A c-section is not really all that bad. I had a spinal block for the surgery then afterwards i didn't have any pain meds because they all made me vomit. in fact i vomitted all during the c-section from the morphine they gave me the night before. anyway george had taken his weeks vacation that week but he wasn't any help cause he was scared to death of the baby. but i managed okay.

Krissy- I would read up on the castor oil. Apparently there is a chance that Ely could have a bowel movement in the amniotic fluid which is bad if he inhales it.
Heidi and back- My DH is so calm about labor and the baby. I know its fake. I'm just not sure which one is gonna be the freak-out. |

Yeah, I looked up the cohosh online, too. I really wanted to do it; but there were a LOT of warnings about hemmoraging. It is so scary, but so is medical induction...
Amber--I am aware of the risks of castor oil, which is why I haven't taken it yet. My doctor and midwife both told me that it can start labor, and usually also results in a fast labor. They also advised that I not do it on a weekend. Apparently, because of the diarhea and vomiting that often occur with castor oil, they don't want me to do it at a time when the birthing center is already low on staff. The risks are probably still smaller than the risks of pitocin. He is already at pretty high risk of having a bowel movement just because he is post date, so I am scared to do anything that could speed that up. Apparently ANY medication that they give you can do the same thing, though, depending on how the baby reacts to it. I don't know, I am scared about everything, but I am also desperate. It is nice that DH is "acting" calm; mine is the same way, I am so curious to see if that changes once we are in the delivery room! |

It's all so scary. I think my head would pop if Graham was so overdue. It's like everything has a scary side effect. I'm thinking my dh is gonna break down the first time the baby gets super fussy and i'm not there to do anything because i'm in the shower or something. Hopefully i'm wrong and he copes well.

Well, I am not in labor, but I am on my way to the hospital. I have been seeing spots for the last few hours; it is like I was staring at the sun and then looked away. I called the midwife, and she told me to come in for a non stress test since visual disturbances are a sign of pre-eclampsia. If you don't hear back from me, they may induce me if it looks like I am developing pre eclampsia. I will try and keep you posted.

Well, they tested my blood and urine and it was fine, took my bp and it was fine, and did a non stress test. All looked fine. I puked my guts out the entire time I was there, so they think I have the flu or a very bad migraine. They sent me home and told me to try and sleep as much as possible. I feel AWFUL. As if being 12 days overdue wasn't miserable enough; I also got the flu! Ugh. I am going to sleep now. Goodnight.
