Default Family Names

Hi. I am new here and not pregnant or trying yet, but will be very soon. If I have a girl I would like to name her Delia Ann. Delia was my great great grandmother's name and Ann is my mom's middle name, and short for my first name of Anna. I also really like Hazel, which is my DH grandmother's name. For boys, I have NO idea but I do know my DH and I do not agree on boys names at all!

Welcome Anna!
I like the name Delia Ann, very pretty. My DH really wants to stick to family names. I don't really want to so I don't know what we'll do when the time comes. He likes the name David Ray. (His dad is David, my dad is Ray). He said we could call him Doc since his initials are DR. He was joking (I think ) So if we had a daughter we would have to name them after our moms which would be Ruby Ellen, (sounds kind of hillbilly to me). We could use our moms middle names whick would be. Lynn Marie.

Then...my husbands middle name is Alton, named after his grandpa, and I think he wants to keep that. I like the name Shane, so it could be Shane Alton. Then my middle name, and his mom's is Marie, and I like the name Andrea, so we could do Andrea Marie. Wow that was a lot longer than I planned. Any input on any of the name ideas would be great!

Hi! I really like Shane Alton. Alton is a great name. I also love the name Ellen. I really like old fashioned names but ones that you don't hear often anymore, like Ellen. My mother in law would like if when we have a baby and if it's a girl for us to name it after her mother, which was Emma. I love Emma but it seems like everyone is using that name now. Two people I work with just named their daughters Emma.

As far as my DH side of the family when it comes to the men, none of their names are acceptable in my opinion....let's see there was Thelmer which was his dad's father and then his mom's dad's name was Nesbit! So, those won't work.

Either way I can't wait to start trying!!! I am so excited to be a mom.

annab,

I love family names too. My problem is that the girl names on my side of the family are unusual (not very good in today's society). My grandmothers were Ethel & Beulah. The funny thing is neither of them used those names, they both were known by their nicknames. If we ever had a boy I would somehow use my DH's middle name or my grandfather's first name.

I like the name Shane

Tammi

I am almost 8 wks along, and this is our 2nd. We are not sure if we are going to find out the sex ( as we did not find out with our daughter). The only reason I may lose this battle is because my 5 yr old is insistent that she is getting a sister, oh boy! Therefore, a boys name is what we are looking for. We know we are using my husband's middle name as Harrison, but we are not sure of the first names. Never dreamed it would be this hard. I will watch this site and see what names start to pop up. Best of luck to us all.

I just read the funniest thing EVER!
Oh Carissa, I 'bout died laughing at the name David Ray. That's nice, but to call him DR was hillarious. I still cannot stop laughing. Then to see the shocked smiley face after that just topped it off.
I bet you and your DH would be so much fun to be around.
I'm sorry, I still can't stop laughing. Oh, I don't know what's going on with me. I'm losing it

Well Regina, My DH said at least we would be sure to have a "doctor" in the family What a punk. Yes, he is quite the joker, we do have a lot of fun together. Poor future child, coming home to a family of smarta$$es! My parents are the same way! We do have fun though!

My family name I am considering is Serynna, pronounced Sir-ehn-a.

Not sure what to put with it. I don't like the one it goes with and that's May, too country, but I like the first name. It's the greatgrandma's.
