Thanks girls for all the midwife help! I would love the midwife at a hospital...that would be awesome, but would you have to pay the fees for both? (I guess probably so if they weren't associated with the hospital...well shoot, even if they are associated with the hospital I am sure it would cost an arm and a leg!) I'll check into it tho!
Kayla ~ I think Ashlyn is just letting you rest for the BIG DAY! |

Manda-Thank you!
Cristina-Thank you! Me too! And how sad about Rissa. Kayla-I agree, maybe Ashlyn is preparing you for her grand entrance into the world! How warly are you supposed to be able to hear the baby's heartbeat via the doppler?

I looked at Rissa's chart and I'm not sure that she lost this baby, or if the charts just not updated. Her chart says that she is TTC#1 after losing an ectopic pg - that happened before she got pg w/ this one. Also, it says she is engaged, soon to be stepmom, - remember that she got married on the 4th of July or something. I hope that her info is just not updated and that everything went well w/ this pg and she's holding her beautiful baby girl.

Hello Ladies!!
Ant - I am renting a Doppler from BabyBeats.com it is $25.00 per month and so worth the $ after a loss!! I use it each morning and night. It is just nice to have that piece of mind! Angel - I think I heard the h/b about 9 1/2 - 10 weeks at the dr. office then I got my home doppler shortly after that. Rissa - I too hope you have a healthy baby! Hmmm, what else did I read? Oh the midwife talk. Around here some go w/ a midwife. My SIL had one and she didn't really do all that well w/ her. She needed a c-section and the m/w was still trying to get her to deliver normally. And the m/w wasn't up for administering drugs and my SIL wanted them. However, I'm sure there are just as many positive stories as neg. as with everything. I think the other girls are right...it just depends who you are comfortable with. Val - I think I get my u/s a bit earlier b/c I had a twin preganancy and they want to see where that is all at before I get too far along. My dr. said that I may have more depending what they see. Hopefully everything is normal. I don't know if we will find out the sex or not. |

Good Morning and Happy New Years Eve!!!!!! Well, I just found out that my friend delivered her baby on the 26th. She was 28 weeks. About a week and a half ago, she was diagnosed with mild pre-eclampsia and put on bedrest. Well, she was admitted to the hospital on Christmas eve with severe pre-eclampsia and given meds to try to keep her pregnant, but ended up having an emergency c-section on the 26th. He is 2 lbs. 2.6 oz and 14 3/4 in long. The amazing thing is, he has been breathing on his own from day 1. She said that he is going to be transferred out of the critical nicu to a step up, but will be in the hospital until Feb. or March. Please say a few prayers that he keeps growing stronger each day and they have no complications along the way.

val- that is actually a good size baby for 28 weeks. my thoughts are with her and her baby
dana- my first ob had midwifes there and they came to the hospital with you. they were alittle more personable and were women, which was my big thing. but i had to swicth and leave them. i have felt like crap the past few days. i have had this pain around my belly button. the dr's and nurses at work say not to worry because i grew in the last week so its just growing pain. we've listened to the heartbeat a few times a day though just out of being scared. then i came down with a cold and i have a nasty sore throat (probably from a post nasal drip) and i ran out of all my sinus meds. i went to the gift shop at work the other day to get some and they are closed till the 2nd. i have a drs apt on the 3rd so hopefully he can tell me what to do to spead recovery up. hope everyone else is doing well OMG only two days till the half way mark!!! this has flown by up to this point Last edited by princesscd22 : 12-31-2007 at 11:11 AM. |

Crystal - I've had that belly button pain recently too. Mine is like a sharp pain right around my belly button. The other girls here told me it was a growing pain. We are at the time we are going to start to really grow!!
Somedays that is good somedays I think that is bad. |

Snowie ~ I bought my doppler at 10 and a half weeks and heard it from the beginning, but it did take some time for me to perfect my "skills" lol and find it quickly.
Val ~ Wow what a scary Christmas for your friend. That is amazing how well the little guy is doing. I hope all continues to go smoothly! He sounds like a fighter. Crystal and Dana ~ I had the belly button pain ALOT around that time too. My tummy (and my mom's too, she told me) doesn't have the linea nigra pigmentation, but if you look closely there is a pigmented ring around my bellybutton, hehe like someone put a glass on my belly while I was laying down and forgot to use a coaster (sp?)! My sinuses have been bugging me BAD too....YUCK! Dani ~ Don't forget that 14 week belly pic girl! I hope you are all right about Ashlyn's appearance.......*SOON* I hope!

Just popping in to say its great to see so many preggos! Hopefully I'll be back again on this side again soon.
Dani-I didn't read all your posts, just something about a midwife and possibly home birth? I have a friend due in March who is using a midwife that delivers at home, birthing centers, hosptials etc. My friend is having a home birth though. Her experience with a midwife so far sounds wonderful, makes me want to rethink the OB route. |

Kayla- Let the countdown begin for you! It could be any day now! I can't wait!! Then I'm next!
Snowie-I heard Rylan's h/b with the doppler we rented at 10 weeks. They said on the site you might be able to hear as early as 8 weeks though. Val- Your friend and her baby are in my thoughts. Thats good news that the baby is getting moved up though. Crystal- Hope you get feeling better, I have had the worst sinus headaches for the last 2 days. Yeah to alomost 1/2 way there!! Jo-I want some pickles now too! LOL! Happy new years eve everyone!! |

He He.....I had pickles with lunch and I intend to eat more tonight at my Aunt's house.
I too have had sinus headaches almost everyday for about a month and a half now. My OB said it's probably the dry heat in our house and to use a humidifier and saline spray. Wow Kayla~ If you were me when I was preggers with Dylan, Ashlyn would be 2 days old already. You are very close.......AAAAHHHHHH the anticipation!!!!!!!!!
