Default Ideas for Small Apartments w/ a Baby!

any suggestions for tucking a new baby into a small apartment??

dh & i won't be ready to buy a house til next year, but baby is on way (december)....basically, definately not room for separate nursery room at this point (my teen dd would be very put out to share room!!! omg, that would not work)......

i basically figure a basinette or cosleeper will do for a couple of months, especially since my dd basically never slept in her crib at that age, not for several months.....we can then rearrange our room to tuck in a crib when it's really necessary (once baby starts sitting up)....plus a changing station...........of course stroller & car seat, but those will live in the car..

is there any polite way to say please please as few toys as possible for showers etc?..... i know my daughter had waaaaaay too many things (she was the first grandkid for both families)....and i know my new inlaws buy their one grandchild gazillions of toys.....really not necessary, ...........

suggestions appreciated....

canter- Kelly & I don't own a house & we are TTC. In my opinion if you wait until you have everything that you want you will never have children! I agree that certain things should be waited on - but buying a house just isn't possible right now for some people like me!

As far as the shower.... I wouls register somewhere & put only a few toys on there! Toys can come with a lil age!

Canter, I have seen people that put cribs into the corner of a dining room and then use a curtain or something for sectioning it off. My dds slept in our room for the first few months and then I think they (and us) slept better without me jumping up to check on them every few minutes.

Just an idea, we do have a house but the other bedrooms are on the other end. Our bedroom and living room are together on one end. I plan to put the baby in with us at first and then right outside our door in the corner of the living room as it gets bigger. We use our den to watch tv and sit but will probably put a port-a-crib in there too.

Check this out girls. This would be a solution to a small space. All in one. Neat idea!
