That is a little bizarre, but then so is naming your kid Friday.

wow, that is weird. I am Italian(my father is 100% and yes, my family is not fond of Fridays. Mostly my grandfather, he is really superstitious. But that is weird. I can't believe they made them change the name and never mind that they picked the name for them. WOW~ I agree it is no more weird than apple or some of the other names that celebrities pick.

In the ER we had a baby come through with the name ABCDE and they pronounced it "Abzdee" I thought it was a typo on the form and asked the mom what her first name was because they had just put letters

My mom is a principal now, and when she was a teacher she had a girl named Female (pronounced Fa-mal-ee) because when they banded the baby when she was born her band said "female" and the mom thought that was her name.

This is actually common in many European countries. You are not allowed to name your child just any ol' name. It has to come off a list and is subject to approval.

My dh's cousin is a paramedic in NYC. She delivered a baby once and was telling her partner that it had meconium (sp?). Well the mom heard that and liked it, so she named the baby that.

Those are some crazy names! When my sister was in school she had a teacher named Oeta Bean (pronounced like oh-eat-a) and to top it off, she drove a pinto! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
