the end, I think regular old sugar is better than any of the other sweeteners. Our bodies are used to sugar, but the other stuff is all chemicals that our bodies aren't sure how to handle. I used to be a Splenda-holic until I started reading up on the stuff. Now I don't know what to choose, so I usually use sugar-in-the-raw for everything.

I use honey as a sweetener whenever I can, just because I know it's all natural and unprocessed. If you buy local honey, it is even supposed to help if you have allergies since the honey has bits of pollen from local plants in it. I know you aren't supposed to give infants honey, but there's no rule about not eating it while pg right?

My first dr appointment is tomorrow at 1pm. I've been feeling okay up until the last couple days. Does anyone remember being able to feel the top of their uterus at 10 weeks? I thought I could last time, and being a 2nd pg I thought I would feel it sooner, and there is nothing. It's making me super nervous. I'm just ready to get to the dr and see my bean and a hb.

Hello all,

So alot has happened in the last couple of days..Monday night I went to go take a shower and noticed some brownish colored blood on my undies..I thought it maybe a scratch or something..then I wiped and also found blood, so I freaked out. My first preganancy I never had any problems. Anyway, I went to the ER they did an internal ultra sound the tech said she could still see the sac in the uterus but the baby was too small to measure. So I came home I had no more bleeding or cramping the rest of the night. The next day I had my first prenatal oppt. Of course I told him all of this he went over information with me about miscarriages but told me the baby could still be fine and that he would do an ultrasound on tuesday to see if we can see the baby then. He was alittle upset that the health dept only done urine pg test and not blood work because he didn't have anything to measure my hcg results with. I have not bleed any since that night nor am I cramping.
So what do you all think? Should I prepare myself for a miscarriage??

Back - First, you need to get a ticker in your signature so we know how far along you are! Second, implantation isn't complete until about 6 weeks, so what you saw could have been from that. If you're not seeing any more blood or having any major cramping, you're probably okay. I think it's about 30% of all pregnancies have some type of bleeding/spotting.

Back-I had brownish discharge/spotting off and on until about 8-10 weeks. I think you're fine as long as it's not red blood and cramps.

Jen-I can't believe it's Oct. already too. I hope these next few weeks go really fast!

I forgot to mention that DH is finally letting me get someone to help us finish our bathroom. My friend's husband does remodeling and I've asked for his help this month to hopefully get it done before the baby. Let's hope it happens. And my mom actually is thinking clearly.......I have been concerned that both our parents live out of town and how that will be when the baby arrives. I really wanted us to have a few days at home on our own before Dh goes back to work. Well my mom must have realized it and said they would like to come for the birth of the baby but go back home and then she'll come back later to help me! I couldn't believe it. I feel relieved that I don't have to tell them to possibly get a hotel and think this will work well for us. Now hopefully his parents won't try to invade as well. I know everyone is excited and we want everyone to share in the experience but we also want our privacy.

back- where did you get your ticker from? When the "7 lines" thing happened to me, it was because I had too much extra space below and above the blinkies/sigge. Try deleting everything in the siggie space and make sure the cursor is at the very top. HTH. I've talked to many girls who've had some level of brown spotting and been fine-hang in there!

Sarah- I totally agree about driving myself nuts. eeewww, watered-down juice? LOL. That's a good point about the sugar-in-the-raw.

Back - When you create your ticker you will be given a few different options to copy. You want the one that says for BB based forums. Copy that and paste it in your signature. Just make sure you copy the entire thing.

Red face not sure where to put this question?

Ok girls...I am new to this. I don't post much, but do read! I just found out that I am pregnant again. (5w1d today). Here's the deal. I have had two miscarriages prior to this pregnancy and I am scared to death! I have had the normal roung ligament pain but my lower back is achy. Most people would blow this off, but that's how my other miscarriages started. Is there anything that I can do to easy my mind? The doctor started me on progesterone suppos. and a baby aspirin. Do you guys think these are still OK??

Scout--Good luck; I hope you got a sticky bean in there. I would try not to worry too much; it won't help anyways.

Back--A lot of people have bleeding early on, and it sounds like they are seeing what they should be seeing at this point. Try not to worry.

Heidi--Yay for the bathroom project! We called and told everyone that we are not allowing houseguests the first few weeks. We just decided that no one could get too mad at us if we told them before it got much closer, and so they are all getting hotel rooms. It is sort of akward, but I think they will understand. It is your time to get to know eachother as a new family, and it is important that you feel comfortable.

Jen--Ditto! I can't believe it is Oct---my due month! Wow...

