Cole-Not much longer. I hope though you find some comfort and rest before the little guy comes.
FYI for anyone interested- We purchased a $20 doppler from BRU this weekend. Not knowing that it is recommended for 3rd trimester until we got home. But figured what the hell I'd give it a try. It took a little time but I was able to hear the baby's heart beat last night. Sounds just like it does when they do it at the doctor's office. However, it was harder to pick up and had to really listen for it. But once I found it you could definitely tell. It was great just to sit there listening for a little while. |

Cole--Not much longer! Hope you get some good news at your appt.
Heidi--I rented a real doppler around wk 11, and just sent it back (heartbeatsathome.com) I loved having the assurance, and I was thinking of getting one of the ones that you are talking about at BRU, as well. I asked a few people, and here was their warning; if you can't pick up the babies heartbeat with it: Don't freak out! Apparently, and obviously by how cheap they are; they are not a real piece of medical equipment and can only find the heart if the baby is in certain positions. I still think it is worth it, but am passing on the warning that you might not always be able to find the heartbeat, so try not to worry if that happens. The woman who told me that had a very high risk pregnancy, and said that she had to stop using it because it was scaring her so much when it wouldnt pick up the heartbeat. Again, I still think I will get one, and I am happy that it worked for you this early! Has everyone been busy, or are there just not that many of us left? Seems like the site has been less active than a month or two ago? Hopefully we get some more BFP's soon. Gail--How are things going? |

Krissy-I forgot to respond to your question about the bassinet. Yes, Avery liked it! She was only 6lbs when she was born so was in it for 4 months or so (we had it in the living room for naps), but I loaned it to a friend who gave it back after a couple of months because her baby outgrew it so fast, lol.

Krissy-They do put that right in with their stuff that you should not be concerned if you don't pick up the heartbeat and basically said it would be a little harder. So I didn't freak out about it. I was just patient and laid on the bed for away in the quiet listening for it. I also kind of started in the general area that the nurses have picked it up onthe doppler at their office and sure enough that's where I finally heard it at. I figure for $20 even if I only get to hear it a few times it'll be worth it. Hopefully if you buy one you'll have luck too. But as your friend probably told you and you mentioned it definitely isn't a high tech piece of medical equipment, hence why it only cost $20.
I agree we need some more activity over here. Hopefully we'll see some more BFP this month. |

Well....nothing is going on. He did an internal last night & could hardly even feel my cervix. He said it was still high & posterior, so he couldn't tell if I was dialating or thinning or anything. I left the office feeling like I wanted to cry. I know I still have 2 weeks left, but I was hoping for some news! I have yet another appt. next Tues., so in the mean time, I'll just have to keep over-analyzing every twinge & cramp & feeling of something leaking.

Oh, Cole! It's so hard. Maybe this will make you feel better. My SIL had her baby 10 days early. The day before she delivered she went to her dr and he told her that she had NO progress - no dilation, thinning, or anything. The next day she went to the hospital and when she got there she was alreay dilated to a 10 and ready to push! Things can change over night, but no matter what that baby WILL be here soon! Hang in there! We're here for you!

Thanks everyone for the reassuring thoughts & good wishes.... I know I'm just being a baby about this whole thing, but it's just that it's so much more uncomfortable this time around! Plus, the weather here is supposed to hit the 90's this week & be rainy, which means humidity, which means swelling...Ugh! Thanks for listening to me b**tch!
Heidi - that is so cool that you got a doppler for $20...even if it takes a little longer to find the h/b, it's got to be reassuring...and I'm sure it'll get easier as you get farther along! Jenna - that is reassuring! Thanks!! (she got to a 10 before getting to the hosp.??!!? WOW! She must have a high tolerance for pain!! ) |
