Default Version? Breech Baby

Hi All,
Was just curious if anyone has had this procedure and what kind of success they had. Also curious if it is very painful.

My Cousin is due June 10th and apparently my little niece is breech, so I just thought I'd see if anyone could help me help her.

Thanks!

Judith went to a chiropractor who said her pelvis was out of alignment and right after her adjustment, Mason turned; sitting on one of those exercise balls is said to possibly help (likely to do with relaxation and pelvic alignment), doing gentle rocking type motions, front to back, side to side, and circles with your hips, gentle bouncing. Kiddo may turn on its own too -- there's still a little time.

Hi, my 3rd child was breech at 35 weeks and I too went to a chiropractor. I tried ice on the top of my stomach (babies will turn towards heat), music to the bottom of my stomach (babies turn towards sound), laying upside down on an ironing board that was tilted from ground to couch (it lifts them out of the pelvis and allows them room to turn), moxibustion (a chinese herb burned by the little toes that causes a baby to turn), plus the webster technique (aligns your spine so the baby will be comfortable in a head down position). One of the above worked for me because Jack turned and I was able to have a vaginal delivery. As a L&D nurse, I thought I was going crazy "trying" all these alternatives but something was successful. I suggest her trying these before an external version. Things can go wrong and they are very painful for the patient. Here is a website for a chiropractor certified in the webster technique!

ICPA Research Foundation - Home Page (click on find a doctor and look for webster technique certified)

Keep us posted on how she does!!!

Kristy~ I vaguely remember the moxibustion procedure you had. Didn't we call that your "pot stick?"

Thank you so much Kristy! I keep asking her if she has at least tryed shining a flashlight up her hooha yet, but she hasn't. So I doubt I can get her to try anything else. Oh well! Thanks for the info, though.

Hi, I dont post here much, but when I was preg. with my DD, she was breech the entire time I was pregnant and never turned. I went in to the hospital at 35 weeks and two doctors tried to turn her......very painful!!!! I wouldnt reccomend it to anyone!!! And of course, it didnt work either. It even left black and blue bruises on my stomach for days afterwards!!

Melsmommy- Thank you for posting. OMG that sounds painful and terrible.

Thanks all for your help. She had the version on tuesday and it didn't work, so she planned the c-section. She hasn't told me how painful it was yet....
