Woman Gives Birth to 14 Pound Baby!

(Buffalo, NY) - A baby boy born at Mercy Hospital is the biggest they've ever seen. Little, or rather, big Evan James Dougherty weighed in at 14 pounds 5 ounces. Not even doctors predicted that Evan James Dougherty would be as big as he was at birth. But on May 8th, the maternity ward at Mercy Hospital was buzzing with the news that a 14 pound 5 ounce baby was born. Parents Tammy and Bob Dougherty were surprised as well. "When they said how much he weighed I started balling my eyes out in the operating room...it was just so surprising," says Tammy. Baby Evan was also 23 and a quarter inches long! He was delivered by cesarean section by Dr. August Bruno. Bruno says, "Good thing I had eaten my Wheaties in the morning to hand the baby off to the nursing staff because I didn't anticipate he was gonna be so large." Dr. Bruno predicted the baby would weigh around 11 pounds. He adds if the baby had been born on the due date, about 10 days later, he could have weighted over 15 pounds. Tammy Dougherty is just relieved the pregnancy is now over. She says the last month or so she was barely able to walk or even breathe. At that weight, baby Evan is the biggest baby ever to be born at Mercy Hospital. And officials with the Catholic Health System believe he may be the biggest baby ever born at one of their hospitals. Baby Evan is already wearing clothes for a 3 to 6 month old baby. The nurses in the maternity ward had to seek out bigger diapers as well.

OMG that is huge that baby makes my big baby look little LOL. I feel for that mother I know how uncomfortable I felt the last few months and mine was "only" 10lbs 1 oz LOL. I think he would have needed size 2 diapers.

That's nothing when I was pg with DS, I was going to a birthing center (in Texas) where midwives deliver the babies. There was a woman there just 3mos prior had delivered a 14lb baby 100% natural!! No drugs and NO episiotomy!!!! NOW that's a woman huh?!
