Default WHY ISNT ANYONE TRYING CLOMID??

Hi Ladies,

My name is Anastacia. I have been reading this forum and see very little mention of clomid. After 3 years of ttc I got preggers my 1st month on clomid. I lost my daughter due to trauma, not at all related to the pills. She was 7 months along. That was a year ago in june.

Anyway, clomid was my miracle drug. its very mild, taken for 5 days, and kind of "tricks" your body into ovulating when you usually dont, or have irregular periods etc. In my case, I NEVER have a period without some kind of help.... birth control or hormone pills to jump start it.

I have about 40 pills left and they are not expired so I just finished my 1st cycle on them. They have a success rate of 50% within the 1st 3 months, and (approx) 85% within 6 months. the second figure varies, but its still a very high success rate. If after 6 months with no success, your doctor will recommend injectibles.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my info and ask if anyone else has tried them and if they were successful. Here is some good info in them:

I just got off the pill and am trying to conceive my first child. My periods are very irregular off the pill. My doc said if I had not had success in the first six months she would probably put me on Clomid. I have a friend who took it and was pregnant in no time, after a miscarrige followed by being unable to conceive. I hope I don't get to that point, but if I do, I hope the Clomid will work.

Default clomid

I also got prego on clomid after 4 months of using it. I tried w/out for 6 months with no success and my doctor decided to try clomid because I was a healthy 22 year old with irregular periods. We are now ttc#2 and I am hoping not to have to use clomid this time but at least I know if I have to that it works!

Default clomid

The first month I used clomid I turned into a homicidal maniac. I broke out worse than any teenager I've ever seen and I was absolutely miserable. The second month wasn't as bad, but it hasn't worked for me. My friend got pregnant on it her second month and miscarried a few weeks later.

LOL @ Hopeless.. i was the same, then every month they increased my in take by 1 tablet until i took 3 tablets and by then look out. i was suprised my husband was still around and my friends.
My outcome was i was on it for about 6 months and took a break, during my break, i fell natural with ectopic and tube burst.

That was 6 years ago, now i am on IVF and on 2nd cycle conceived with twin girls and unfortunately we lossed them due to IC @21 weeks.

I wish all very much of luck on chlomid.

jennie - I'm not sure about the cysts, but a friend of mine was on Clomid and it turned her into a complete hormonal maniac. She couldn't stand herself and quit taking it.

Default clomid

Hi.
I am 26 and my husband and I have been TTC #1 for quite a while. I didn't get regular periods because I gained a LOT of weight, so I lost over 85 pounds. I am on my 2nd cycle of Clomid 100 mg. The doctor also prescribed Provera to induce a period before Clomid. I didn't get pregnant on it last month, but I did for sure ovulate, so that shows me that it is doing its job, because I wasn't ovulating on my own before. I got a period on my own a few days ago which is good, and I'm starting another round of Clomid tomorrow. It does have risks for ovarian cysts, but I read that most of them disappear on their own...I have never had a mood swing on Clomid, or any bad side effects except when I ovulated my pelvis felt really painful and heavy for a day. Other people have had that too. The only other thing is that sometimes it dries up the fertile cervical mucus that sperm needs to travel...so I am taking Robitussin, green tea, and evening primrose oil caps to increase the mucus (I have heard other people had success with that).

Default New in this game

Hi everyone

I recently joined becaue I am desperate to fall pregnant and found help on this site. I am 28 and married for five years and tried for the past 2 years with no luck. Infertile and desperate, I went on Clomid and I have to be honest. I will not do that again no matter how desperate I am. I blew up into this huge ballon and the mood swings are dangerous. My husband and I fought all the time because of the stress and my depressions. I had acne that were soon boils and I will never want to do that again. I need alternatives. I was on clomid for a year. no luck. Any other suggestions? Thanks again. This really is a great site.

Hi Romona I am sorry you had such a rough time on Clomid. This is my first cycle and so far so good. I am not sure what kind of fertility problems you are having, ovulation, short luteal phase or unexplained but I am sure with alittle more information on your cycle someone or another will be able to offer up some suggestions. Good luck and hope to hear more from you!
