Default Baby Names

If it's a girl, Katelynn Louise
(Louise after my grandmother, and lynn is mine and my mom's middle name)

If it's a boy, Cotton Thornton
(Thornton is DH's grandmother's maiden name, and his middle name)

What does everyone think????

I like the girl's name, but am not too sure about the boy's first name. Well, let me clarify a little. I personally like the "different" names. I'm not into names that 5 other kids in a child's class have at all. Actually it's kind of cool now that I think about it. It is very different - I have heard the name before, though. It kind of has an old man sound to it, though. But, I can picture a young boy with it, too. It sounds like an old fashioned rancher or a farmer's name. Hehehe I picture Huckleberry Finn when I think of the name. So, I changed my mind, all in one paragraph. It's cute, too.

I know, it's different, but DH loves it, Like he has loved it since he was 10... So every hope and dream about him having a son has that name associated with it. So I've learned to like it. Seeing how happy it makes him, makes me happy.

I agree. If that's the one your DH likes, then that's the one to use! It's a cool name - I just had to think about it for a minute.

Everyone will probably want to reach through the computer and slap me if I get pg with a boy and I tell everyone the name DH wants to name him. He says I can't tell the names, though, until I get pg.

Very unique names, I like them.

What I did with my son is we had 3 names for him. And each month or so I would put a name on the refrigerator and yell out the name every once in a while to see how it would sound.

Ultimately we went into the labor room still with those 3 names and then decided he looked like a Jonathan and that's what we named him.

Betsy, was Jonathan one of the three names or was it a different one?

I love the fact that you are doing lynn like that. That is what we are doing. My grandmother's name is Lynnette, my mom's name is DeLynn, my older sister's middle name is Lynn, and since she can't have kids we decided that if we have a girl her name will be Jeslynn to continue the tradition. So that will be four generations of Lynn girls.

Cotton makes me think of the movie Scream, that's the name of the guy they think was the bad guy... lol I always think of movies or tv. But I do like interesting names, so I think it is one I would like. I would just have to get over my association with that movie.

It was one of the three names. We had Jonathan, Christopher & Nicholas. Worked out well cause his Dad's name is John and the middle name we gave him was Angel.

I think Jonathan is a nice name. Do you pronounce his middle name in the English way or the Spanish way?

Sara and Jennifer - That's nice with the Lynns!!

DH's family has that with the name Christian.

His dad, brother, and nephew are Richard Christian (I, II, and III), and Dh is Christian Michael. So if we have a boy, Christian will be in there somewhere.

I'm thinking Matthew Christian or Conner Christian.

Meredith, I like Matthew better. I know you didn't ask for opinions - sorry I couldn't help it though.

Wendy - I'm always open for suggestions!!

One of my best friends just had a little girl and named her Alaska. After that, I'm glad to get opinions, so I don't have people reacting the way she did...

"Oh.....that's.....nice."

All depends if I'm reprimanding him for something!

Betsy - Too funny!

Meredith - Alaska? Hmm. Let's hope she doesn't end up overweight, can you imagine the teasing she would get from the other kids? That's always my concern - what could some other kid think of to make fun of it. It is different, though, and that's cool. Hey, you could name your baby Texas! That's what DH calls this guy at work that just moved here from TX.

Thanks, I like the Lynn thing tooo, it's kind of cheesey but i like the idea of having that in common.

When DH first told me he liked that name (back when we were dating), I thought of the movie Scream tooo. He had never seen the movie so he had no idea what i was talking about. He later informed me that there was a football player at the University of Alabama named Cotton when he was a little boy and that is where he first heard it.

Babybemine - Taylan is a nice name. I've never heard that name before, though. Did you make it up, or how did you come up with it? Does it mean anything? Madison is a nice name, too, but I think it's one of those that "everyone" uses. But, if you like it then that's all that matters. I think that it was the name of Daryl Hannah's character on the movie Splash (the one where she's a mermaid). It's a cute name.
