Jen-Have a great vacation!

Amber-I would say suck it up and just extend the invite. I have the same issues with my MIL that they aren't doing a shower with that side of the family and feel that's how it should be. But since they aren't I have invited them to one of mine to play nice. Don't want to but it for the most part keeps the peace.

Krissy-Thinking of you and little Ely.

Well, I am going to post really quick here, and also in the other thread I started. I went to the doc, and I have polyhydramnios. It pretty much means that I have too much amniotic fluid. I am pretty freaked out b/c they do not know WHY at this point; it can be caused by a lot of scary stuff, or it could just be abnormal. I go Tuesday for a repeat ultrasound and they are going to check and see if everything is ok with all of his organs and stuff. They will need to see me weekly and keep an eye on it. If it gets to be too much, it could collapse my lung(s), so they may need to remove some of it. I'm really scared, but I guess I just have to wait until Tuesday when we will hopefully get more info.

Jo--Any signs???

Jess--I now get up EVERY HOUR to pee. Apparently his head is on my bladder; maybe it's a comfy pillow? I haven't been able to sleep well through the entire pregnancy. Someone bought me a "guided relaxation" cd, and it kind of did help. It was called "Earth Mama Angel Baby" sleep cd. The woman just talks you through falling asleep. Unfortunately, it doesnt keep me asleep.

Jen--Have fun on your trip!

Amber--I would invite her. I only had one shower, that my sister threw, and I went ahead and invited MIL. She is going to be a part of my sons life, so I feel like she should be at the shower. Unfortunately you don't really get to pick your in laws, but I think not inviting her might start a bigger argument than you want.

I was afraid everyone would say that but after today I'm going to anyway.

We went out to lunch and she had mentioned wanting to buy Grahams dresser so on a whim I said lets go to K-mart(I think Krissy mentioned her awesome deals there?).

To summarize she ended up getting us the dresser with the removable changing table piece on top and a glider. The glider is the same one Krissy posted awhile back but its honeycolored wood with sage cushions to match the bedding!!!! EEK! Oh and this means we have furnished our nursery for under $450 total!!!!

Amber--How exciting!! Love the dresser! Obviously I love the glider; I sit in mine all the time already, it is So comfortable! Are you and DH buying a house, renting, ??? What's it like? I am so excited for you!

Jess--If you are dying to hear the heartbeat (I know I was), you can rent a doppler online. I rented one from a place called heartbeats at home? (or something like that) And I know there is also a place called Tummy Tickles. Mine was $25 per month. I figured it was well worth it, especially before I could feel the baby moving, at least I could hear him and that put my mind at ease.

Well, against my better judgement I did some internet research, and of course further freaked myself out. I am especially worried about my birth plan. Because of the increased risk of cord prolapse or placental abruption, I am afraid that they will not let me up much during labor, and I don't think I can possibly avoid drugs if I can't even move through the contractions. I hope this doesnt result in a c-section. I will have a LOT of questions for the doc on Tuesday. At least we will get to see him again.

Krissy - Yeah there is no way to labor without drugs and not move. The worst part of labor for me was being in the car. I was telling DH I wanted out of the car and wanted him to pull over. He locked the door when I said that. lol I think next time I will get in the back of the car so I don't have to sit and I won't worry about the stupid seat belt. I am curious to see what your doctor says.

Krissy- Calm down. The internet is full of horror stories, and at this point none of it applies to you. Ely is ok and you are too, don't freak yourself out, it's not good for either one of you. I don't blame you at all for being panicked but if you keep yourself keyed up like this you're gonna exhaust yourself. You are just like my best friend and i'm not driving 3 hours to whack her upside the head when she worries herself sick, so don't make me do it to you. Smile. That's an order. *hugs*

Meanwhile we were on the verge of buying but decided to hold off(if DH scores a decent job we are outta here) and are moving into an apartment but for us it's the biggest thing EVER! It's in a great part of town, and really big and open so I am more than happy.

Krissy, I would just take one thing at a time right now. Get through your appt on Tuesday and then see what he says than about your birth plan. I am praying that everything is just fine, that this is just a fluke thing

Thank you everyone. I know I am extra freaked. It is just difficult; I have to go to Lamaze tonight and be excited about a birth that I am terrified to think about. I just keep reminding myself that I am BARELY suffering from this at this point; I have too much fluid, but on a scale of "too much", I am towards the bottom. Hopefully it doesnt go up by Tuesday, and it just stays at this point from here on out. Incidentally, I can't find a single thing online saying what percentage of women with this end up with a c-section or induction. I am dying to know; but I guess I will have to wait until Tuesday. Aaah, what a long weekend this will be!

