Default Questions about IUI & Trigger

This is our first Clomid/Trigger/IUI combo cycle and I'm really excited. Had u/s on Saturday at the RE's office but they decided not to do any bloodwork after looking at my u/s, does that seem odd?

Anyway, I am starting 150mg of Clomid today and ending on CD9. We have an u/s that will be done on CD12 to see whether or not we have any mature follicles. My last Clomid cycle, I was on 100mg and I reacted exactly 7 days after my last pill, so I'm a little worried that my follies won't show anything on CD12. However, if my follies do react earlier, we're supposed to Trigger with Ovidrel 48 hours before the IUI/ So, I'm assuming the Trigger would be on 1/22 and our IUI would be on the 25th or 26th.

Does Triggering 48 hours before the IUI seem a little early? I am afraid I'll ovulate and completely miss the eggie by the time we do the IUI.

Also, can anyone whos been on Ovidrel tell me the difference between Ovidrel and the other hCG injection brand and which one is better?

Thanks ladies! Much Babydust to those doing IUI or IVF!

Cristina - As you know I have not done any of this (yet). But, this is what I think....trigger 48 hours before IUI wouldn't be too early b/c IUI skips the whole sperm traveling for 24-48 hours through your cervix. So True you may O 24-48 hrs after the trigger, but the egg will live 8-24 hrs after O...so I think IUI sounds well timed. I hope some of the more experienced TTC'ers give you their 2 cents also though. This is soooo exciting for you and Jose!

I'm pretty sure my trigger was 36 hours before ovulation. Each time that I have triggered (both with IUI and IVF), there is a specific time that they tell me to do the trigger. If you are worried about O'ing to early, maybe you can call a nurse and tell your concerns. Mine have all been very good about explaining things to me over the phone.

Kayla - That makes perfect sense! Thanks girly.

Sarah - Yeah, based on my ultrasound, I will let the nurses know.

I am forgetting some of the lingo - but is the "trigger" the shot of progesterone you get before insemination? I had that done exactly 24 hours before my insemination took place, but I do think you have a window of time, so maybe my doctor did it on the early time. Good luck!

Missy - It is the pregnancy hormone hCG.
