Default Signs of labor?

As I approach this last month, I am starting to wonder if those of you who have babies remember any "signs" that labor was close? I know what they tell you in childbirth class; losing your mucous plug, nesting, water breaking, etc. But, I was wondering if you remember any other signs or symptoms that happened close to your delivery?

Krissy- My labor with my girls started out feeling like I had pulled a muscle in the lower part of my stomach. Then it turned in to cramping contractions. I had started losing my mucus plug the week before...HTH

Well, I feel like I pulled a muscle in my lower belly all the time, so I better not read too far into that one or l&d won't be able to get rid of me!
Did most people get diarhea around the time they went into labor? Sorry if it is a wierd question, but I have heard that from family members, yet it is never talked about as a "sign of labor" in any of the books or classes.

Krissy - Looking back the night before my water broke I just felt strange. I can't really tell you what it was but I felt like something was going to happen. And I had lost my mucus plug for a week or more and that night more than usual came out and it was a bit red tinged. Gross, huh? And I stayed up until 11pm paying bills. I never got the cleaning out the closets and nesting stuff like that mine was mostly accounting nesting! I think your body just gives you signs it is "done" it doesn't always come out in the textbook ways. Good LUCK!!!

Thanks for the info, girls! I sure hope I get the accounting urge!! So, this may be a stupid question, but how do you know when you lose your mucus plug. Is it always bloody, or could it just be a sudden increase in discharge? Again, I am just analysing everything (hopeful, I guess). Also, I keep getting shooting pains down there; do you think that means he is dropping, or should I worry? I can't wait to join you all on the baby side!!!!
