Default HCG Levels

Ok was wondering if anyone has been through this......... As some of you may remember me from other posts, I M/C Dec 27th. I now am pregnant again. Because I am not sure where my cycle is I am not sure of the actual conception date. I had Blood work done yesterday because my hometests were so faintly positive that I wasn't sure. I called my OB today and they daid that my HCG level was 9.2 which is very low and so they want to check it again in a week.
So I am just worried, is this really a preganancy does it start this low? i know I am paranoid since I miscarried, just wondering if anyone can relate with this?
Thank you.

Ang - I never got my beta numbers, so I can't help from personal experience, but I can give you a little "textbook" knowledge.

5 and under is considered not pregnant. Over 5 is considered pregnant. So since we all started out under 5, we'd have to be at the 9-ish level at some point in the pregnancy.

Since you don't know your dates, it's possible that you are just really early in the pregnancy, and your beta just hasn't had time to get higher yet.

Good luck to you!! I hope the beta next week shows good numbers!

After my m/c I had my HCG done 2 days apart. It is to double in 48 hours. Gosh I don't think I could have waited a week. I would ask your doctor to re-do the test 48 hours from the 1st one. Then you will have your answers!!

My 1st hcg was only 18 that was 2 days after my period was due. I had a test done 2 days later and it went up. I agree with Judith maybe they can do the test sooner than a week.

Thanks everyone, yeah it is going to drive me crazy till next tuesday. I was reading up on-line and saw that 5 and under is negative, but that under 25 is equivacol they call it. I guess my OB thinks that I am just so early that she wants to wait the week. I don't know how quickly things should start doubling, I have read everyone is really different. I'll keep you all posted, thanks for the well wishes. All I know is I am definatley exhibiting signs, like the fatigue, breast soreness and fullness, feel like I have to eat regularly and urinary frequency. I am just nervous I guess just having had a miscarriage now.

I wish you the best of luck! I know all numbers start at 1 or 2 and double every other day, so I agree with Judith too, I would request the test to be taken 48 hours later to see if the numbers double.

My hcg number was in the sixties when I was tested at 4 wks 1day, but they really do stress to not compare numbers. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
