Jo--Hope you have fun at your shower and get lots of cute stuff!

Jen or Heidi? Can't remember, but one of you mentioned "stalking" your registry. Well, since our shower is Thursday, I decided I would look at ours. Only 2 things were purchased!! I sure hope that people are just forgetting to take the registry thing up to the counter (which I always do). Otherwise, we may be getting a wide assortment of stuff that we don't need. We are sort of broke right now, and dealing with this storm damage, so I hope we at least get some of the things we registered for

My MIL is still here; I guess they are staying for another night. I felt like a schmuck yesterday b/c I had to leave Jazz Fest earlier than them, but I have strep throat and I just felt awful. I think she thinks I am just being a weenie. Oh, well, I guess you can't please everyone, and the babies health is more important than her approval. Still, it would be nice. . .

Heidi-What ever happened with your SIL dilemma?

Krissy - I am currently stalking my registry. Alot of people wait until the last minute, so don't worry too much! There are 4 days left to buy stuff at lunch & evenings. Sorry you're still not feeling well. Rest up!

Krissy-I stalk my registry too but its not completely done yet. My mom and I are going back this coming weekend to add to it. But I also stalked for our wedding registry. I think Jen is right that people always wait til the last minute. And hopefully if you do get things that aren't on there you'll get the gift receipt to return it. Awesome pictures of Ely!

As for the SIL drama I think it has been settled. She got laid off (took a voluntary lay off for 4-6 weeks) which didn't make DH happy. So he understands that she is still up to her old tricks of not really wanting to work. She'd rather sit at home collecting unemployment. We were at the ILs this weekend and they are fully expecting for her to have to move back up there with them if grandma does go through with getting rid of the house. So I think it will be a non issue. What I did find interesting though is his mom never once asked anything about the baby, our plans, showers etc. other than if we had names picked out. And she spent 4-5 hours with me while DH was golfing with his dad. They are very strange to me as my family is all over asking us stuff and wanting to know. How are things going with the repairs to the house?

Jo-Hope you enjoyed your shower.

Hi Amber and Snowie.

Krissy-You're right, he is a handsome little guy!

Kristy-The saline lock does ring a bell. I think I remember my dr saying something about that if I wanted to walk during labor.

Jo-How was your shower?

Bina-Aww, you're so sweet! Thank you!

Heidi-I'm glad things with SIL have settled and you won't have to deal with her after all.

Hey girls! Happy Monday!! DH and I had a wonderful last shower. It was his family shower and they did it in true family fashion.

We had a big Italian lunch/dinner and visited and laughed a lot and then opened the gifts. Then we took a break for some good old Italian Cream Cake and/or Tiramisu, followed by the children guessing how many squares of tp would fit all the way around me without going over. We got a guess of 2 (how nice) all the way up to 30!! For the record, it was 10.

I love his family. We are fortunate in that we all get along. They were all very close growing up and all the "outside" spouses are made to feel as if they are family, too. It's never uncomfortable.

I got a lot of good stuff, but only about 4 things off of my registry. So today I am heading to BRU to get the last minute must haves. I'll let ya know how much that all comes to!

We gave Annabelle a bath last night and this is her after the initial dry-off. She always goes nuts, running around the house. It's too funny!!

Jo- It sounds like your shower was really fun! Glad you got good stuff & hope you don't have to spend too much at BRU. I love the video of Anabelle. My dogs do the same thing after a bath - so cute!!

Heidi - Very glad to hear that the SIL situation was settled without anymore drama.

Snowie - How are you feeling today?

We took our baby classes this weekend - the Lamaze one on Sat & the Newborn care on Sunday. I know we took them a little early, but they were the only dates that worked for us. Both were helpful & DH surprised me several times...I think he actually learned some things! He was very supportive during the relaxation section & it made me feel better about how he will handle labor (I really had no idea what he thought it would be like). the labor part itself was a little scary, and it was my first birthing video, but I guess I need to know, right?

Hormones are kicking in - Yesterday I went from good mood to major b*itch in about 10 seconds, all b/c of a question from the cashier at the grocery. & all she asked me was if I had any produce! Then the kid bagging the groceries put my ice cream in the same bag with crackers & I snapped at him. It took me a couple hours to settle down. I'm crazzzzzzy! Yikes - I hope this doesn't continue.

Shower question-
What are you guys doing for hostess gifts? My showers will be in September and I want to start working on those while I have time. I need 2 for friends and then my sister, mom and grandma I want to do some thing for either throwing the shower or helping us purchase our furniture.

Heidi- For my first shower I got my friend, who loves "Sex and the City", 2 really nice martini glasses from Crate and Barrel and then bought her a Classy Cosmopolitan mix from a store we have here called Swoozies. Check it out online! Swoozies-Welcome Very cool stuff.

For my second shower, just Sunday, I got DH's cousin, who has a one year old and a three year old, a variety of pampering lotions and sprays from Sephora. I put it all in a cute container with a tag that read, "from my shower to yours!"

It's always best to think of something that they are interested in and see what you can come up with. DH put it best: get them something that they would like to have but would never spend that much money on. It will be a splurge for them to enjoy.

Amber- they have seasonal stuff that changes frequently. They are a bit expensive, but they always have cute things that are original. They also have a great variety of stationary, invitations and thank you cards.

Now I will tell you, from experience, they just switched embroidery companies and this one takes them like a week-14 days to get their orders finished up! Hopefully by now they have figured things out a little better and it doesn't take THAT long. Just an FYI if you want to get something embroidered. Place your order early!

Jo - I didn't know TX had a Swoozies. I went to one in Atlanta a couple weeks ago & loved it. I'll have to send my mom there, since she lives in Dallas.

Any suggestions for couples shower gifts? Of the two couples hosting, one is married, one is not (& they don't live together yet). I'd rather not get gift certificates....