Amber--The apartment sounds great; you will have to post pic's once you move in!

You sound much better now. Just remember even if you don't have your perfect birth you WILL have your perfect little boy, and THAT is what matters.

Yes Ma'am, there will certainly be pics. I'm gonna go camera crazy. I wanna remember everything.

Krissy- I LOVE what Amber said and can't agree more: "even if you don't have your perfect birth you WILL have your perfect little boy, and THAT is what matters." Well put! Just take it one step at a time. Enjoy your class with the thought that you will have a natural birth and if the doctor tells you differently, then you can begin to plan for it. No need to stress out now.

And, no signs.

Krissy-Ditto what the others said. And stay away from the internet for researching. It does nothing but frightens people.

Amber-Yahoo to all the cool stuff. That was pretty nice of your MIL to do all that. May be she really is trying to turn over a new leaf!

Well I officially hate my house right now. DH has been gone all week for business. And wouldn't you know it I'd have issues. We've had a few bees in the house recently. We thought we had it taken care of and I hadn't found any all week. Well I got home tonight and they were swarming my front door and in my basement. I had to run next door and get my nice neighbors. They sprayed for me outside but we couldn't avoid and had to spray some in the basement ceiling as well. I've been killings bees all night. He sealed up the place in the brick outside where they were getting in. Hopefully what's left is what was alreayd in. I couldn't believe it. They have come out of no where! Needless to say I've been a little freaked about the spray but it was really unavoidable given what was going on. DH will be back tomorrow and we'll have to pull out some ceiling tiles to see what's going on and determine if we need to call someone out here. Not really an expense I was looking to pay for right now! I feel ichy and like there are bugs on me. And I've got to watch the dogs and cat to be sure they don't get stung along with myself. UGH.

Heidi--OMG, Bees!!?? I am so sorry; that would scare the crap out of me. At least it is happening now, and not once you have a baby in the house!

Jo and Amber--thanks for the positivity. I am really not nearly as worried about the birth or possible cesarean as I am about his health. Many of the causes of too much fluid are because of serious birth defects; most specifically in his heart or stomach, as well as some chromosomal abnormalities like Downs (no, I did not do the earlier testing). Hopefully the ultrasound will provide more relief next week. It is just very nerve wracking!

The class was pretty good, tonight; we learned lots of relaxation techniques, which I can hopefully start using right now!

Krissy-Sorry about the scare but I'm sure little Ely is just fine. Hang in there.

Jo-Sorry about no signs. It will happen soon.

Heidi-Bees?!?

Snowie, you need a new ticker

Krissy, having too much amniotic fluid should not lead to a c-section nor make you labor in bed after your water is broke as long as Ely is well engaged in your pelvis you will be allowed to move around. You are at risk for cord prolapse if your water breaks but since Ely is so low that decreases that risk. Your doctor will wait until his head is well engaged in the pelvis to break your water to decrease that risk even more. Our doctors use a spinal needle to poke a tiny hole in the sac and let the water trickle out vs using an amnio hook and causing a giant tear in the sac and a gush of fluid to come out. You might mention if this is an option with your doctor to decrease that risk even more. We also like to have our patients have an epidural in place just in case of cord prolapse we can go straight back for an emergency c-section and you are awake and your dh is allowed in the room. If you don't have an epidural and your cord prolapses, you would be put to sleep and your dh would not be allowed in the room so you both would miss the birth of Ely. Your doctor may want to induce you just so you do not risk rupturing your membranes at home and having a cord prolapse at home. Amber said it perfectly. You may not get the birth that you wanted but will get a healthy baby so do not get too upset if things happen that are out of your control. You are still getting a wonderful blessing no matter how Ely gets here. (((Hugs))) P.S. I only posted this so you can be educated and make decisions that are best for you, dh and Ely. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

So about 5 this morning I scared the hell out of dh and myself. I was asleep and went to stretch my legs out and woke up screaming bloody murder. for whatever reason I had this like massive pain all along the edge of my belly that kinda shot out to my pelvic bone. It stopped once i managed to stretch it out but anyone know if I should be worried?

Amber- I know those darn round ligaments get blamed for many pains, but that sounds just like what you are describing. They are under the belly and you may have just stretched in a weird way that they didn't like. I've had those too and they are SHARP, take your breath away type pulling pains. BTW, love your diagram!
