Don't cover her up just for our eyes. Pretty soon we'll all be butt naked in front of complete strangers. And not just our cute Simpson's cartoon selves.
Krissy- I hope it means something. Only 10 more days. AAAGGGGHHHH!! I'm ready already! Let's get it going before I chicken out and decide I can't do it naturally. Breathe in for baby, breathe out for tension. Breathe in for baby, breathe out for tension. I heard a cute acronym today and I'm going to try to think of it anytime any of the nurses or doctors yell, PUSH! Pray Until Something Happens That will be my mantra. |

Jo-You going to post us one last belly shot?
Heidi--You are right; no wonder I have felt SO huge throughout the pregnancy! I had gallons of extra fluid in there! I am measuring at 37 weeks, and I think I LOOK 37 weeks! I have the biggest belly in my class (though I am at least not the biggest person Speaking of my class; last night she asked us how many people knew what they were having and about 3/4 of the class raised their hands. Then she asked how many were having a girl; NO ONE raised their hands! A whole class full of boys! What is this, the year of the boy!? Heidi is the ONLY person I know of who is having a girl right now; I have a ton of pregnant friends and it's all boys. Anyone else noticing this trend, or is it just coincidental? |

I was recently told by an "old-timer" that if you look throughout history at the birth stats, during times of war, there were more boys born that year. It's like it is to make up for the men who are dying in the war or something. I haven't checked it out, but that is weird...

That is wierd about the boys!
Jo--I was just reading about the "niggles", or some of the things that often happen within a few days of labor. The article I am reading says that for many women the following things commonly happen within a few days of active labor: "You get 'tightenings' which feel like contractions for several days before going into labour, the tightenings can feel painful, or just annoying, they come 15-20 minutes apart for a few hours a day, they do not progress (your cervix does not dilate to 3cm or more)." It goes on to say that if you think you are having bh very close to your due date, try to get some sleep, because it may be a sign that your close to labor. Apparently those bh can be what you feel when your body is getting baby into a better birthing position, thinning out the top of your vagina or cervix, and maybe even beginning dilation. I don't know if this is what's happening with you, but it sounded hopeful! |

Thanks, Krissy. At my u/s this week the tech did say that my cervix has shortened since last week, so I know something is going on in there. My doctor will check me for the first time on Monday. My sister has a "feeling" that this weekend will be it. My mom is still in RI, so let's hope for her sake (and her sanity) that she is able to be here for it. She'd really be uspet to miss Dominic's grand debut!

Jo-It is such a pain isn't it? If I wasn't preggo I probably wouldn't be as worried because I could get right in there and do the spray and take care of business. But I just don't want to mess around with it and deal with it. The woman at Terminex assured me their product is safe and no fumes. She said it is used in hospitals, day cares and nursing homes.
May be over the weekedn those BH will turn into true contractions! |

jo-I love this: PUSH! Pray Until Something Happens. That is perfect!
In my son's nursery school class last year, there was 5 boys and only 2 girls. It was the same with all 5 classes, the boys out weighed the girls. I know it has been a long time since I have been able to buy a girl baby gift. Just about everyone I know has had a boy for the last 2 years. |

Krissy, they can put the catheter in and not give you any medication however it has a chance of occluding and not working so most will not do that. Plus they would probably keep you confined to bed. As long as your ob waits to break your water until Ely's head is well applied to your cervix you would probably be okay. Keep us posted on your sono next week!
Jo, how exciting!!! |

I'm still here and preggo, but where on earth is everyone else? Jen's in Mexico but what about all you other lovely preggos?
I continue to have some BH off and on throughout the day. Nothing regular. This morning I had one with back and leg pain, so maybe they are beginning to become real? I've only had one and that's why I'm up so early on a Saturday typing this. I'm going to see if there is another one and if so, if there is a pattern that begins to appear. Not getting my hopes up...I wouldn't know if I was in labor unless God made laboring women glow neon orange throughout the process. I'm THAT afraid to miss the signs!! I'm falling back on what Snowie said: you'll know the difference. I'll keep you posted! |

Good morning Jo-Hoping that those BH turns into something for you. I cna't wait for little Dominic to arrive and to see pictures of him. This is so exciting how close you are.
I'm so happy that DH got home last night after being out of town for work since Sunday! I feel like we have limited weekends together with showers and other stuff going on that I'm looking forward to just relaxing with him. |

Hey Girls!
Heidi - sorry about the darn bees, it is hard to do anything yourself, i know, if I wasn't PG rith now, i would be outside painting CJ's dresser for her new room....but not with the fumes! Hope the bees are all taken care of. Jo - you are getting so close! I never went into labor with CJ, but I did do a natural M/C ( at 12 weeks along), and if it is like that was, you WILL KNOW, it was PAINFUL, and that baby was only 3 inches long! Krissy - I know this is hard, but try not to get too worked up, just follow Dr. s orders and know that when the time comes whenever that time may be, the Dr.s will do what is best for you and the baby's health, and that is the first priority. I think we all get a bit too hung up on the "perfect birth experience" and forget that we really can't totally control what will happen, and we have to let go and let God, so to speak. I will say I had Pregnancy induced hypertension with CJ from 6 months on, and was on bedrest, and then she was having unfavorable NSTs at the 38 week point, and we knew she had her cord around her neck from the ultrasounds. When you get complications liek that, you forget about your perfectly planned birth, and you just want your baby out safe. I was scared to death, and the Dr. gave me the choice of induction or c-section, now I had been one of the ones who was leaning toward natural labor and delivery, but I jumped for the c-section, because I wanted that little girl out safely, and with the least stress on her/danger to her. Good thing I did too, she had the cord wrapped 3 TIMES around her neck, and they even had a hard time getting her out of the incision, she was determined to stay in!!!! Also, let me also say, that I was scared about the recovery from the surgery, and my mom and aunt had both had c-sections, and that was what I was basing it on - but that was 20+ years before mine - they have come a LONG WAY, Baby. It was not even HALF as bad as I thought it would be! I was awake through the whole thing and DH was there too, and they started at 3:30, Cj was out at 3:52, and I was in our room and holding/nursing her by 5:00. I was up and walking and peeing on my own the next morning, and only using Ibuprophen for pain the next morning, onward. Took two days to poop, but it wasn't horrible, as there was no tearing "down there". Anyway, a c-section is not the end of the world. I know you are worried about possible reasons why - have they mentioned anything about the lost twin being a possible contributing factor?? I hope everything is fine! Jess |
