Aw Betsy I wouldn't say that!! This study uses women who ate beef at least 7 times a week! That's a lot of beef! I didn't know people ate that much beef. I'd be puking from all the red meat.

I absolutely do believe the hormones in our meat are affecting us though. I think I read the other day that Europe banned imported American meat because of the use of hormones. I wish I could afford to use all organic products.

Emily - I agree 100%. There are so many things that we eat on a daily basis that we don't even realize the effect. Like dairy products - milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, ice cream, coffee creamer.... all comes from hormone injected cows. Unless you buy organic or a product that specifically says No BGH (bovine growth hormone), you're getting it in your products.

You're right, though. It is expensive to go all organic. I wish I could afford to do it that way, too.

Rebecca, I just really started looking into that stuff because I realized how much more meat I eat now that I'm cooking real food every night. My waistline realizes it too. I used to eat a lot more organic foods that aren't so expensive - pasta, vegetables, salads, etc, but since Juan works so hard, he really needs proteins and I cook a lot of meat. We spend like $50 just on meat at the grocery store for the week. With the amount of meat we buy, it would be economically impossible to go organic.

I also love cheese. Damn cows and their hormones.

I know what you mean. My dh is a meat kind of guy. I don't buy/cook a lot of red meat, though. I usually make chicken. I always buy Perdue chicken. I remember reading that FDA doesn't allow hormones or antibiotics in chicken??? It is listed that way on the Perdue chicken packages, though. I also buy cage free eggs - free range chickens. I drink organic milk, but I don't buy organic butter, cheese etc. I figure if I do a little bit, it's better than not anything at all.

Juan hates chicken. He'll only eat it grilled on the BBQ. But yeah they can't use hormones but they do use antibiotics.