Hi everyone else! So, I have a dr appt tomorrow (nothing exciting, he doesnt do internals). Last night I had my first labor dream. I dreamt that I went into labor on the 9th, so I am hoping that comes true! It would be neat; his birthday would be 10-9-8! Unfortunately, in my dream I had a c-section, so I hope that doesnt come true! He seems to have flipped back into his original position (after two weeks of summersaults), so I am ready to go!!!!!!!!

Claire- mastitis is a breast infection. Engorgement can lead to mastitis. You have to take an antibiotic to get rid of it. It is like a clogged breast duct. Clogged with bacteria.

Apparently my breast was just engorged and needed to be emptied. It got hard and lumpy. I put a warm compress on it but that didn't help so Dominic luckily woke up at that time and nursed on that side and it went away. I then pumped to empty it and he worked on the other side. I find that at night I get fuller than in the day. I think it's b/c he grazes all day and has short naps in between. I heard that three weeks is a growth spurt period, so that may be why he feeds more often.

I went to Party City and got Annabelle a costume. She is going to be Princess Leia and Dominic will be Yoda. I am making his costume. Hopefully it turns out all right. I'll take a photo of Annabelle all duded up. It's hilarious!!

Scout-welcome to the pg side. It sounds like normal pg ailments to me especially since you are taking progesterone supplements, but you have every reason to worry, I understand. Like Alison said, just think positively...hopefully it's your little bean getting settled. Sticky vibes!!

So I am a little slow...

I went to September Preggo Chat and I saw that it was closed and I didnt understand why...it took me a few minutes and then I realized that perhaps there was a new thread for October...Indeed it is...ha ha ha

Crystal - thank you for sharing the coupons...I got them earlier today...I have no need to buy diapers at the moment BUT I will be sure to save them.

Claire - Its so funny because customer service is soooo important to me and to see how I am treated is RIDICULOUS! You are correct...customer service isnts a real priority...why cant people think like us?

I have to say that my small stomach was NOT so small today...I had the chicken tostada from El Pollo Loco and I ate the ENTIRE thing (except the bottom part of the tostada shell) but I think it was because I didnt have breakfast so my stomach was really hurting by the time lunch came around. I know that is something that I need to work on though...eating breakfast...I can sometimes go without eating breakfast but I dont think that is the best thing to do. I dont always want those big breaksfasts though...maybe I will stop at the store tonight and get some fruits and yogurts...SOMETHING...As far as the single Crystal Lights, Im sure they are sweetened with nothing natural also...

Claire AND Rac - My mom is a Dasani freak also! I guess I will give them a try...they ARE manufactured by my FAVORITE soda...COCA COLA...ha ha ha....I will let you know what I think...

RAC - I remember trying Fiji a while back but I dont remember if I liked it or not (I think I did) but I do remember it being pretty pricey...Dasani is more in my budget.

Jen - My mom has told me about the Crystal Light but I have yet to try it...shes been trying to get me to drink water for the longest...she LOVES water...me on the other hand, I am NOT fond of it at all. DH LOVES water also...hes been trying to get me to drink it forever too...as far as the soda goes, I love soda PERIOD but I would like to get that out of my system...I did it before and I am sure that I can do it again. With Coke, I just love it AND thats what they provide here at work: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite...that is unless you choose to go and buy a soda from somewhere on the premises.

Bugaboo - I actually have some of those kool aid packages...it seems like thats cheating though since Kool Aid has so much sugar...its like colored sugar water...I will look into the flavored waters...Im not sure I will like them but I am willing to try it all! I hope to develop a "relationship" with water. I know that it is something that I need so I will be trying my best to do right. Its a challenge but I am sure up for it!

Romasposa - I should try Ethos too...Im just scared that I will have Frappacino withdrawls if I go into Starbucks.

Mom3Girls - I have tried the Vitmain Waters and I am not fond of them...maybe I will try to Sobe Life Water too...

Im so excited about all these water suggestions......Makes me wanna go out and try them all in one evening!

Sarah - I have never heard of mixing water and juice besides for a baby...at least you know how you will drink it though...I have yet to figure all of these things out. I agree with you on sugar too...and I am already driving myself crazy on what and what NOT to eat, drink, etc. DH is even worst...He stays on top of me...thats for sure. Every night I get home, I get asked the same questions (if he hasnt already asked me throughout the day)...what did you eat?...Did you drink water and how much? Have you taken your vitamin today? Its funny but cute at the same time. This should be a very interesting PG.

Bugaboo - My brother was born 10-9.....

On to other things, this morning I felt really terrible! I dont know if its morning sickness at this point or if was my prenatal vitamins affecting me. I have been taking the vitamins since Saturday night. The past two nights I didnt eat anything afterwards. Yesterday I was fine but today was a different story which makes me wonder if this is morning sickness.

Any input of this?
