Default Please help settle our name dispute :).

Dh wants to name our baby, if it's a boy: Atom Danger, as it's first and middle names. My Mil said absolutely no way and that he would never get a job with that name. Dh LOVES the name and isn't budging. If enough people say it's awful then maybe I can convince him. But, if it's okay, then I'd like to know, too. Thanks for your help guys!

I marked the last one because I think that it sounds just like Adam so he would be okay but I have to say that when I was hiring people I may have overlooked a resume with a name like that. Also when everyone is spelling his name wrong because they asume it is Adam you will get really tired of correcting them.

Thanks for your votes everyone please keep them coming!

Lisa - I had thought about that, too. It's going to be so annoying having to spell his name out for people all the time. Of course I am used to it though with Dh because he spells his name differently than everyone else, too. I was also thinking about his resume and do you think if he were to leave off his middle name would it look better? Neither Dh nor I use our middle names on resumes or even our Driver's licenses. LOL I just thought of this, too. What if he gets pulled over by the police ever for a traffic violation or something? Some cop with an attitude might really hassle him because of his name .

Your dh sounds like mine, once they get something in their head....it sticks!! I also think that alot of people would misspell his name and that would get annoying. That is funny about getting pulled over by the police with that name

GOOD LUCK!!!

Wendy I always think of that kind of stuff. He would probably be fine and depending on what career he had his name could become a huge asset (although I cant think of any right now )
My Dh was absolutely stuck on Molly even though when I was younger my parents had a dog named Molly so I know what you are dealing with. It all works out though because now I am stuck on Macie and Dh doesnt love it so it is kind of payback

Thanks Heather .

Lisa - I think the name Molly is really cute . I can totally understand how you felt about it, though, since your parents had a dog with the same name. I told Dh what you said about the name being an asset and he got all happy. I had to explain to him that you weren't saying you liked it . This is going to be good hearing from him what kind of career he thinks that name would be an asset in.

I am mostly into traditional names and I agree with Lisa that the name Adam is nice but this spelling may always be a correction for him to give others that are spelling it wrong. I can relate with you a little because my husband likes relatively trendy names and I am more into traditional names so we are at a standstill with the name issue too. Good Luck!

I have heard LOTS of worse names, BUT I do think he would get made fun of by other ( older) kids, and it would be a pain to explain it to people, spell it all the time, and might look a little strange on the resume, but if he didn't use the middle name, I don't think it would cause him to not get the job.

Adam Roger sounds just as good if not better than Atom Danger.....similar sounds and syllables.

Now, if you want him to grow up to be an actor, a spy, or a stunt-man, Atom Danger might be the perfect name, like Evel Knevel! LOL!

I think it's the two names together that gives it a strange conotation. Both names would be okay if used with another, more traditional one. It's really the Danger that makes me uncomfortable with it. But it's your choice. I am afterall, naming my girl, Syrinna, which is different also.

How do you like the name? Afterall, by law, it's the mother that gives the legal name for the birth certificate, even if dad disagrees.

I have to agree with Melissa. A name like Danger could be more harmful than good.

Wendy - I think the middle name Danger is hard to get past. The first name isn't too bad I think he will get Adam alot. Oh a good job with that name would be a pro wrestler on WWE It can be annoying always correcting how your child's name is pronounced. I get that with Lela alot of peoply call her Layla I pronounce it Le-la. My grandfather wanted my Dad to name his first born Dark our last name is Tempest which means storm and my pap thought dark storm would be neat. Well my parents didn't and now my brother wished they would have. It is hard with everyones input like your mil but you and DH have to agree not her Good luck

Melissa - That is a beautiful name.

Thank you, Robin. It's great grandma's name, pronounced (Sir-ihn-na). We announced it at Thanksgiving when we visited her. It means peaceful and serene.

Lela was my grandmother's name and I think it is wonderful to use family names. That is something that your daughter will always cherish.

Lela is beautiful! In fact, after seeing it here it was on my list until we decided to go with the family name. She will be the third to have it, spelled differently though and each one has a different middle name. There is Screna Mae, Srena Lynn and now Syrinna Faith.
